HI guys,
I listened to latest TFM news and also the latest indiadirect.com update of top10 songs. In that Suresh told that IR has comeback again.Indeed i felt that IR's senthooram,DHArma, pnnthottam should be on top3.instead of Deva's stupid song st 2 position.
Anyway I am happy that IR's rule has started again. This calls for celebration.Even ARR is on the down roll.USually his songs lies on first position for long time. This time it has not happend with Jeans.
Thank God.TFM is saved.

The question is not who is better than whom ...
The question is how much pleasure their music can give us!
And that ... is a very individual thing.
Both IR & ARR have created gems of music that are unique, enjoyable and tremendously satisfying. And if they are competing against each other for first place, that makes it even better for us ... the audience!
We need not scrap about who is better! They both have their place. I think they should do a combined movie once ... something like MGR & Sivaji in Koondukizhi ... just once, maybe ... ?!

Srikanth,
I never thought I would be directing a response to you in an adithadi thread, but I feel an explanation is necessary because of your following statement:I feel AR fans here are little defensive and afraid of IR fans. I am not!
As any true music fan will also be a fan of ARR's good songs or anyone's good songs for that matter, I have to respond here.
I defended ARR in several threads when I first started out in DF, you can check the Archives if interested. The IR-ARR arguments never go the healthy route or in the least an interesting or stimulating route. It all turns to opinion-mongering fascism. I spend much of my time in lyric-oriented threads because these threads are actually about something meaningful to me. I read these IR-ARR threads once in awhile in the same way I pull my car over in the highway with morbid curiosity over an accident.
I am constantly amazed at your appettite for destruction, mine wore thin very quickly in this respect. I participate in those rare threads like the one about "IR's limitations" which concentrates on a discussion about ragams or the couple of threads about Fusion music in TFM or use of chords. So, the reason I stay away from these tirades is because I want to get the most out of my time. I assume it is the same with many others who quietly appreciate good music regardless of who held the musical baton.
When I see you in these discussions I'm reminded of what my friend said about SPB's acting."Every moment SPB spends as an actor is a moment he is not singing". Let me apply this to you, Srikanth. Every moment you spend in meaningless dogfight threads is a moment you are not creating your own music or not spending on discussing technical aspects of music that people like me would love to hear from you. But if you feel defending ARR is your calling then, may the force be with you.

This thread is about IR's rule. (God knows what is to be discussed here that hasn't been said in numerous threads already.) Surely it is not the place to compare the tastes of HFM and TFM listeners. "Tastes" are subjective and no one has the right to make derogatory statements about others tastes. Atleast we don't want the DF to be used as a vehicle for such comments. I am deleting all such comments from this thread.

And responses to them which are not really needed in isolation.

ravi!
thanks for the corrective action. almost all threads need your service.
having read the threads about raja for the past 3-4 months, i am putting forward an hypothesis that ir fans might relish and probably irk the likes of srikanth.
like rama was sent for vanavasam by kaikeyi, raja was sent on exile by the jealous producers and directors (who wanted to see him banished for eternity). after serving the exile period he is back and is clamoured by the tfm fans (atleast in tfm df)
ennamma idhu topic! ir rule has started again! adhuvam based on what? some rankings in some god forsaken tv channel? (perhaps the same rankings that raja fans were cursing not longback) if raja makes music for movies which become hits, he is back in the game.otherwise he is out. that's the bottomline and that is the fact of life.

Hi Udhaya,
Thanks for pin pointing my mistakes, you are right I should have not told such words,I had sidelined many here due this reckless statement.
I am sorry, at times I get carried away- (ila ratham kothikuthu),
I will try to stay away from these dog fight from this minute onwards and concentrate on something constructive.
for Ravi :Sorry for dirfting in this thread,
I assure you this will not happen again,
Since many here feel I am irritated by Raja appericication statments etc, some feel I am distrubing thier views etc...to stop all this - I am going to be out of TFMDF for some time.. Enjoy guys...
Good bye and Thanks!

Please don't ostracise Srikanth or anyone else for that matter for expressing a musical opinion. I've decided to keep out of these ARR/IR discussions, as they're destructive and very rarely in good humour.
All of you listen to ARR's music, in fact remember the Jeans thread....the longest ever? We start a thread for every release of his and discuss it in good humour. Huge publicity is given to him, as he's in the media eye and all he touches is big budget(Rama in exile or not)....Whatever said and done, he is a big part of TFM, as is Deva.
The Maestro is not the only one there....Please try and remember this. As for his symphony, I read that he doesn't want to release it until his market is back up, as only people who appreciate Western Classical will enjoy it, and that as he's not as popular with the masses(his words not mine), he'll wait until he 'comes back' or will not release it.
I really admire Srikanth's music knowledge, it's far beyond mine, so I read all he has to say, with anticipation. He's only putting forward his point of view. There is no need to be nasty to keep and shut him out of the forum, he's a valuable contributor and really knows his music. have you seen his web page? He's certainly not a Raja basher, neither am I. Both of us have some admiration for ARR, as a youngster and as someone who brought about a change to TFM. There was a lull during 1992 and I stopped buying TFM, until the event of Roja, there was a richness in the music that attracted me and many others....I've heard some of IR's Malayala Music and it flies high above the TFM he gives us....Examples being Guru and Sirachalai - first in Malayalam.....I too hope that IR comes back in full flow, but this is a TFM Forum, not an IR forum, we're here to discuss ALL TFM.....
SORRY Srikanth....Please come back.....

Geetha,
I second everything you have said.
Ravi,
You crack me up. You seem like an old teacher who shakes his head in disbelief at unruly kids making the same mistakes over and over. I certainly don't envy your role.
Srikanth,
Maybe you were hoping for solidarity from those who like ARR to withstand the number of attacks by IR Prarthanai Club. But this would only further the pointless attacks from both sides. I was hoping that by ARR likers (not fans because we like all good music not just ARR's) staying away from these threads the IR threads will become the equivalent of one-hand clapping. But since your indignance falls easy prey to their threads these fights may never end. Maybe we should all get together on a stage and exchange rings like IR and ARR did. Even then I think there will be discussions about IR fans rings being bigger and shinier than ARR fans rings.
Hell, if bringing you back means getting into this mudslinging match then I'm ready to step in, Srikanth. What do you say for this show of support? But we should have set times and referrees. Someday we could collect all these threads, add graphics, sound effects for punches and sell it as a CD-ROM.

Another reason why IR fans are so emotionally attached to IR..His music has a jeevan that really stirs up your heart. I have been totally mesmerized by his music.
