NJ Update:--
as Thiru mentioned, Thur night show @ Strand theatre was messed up as the film reel was backward.. i went back for the Sunday Matinee..
it almost happened again!!!
same scene .. same situation, this time the film burnt itself on the projector after few minutes.. the film was restarted with couple of scenes snipped.
Cant beleive we are watching movie in this crap theatre in NJ. off course the audio is much to be desired. my home theatre is much better than the theatre.
i will start a crusade to avoid the theatre from now on...

Is baba any worser that manidhan. I saw manidhan when I was not RK fan. I think no other movie can be like manithan. So if Manidhan can make it 250 days, why not Baba..? I didn't see baba yet. FYI

arey yaar,
did u see "naatukku oru nallavan". thats actually worse than Baba and manithan put together. But it didnt run much. It was one of the most expensive movies of that time. I think that should be the only rajini movie to have made a loss ever.

Suresh,
I saw Kannathil Muthamittal in the same theatre. It is the worst theatre in the world. No theatre is as worse as this theatre. It spoled my movie watching experience.
If you can just spit on the faces of theatre administrators. I cant belive such a thing is happening n NJ. Dallas's theatre is worse but NJ takes the rotten cake man.

I saw this a few pages back, written supposedly by a Chinese guy who saw baba - click on OLD RESPONSES to see this:
Of course we can't do without the villains and soon Rajni gets in the way of a local hotshot who happens to be the son of a local politician. He soon ends up being kidnapped and almost beaten to death. Thinking that he has died the villains chuck his body over a mountain top. All this happens in the first two hours of the movie. As for the remaining hour, you'll have to relinquish whatever beliefs you may have had for a second in order to watch the conclusion. I came in with great expectations for "Baba" but the ending was too sudden. Maybe because the censors also did away with one too many of the mandatory fight scenes from the movie. But I left the cinema feeling sorry that Rajinikanth had been shortchanged in this movie.

Errr...I've seen the movie, when was Rajnikanth tossed over the hill? Was I asleep, or was it that this "Chinese Guy" actually wrote this review "without actually" seeing the movie and based on the "rumored storyline" which has been available in the net for some time?

Hai friends,
I'm Ramki reporting from Mayiladuthurai.
* Super Star sorry... Spirtual Star really did a
good work/contribution for his fans who love his
spiritualism.. Well done...
* Baba balances the difference of God faith with the
utter rationalism. Those who have questioned his
spiritual interest may shut their mouth now...
* Well done goes to....
Super Star
Koundamani
Nambiar
A.R. Rahman
Suresh Krishna
* The title card thanks Swamiji Dhyanandha sarswathi,
Satchithandan Swamiji, Director Shankar & Writer
Sujatha & The trustee of Kaligambal temple but he
should have added the name of Tree-feller,
Thirumavalan, Ex-A.D.M.K Ministers....
* Worst performance from...
Manisha Koirala,
Choota Naidu
Pepsi Vijayan
Prabudeva
Tarun Kumar
Associate Directors
* There was no much response from the audience as we
are facing threatnings from yellow party. I heard
that most of the theatres in North Tamil Nadu are in
the same situation...
* I'm not at all interested in the climax scene in
which super star cancels his himalaya trip to serve
the people..
* I think, Writer Balakumaran is not in the film...
* Thanks Prakash Raj for not doing this film. I heard
that Chief Minister character was alloted for Prakash
Raj. Thank God... if he did the roel, he would have
imitated Karunanidhi!
* There are lot of casual dialogues throught the film
which may be treated as a political slogan.
O.K. Let us see the review after some days...
bye... anbudan, J. Rajni Ramki from
Mayiladuthurai.

few mistakes IMHO made with Baba Songs
1) Choosing Karthik, as a singer, although Karthick is the best out of the new bunch of singers, he has not got PUNCH of Rajni style, SPB is the only singer who can match Rajni's calibre
2) Shanker mahadevan- god, this guy seriously has BIG throat problem
3) Shakti kodu - is clone of one of LTTE 's Eelam songs!!!, SL tamils would know what I mean.
SPB,Reena & Jeyachandran were the perfect choice, Jeycahndran's two songs were very good, great jobs by SPB + Jeyachandran.

natukku oru nallavan was one of the first few movies to be taken in multiple languages at the same time (it cud be the first such movie).
it was simulatenously shot in tamil telegu and hindi.. flopped badly in all 3.

I thinks its time I answered the question you raised almost 10 "old responses" links ago.
When Padayappa songs were released they were not liked by the general public too. But many started liking it after associating it with the movie itself. I havent seen Baba, but it looks like at least many of the TFM forum-ers have said that Rajiyama is a very good song in the movie, when they actually said it was one of the worst in the album (again 15-20 "old responses" links ago.

BGM review for Baba (courtesy: Chennai Online)
"It's definitely not Rehman's best, but it manages to gel with the proceedings. What doesn't gel is the rap bit in the background, the refrain of 'Baba, Baba........Hey Baba that's me!" A bit kiddish here. He could as well have kept it as 'Baba Black Sheep.........!' quipped a wisecrack from behind."
