fantastic movie.
i saw twice yesterdy with my friends.all people in the movie worked hard.
as others said theatre burst out when they showed "with the grand music of maestro ilayaraja"
iam locating in chidambaram, which is not a big city.but here, people kept banner of maestro equal to vikram and surya, qouting "pithamaganukku uyir kodutha isaignaniye, iniyoru murai pirappom un isaiyai kaetka".i can realise people began to understand even minute work of maestro.
iam proud to be a fan IR.
congratulations to the team.

I think there are few points in this film ....
1.The character of Vikram of why he is behaving like that is not clear ..If bala had shown i would have given 100/100 for this film ..!!!!!!!
2.How come Laila is fallin in love with surya who is a cheat !!!!!
3.Vikram's great acting when he comes in contact with Sangeetha and surya .......and teh subseqent climax scene where he acts greatly ...
4.Maestro's BGM was great in two places ........during the secene when Vikram and others carries the kanja in the mountain ..and the final 20 minutes ..agaian out of the world .....
5.Though everybody praise vikram's acting ,it would have bene great if vikram is given 3-4 dialogues adding punch to that dialogue ....
6.SUrya's comedy is great except that 'lekium' joke which is bit nasty !!!!!!
7.SUrprisingly laila's acting was good in comedy and in the climax ......

Gave pithamagan audio my first listen and really disappointed with the synth parts, by Raja's standards an average album(By ARR/HJ/YSR it was outstanding!). Badly missing were the mesmerising violins that characterised his music of the 70-80s. maybe i'm critical coz i've been listening too much to his old songs.
But his BGMs in recent times have been outstanding and I still cant wait to see the movie for that reason alone :-)

Prabhu please hold your comments til u see the movie. The BGM is world class, and all songs are situational and can't be bettered by any other musicians.....The movie by itself is great plus the genius music makes the movie the best of the year.....

extraordinary movie wht a great performance by all the casts. dont miss the movie. bala really worked very hard to get the maximum out of his four heros - vikram, surya, laila and mastreo. extraordinary is a simple word to explain about the movie. watch it watch it watch it.....

Prabhu..the BGM is really great...especially in the scene where Vikram runs towards the "Ganja Toppu".....it's simply great...
but for some reason the BGM in tge beginning when Vikrams mother walks towards the graveyard..doesn't suit.....or it's just my feeling...any comments...
apart from that..the whole movie deserves a few times watching.....it just sinks...after the first show...

I have not seen the movie but going thru all reviews. Question1 : Has any movie in the past history of newtfmpage got so many roaring comments? Q2> Like fliflo put it, summa pulambinavanga could change their opinion on the songs quality, as CM mentions it is more situational.
Point 3: I'm having fun, because so called statements like "pitchaimagan" comments are gone with the wind...and the fellow who made such statements are not even visible nowdays.... may be consolling. he he....

Sure CM, even for a crap movie like En Mana Vaanil(my last IR movie in theater), I enjoyed the BGM pieces in various scenes, I think Pithamagan storywise and BGM should be another Sethu

paran ,
i too agree that the BGM did not match ....but it was a very god piece ..it is also because we expect great orchestral kind of music in the beginning ..probably that is teh reason ...but after that IR really dominate sin the 2 nd half!!!

music is good , but i felt IR took some pressure for taking this project .....since background music is very mild .......else it wud be too good....
ADADAA song shud have been put as instrumental music only in movie.....din suit much...........

PM is a very clever reworking of the hollywood bomb "Instinct". Picture Anthony Hopkins as Vikram and Cuba Gooding Jr. as Surya and you get the idea.

In PM, the BGM was typical IRish. When TFM is reeling under computerized music with familiar Key Board Rhythms - IR's BGM has come has a great relief to his Fans.
I've 2 points after seeing the film. Is it right to some extent?
1. IR follows a typical style of BGM for each of his film. The Style changes from film to film, depending upon the mood & message of the movie. For eg - Kathalukku Mariyadhai just had a Mild Chorus, Mesmerizing SOLO violin & Flute pieces spread over the entire film. The Climax was just a musical treat, where the music talked more than the dialogues. In GURU the style was breathtaking with HUNGARIAN Orchestra. In Hey Ram it was just Symphony Pieces. In Vanna Vanna Pookal - it had more Drum beats and other Percussions. In Bharathi, Azagi - it was more folkish. The Style is followed thru out the Movie.
2.In scenes of great tragedy where he finds that the scene is a turning point (or) of a great imporance, he keeps the BGM silent for few frames and gradually starts a beautiful piece from a specific frame and ends up great, giving a great depth to the scene. (Here where most of the MD fails)

Dear IR fans,
I am happy to find so many of you keeping track of IR's BGMs. Me and my friends affectionately call him "mottai" - just a sign of respect from us youth. Anyways do any of you know any site where i can find good IR BGMs or do any of you have them? I know a site which has real format of IR stuff. But im looking for godd MP3s - specifically BGMs of "Mouna Ragam", "Nayagan", "Idhayam" etc which are out of the world!

Dear All,
Neenga ellorum IR maathiriyae, Avaroda music-ala than padam oduthunu solrathanala than KB, MR, BR and now thangarbachan ellarum pirinjanga..
I'm accepting that IR's BGM is good in this film but its surely not better than sethu .
one more thing is that, last scene-la music-ae illama silent-a vittutu iruntha kuda Vikram-oda acting antha scene-ai thooki niruthi irukkum..
i feel that vikram's effort was 75% and IR's is 25%(though bala is the captain)..
So ellarayum paratunga, atha vittutu IR-ala than padam oduthunu sollathinga.
Sorry guys, if my points affect u..

NO WONDER IR WANTED SOME ONE MONTH TO DO THE SCORE. MY POINT IS: ORCHESTRAL SCORES OF IR SOUND GREAT PERFECT IN TAMIL AND MAL FILMS, BUT HINDI (LIKE LAJJA) IT SOUND TOO MUCH. I WONDER WHY?
........i saw twice yesterdy with my friends.all people in the movie worked hard.
as others said theatre burst out when they showed "with the grand music of maestro ilayaraja" ...............
srina, fantastic news. thanks. so, it seems like old days!!!!! Only one man i've seen so far has had that power to bring back people together.
So, another void is also getting filled in i suppose. Vikram as the next Sivaji/Rajni/Kamal. Good for Tamil cinema. It is a pity the old order could fade away, if not for IR' repeated come backs.
MY BEST WISHES TO VIKRAM AND BALA. KEEP THE GOOD LEGACY FLAME KICKIN....
my only request is, please stop this Mani Rathnam style of abrupt conscious dialoguess, pauses, sound editing and backlighting. very distracting and artificial. bring back the old days of pure flowing dialogues.

"So ellarayum paratunga, atha vittutu IR-ala than padam oduthunu sollathinga. "
Did anybody here say like that? Why r u creating unnecessary problem? we are praising his work in pithamagan. if u cant digest that... dont comment here. In all aspects a film should be analysed. According to that we are talking about the excellent BGM by raja
