Mr.Sk with due respect to you, I think you are making the project a mockery by providing some unwanted information and quotes.
After reading your postings I feel you are getting carried away. Please stop this.
To be more professional on this,
This project is something like National Public Radio where quality programe is provided by collecting public fund. Please contribute to make it a happen. Thats all you need to say,
you need not take an auto and go around the city asking for vote. Please stop this Hanuman , Anil and come out the closet theories. This is hurting the project rather than helping it.

Not seeing any further posting since my last one yesterday, made me write the last one. If anyone feels that it is distracting from the cause, I apologize and urge to re-focus on TiS only!!
Thanks.

kabish, awesome! one of the few fans who will write it in blood to say Ilayaraaja is always the best - greater than any names / bands all put together. i like this spirit, which i may talk but writing it down in clear terms is what i find difficult for me. btw, who wrote it?

It would be great if the webmasters of TiS could compile a FAQ based on the queries on this thread.
Some questions that could be included are
1. What is the budget and what are its components?
2. What is the business model?
3. Why this particular business model?
4. What do donors in the US get for their $5 (or more) contribution?
5. What are the risks involved in this project?
6. Are there any risk alleviation mechanisms in place?
7. Is the TiS CD (whenever it is going to be released) going to be sold? If yes where do the profits from the CD sales go?
Cheers

Specifically I am interested in the answers to questions 4,5,6, and 7.
A few more questions
8. What is IR's role in the business aspects of this project? Is his role only as a composer who has been commissioned to do this project? What are his investments and what will be his returns?
I also want to point out that transparency is key to this business model. And are there any legal issues in tranferring money from the US to India, especially since there is no US based fiscal agent for this project?
Cheers,
Thoppai

One last suggestion...I suggest that ALL updates regarding TiS be posted on the TiS website to make it official...

Dear Mr.'thoppai',
All are valid concerns and these will be addressed with authenticity soon[in a couple of days, I mean]. And, sure, these will appear in TiS website as well. Since Mr. Jegath is currently touring in connection with TiS an will be back in India only by 20th, by 25th or so of this month all can see the updates. In the meantime, we [TiS/US team]will be coming with answers to [y]our questions and we are in the process of getting IIR to authenticate the answers and hence the delay. Pl. bear with us.In the meantime, we hope you have already read our first posting in this thread sometime in the 2nd wk of Oct which may answer some of your querries. Thanks.

For those who haven't read our first posting, here it is!
From: Sankar Kumar (@ ) on: Tue Oct 7 07:22:17 EDT 2003
Dear all,
We are a long time listeners. We grew up with IIR [Isaignani IlaiyaRaaja, as we would like to address Him]since the 70's, starting from 'macchAnaip pAttheengaLA' to 'adadA' and it is not an exaggeration to say how much we all owe to IIR for the ways in which he has played a silent part in our times of joys and sorrows. With his melodious touch of his mastery over the three aspects of music- lyrics, tune and rhythm- he has soothed us, cajoled us, inspired us, scolded us, encouraged us, helped us, calmed us, and so on. Some may relate the same with other musicians of their lifetime, but what I am referring to here is something personal without casting any aspirations to those others. Having said that, how can we repay the Master? This question has been at the bottom of our hearts all these times and we didn't have a clue as to how and when this may be accomplished! Like the Ekalaiva owing his talents to his unseen master Dronacharya, we were also feeling the same way. We have been thanking IIR everyday during our prayers and that's what we could do so for! But, As IIR used to say, "yellaam Iraivan aruL" some strange things started happening in the last few weeks which we feel it is proper to share with you all. Please bear with us and read along till the end!
By a stroke of sheer Divine grace, we stumbled upon the current master project of IIR, "Thiruvasakam In Symphony" and expressed a desire to volunteer out time to this. When it is not at all difficult for the Great Master to get in touch with some of the big corporate sponsors and leading music companies to have it done at a stroke of his word, IIR was straining himself to find a way to get this project be known to each and every common man who has been influenced by his music. When we submitted a plan of action to his emissary Rev. Fr.Jegath of starting a movement in USA "aaLukku Aindhu Dollar", IIR responded gleefully, while on his way to Thiruvannaamalai, that "this is exactly I had in mind and yellaam Iraivan aruL"[to qoute him correctly]. And now, this project is on final shape and this has been launched yesterday on the auspicious day of Vijayadasami. We appeal to all of you fans in USA to help us in this cause. Please do the following:
1. Pl. go to the Thiruvasakam in symphony.com website and know more about this.
2. If you want to participate in this, pl. e-mail us in USA, Mr. Sankar Kumar from Cary, North Carolina, Mr. Sridhar Seetharaman from NJ, Mr.Sridhar Balasubramanian from San Jose, and Mr. Socrates from Seattle asap.
3. Tamil Maiyam has printed out the brochures and receipt books [of $5 tickets of 20 each in a book], and if you want to be part of this, pl. let us know your requirement of books which we will be glad to send you.
4. Every one of us do have afriends/relative circle of 20 people or more and it is not difficult at all for 2000 of us to raise the required amount.
5. Everyone of us will be able to spare $5, to this great person who has played such an important role in each of our lives and it should not be difficult to part with $5 for this project which is aimed at great maestros of universal fame to be able to read and play our music which has not been posible so for due to the style of our traditional music system.
6. All those who are interested, please contact us to make this happen.
7. Together, we can make it happen.
8. Contact id's

Kabish, thanx for yr article link.
SSSS
I 'wd be glad if u clear off some of my basic doubts reg Tis.
1. Will Tis be pure Instrumental or will it contain some vocal voices too?
2. How manu songs of Thiruvasagam r covered?
3. Will it be a single album (or) set of albums in volumes.
4. Where is the recording goin to take place.
- From: *********BOOBOO (@ 129.171.149.62)

1.If we hear Beethoven its easily branded ha! its beethoven by our brain, if we hear chopin its branded chopin, NBW and HTNI made us to brand us that this is ilayaraaja. Thiruvasakam is that type. An ilayaraaja brand. Since symphony orchestra is used, its instrumental and since thiruvasakam is dealt is vocal too. May be its a choral symphony.
2. selected hymns from Thiruvasakam are selected.
English version will not be that of popes version.
3. Its a single album ,as the cost involved makes things clear.
4. Rome and India.
How many languages is not known and all these are logical approximations.
