Cheers Murali. I'll definitely take a listen when I find my headphones. I have a new laptop and they are in the bag of my old one. Is the song you mention the Malllu version of Thamil Isai Mazlai? If so, how do the lyrics compare?
I find that the Carnatic music in Malayalam films is incredible. Have you heard the wonderful Reethigowla piece? I think IR was the MD, but am not sure. I have a few Mallu albums, they are few and far between in the UK and they are all quite fantastic. There are a lot of talented MD's, singers there.
By the way, do you have 2 names - Swapriyan and Murali or are you a duo?

Geetha:
swarapriyan is my hotmail id. Murali sankar is my name. MS is the just an abbreviation.
I feel great after hearing you saying that you like Mallu carnatic. I will be uploading many lilting songs soon (after May 6th) including the evergreen Pramadhavanam etc... I am sure you are going to like the ones I already have in my site.
Regards

hello guys,
I keep posting questions but i rarely get answers, may be you guys feel iam too low to be in this discussion or may be my questions are too basic and way beneath your level.
Anyway one last question. Is there any website which gives ragas for movie songs. Or is it possible by any of the real expert here to create one. If done I will be happy and be out of this discussion and get my answers from there.
Thanx

Rama:
Please do not get dejected. I haven't seen any question from you and even if I see I can answer only if I know. IMO, if you have not got answers from the Dfers, they will not be knowing them either. For eg, I have answered only a small portion among the many questions as my knowledge is just an inkling.
Anyway, go to the top most (i.e the topic of the thread) and you will find a link there.
Regards
MS

Rama: I've answered your question about Innisai Paadi varum, just above.... Sorry for not answering the other one about Munnam Seidha. I need to locate the song and listen to it on order to comment. I don't remember it. Sorry again. Also, mostly, as MS said, we answer only if we know or have an idea....Please don't be offended and carry on with the questions. By the way, on my homepage, there is a Raga database link, which is maintained by Satish Subramaniyam, please take a look...

MS: Thanks in advance for uploading the songs. By the way, there was a Mallu dubbed movie into Tamil, called Elam(Auction). It was a great movie with great BGM(I should have noted the Ragas used), but there were no songs in it. Were there any songs in the original?

Vasu,
I know only one type of notation, which is descriped in
http://www-bsac.eecs.berkeley.edu/~ksanthan/Music/ragalist.txt
I think this notation is well descriped with keyboard keys in our notes thread (very beginning).

Wow !! What a song !!!
This song well fits in Kiravani raga except D1.
Please someone verify.

Dhandapani,
S r3 m1 d2 n1 S:
in that notation, how come d2/n1 - both are same arent they? r3 can also be notated as g2. I have not heard that song, or else I could take a guess.

Vasu,
I think d3 = n1 and r3=g1 .
Dhandapani,
Regarding the name of the raga , I think it is a derivative of Vagadeeswari name Pragnavathi

Hi!
I have uploaded some more songs on to my homepage. I thought I should be back with a bang after such a long time, but due to time constraints, I could just prevent the attempt from turning out to be a damp squib :-) Anyway take a look at the songs and the ragas I have put them under. Let me know your comments.
Thanks and regards

Dhandapani,
I dont have an exact answer. But...
Going by the fact that r3 = g2, your notes are:
s g2 m1 d2 n2. I used my web search engine and these are the results i found:
1.Bageshri - [sg2m1d2n2s+;s+n2d2m1pd2g2m1r2s]
2.Srimanoranjani - [sg2m1d2n2s+;sn2d2pm1g2s]
It could very well fit into srimanoranjani if it uses P in avarohana. Or probably it could be one that the MD himself created by just omitting P and R from kharaharapriya. I am not aware of if there is any raga as such. If he had omitted only P it would be Shriranjani.
RR:
It cant be hindolam coz hindolam uses D1.
HTH,
Vasu

Mr S BalachandraRaju (author 'Raga Paavaarththam') defines Raga 'Prakshalanaavathy' as follows:(page 323 of Raga Paavaarththam)
There is a yoga method called 'Shang Prakshalana' which is mainly meant for stomach cleaning. In the same way, this raga purifies your heart. That is the reason, this raga got this name.
When singing slowly in mandrasthai, this raga itself gives the pleasure of yoga.
Prakshalanaavathy raga is 34'th Melakartha Vaagatheeswari's janya raga.
Arohanam : Sa R3 M1 D2 N2 Sa
Avarohanam : Sa N2 D2 M1 R3 Sa
So Aaththadi Paavadai is 100% Prakshalanaavathy raga.
Great Illayaraja !!
Thanks guys.

RR: Suddha Hindholam is commonly known as Varamu. In fact I have both Manasuloni(TVS) and Thunai Purindharul(UnniK) in Varamu. I think the Varamu is the new name for Suddha Hindholam. I think KJJ sang Manasuloni in Hindhola Kaamini, also a nice Raga.
Rajsekar: Wow, I too found the Ragam Prakshalanaavathy in Raga Pravakham(I love that book), I'm so impressed. Please tell me where you got the other fascinating information from? I have some of Sambamoorthy's books, but your level of detail is excellent. Thanks for that. Please recommentd me some books or web sites, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for the great information. Please keep posting here or in the Hub, I for one would really appreciate it.
