Pallavi is excellent. Charanam needs a little bit improvement (THe charanam meanders a little in the line "karpooram veesadho"). Azhukkuppola breakup is very interesting. In the charanam, you should try to create a mood that is drastically different from the mood created in the pallavi.
Sense of melody is excellent. Keep it up!

RJ's interpretation of rain drops is very nice...
Especially I like the intro that you presented...perfect coherence to the theme...
Rain Drop pallavi line can be mapped with a sound note for each drop and letter in lyric like - Sa Ga Pa Da Ni Sa Ni Da Pa - Pa Ga Ri Sa - Sa Ga - Sa Ga
Very Nice and Filmy touch...

RJay,
Your composition is nice. very pleasant to hear. Guitar part has come up well too. who played that!! ;) ?
why there is a pause (dead silence) in 2:34, 2:36, 2:40? is that James Bond's "Die Another Day" theme music kind of style!!? Initially my ear had problem accepting the chords that you have played between (1:30 and 1:40) AND (2:01 and 2:12). Now got used to them.. Udhaya's lyrics is nice.. Over all your composition has come out well.

UV, Very sorry, I will try to buy a hosted site soon. - Enna panrathu, kaasu kaekkaraangalae ;)
Thanks for the comments Mahati and John.
It is a quick sketch (4 hours from conception to first draft! and had to sing low not to wake others!). I will try to embellish it this weekend.
John, I programmed the guitar on a keyboard using two tracks, one playing the chords and strums and the other playing arpeggios - like poor mans classical fingerstyle! The chords after 1:30 are cut and paste and I need to harmonize those parts afresh.

rjay,
The guitar strum was realistic. Couldn't believe you got that quality in a key board.

Thank you Da Vinci. It is a result of many many hours of studying Fingerstyle guitar and learning midi programming tricks.
For the interested, here is a 'source code' snippet:

I can explain if needed.

Rjay, good job on the trumpet and the guitar imitations(on udhaya's song). I've recently attended the BB King Concert, some 5 days back. Been reminded of that as soon as I heard your trumpet. It didnt seem like it was coming from a keyboard.
As Mahati said ur intro for Udhaya's song was really good. I am gettin an image of a slightly rainy day (vibraphone??) with busses (some brass/bass instrumetn that started at 0:07), cars and kids (flutes) on the street. Well, thats my interpretation. But on the first hearing the, the singer kinda seemed to started somewhere in the middle of something. But from what I heard, I believe an improved and complete version is in the pipeline, waiting for that.
IF u guys have time, listen to this once (Vellai Pookal from KM) and let me know ur comments. I've sequenced this on PSR550, have did this piece from my mind, so I havent got the exact bass notes/tune as in the original recording.
Hi there,
This is Vellai Pookal from KM, Sequenced on PSR550. I have played this out of mind, so do not remember the exact notes for the bass guitar. Please listen to it and let me know how it is. This is still the first sketch, so I will make changes accordingly.

rjay,
Thought I could see what you had written on producing guitar sounds in a keyboard, but your URL seems to be having some issues in it.
Sam,
Wow, that was another brilliant piece from you. Was that a real 12 string guitar strumming or from the keyboard too ? (I have a PSR 550 too and so I am natually curious).

bmarklein writes "Looks like mp3.com is no more, at least not in its current form. According to an announcement on an mp3.com message board, CNet has acquired assets of mp3.com. The statement is very vague, but it says that following the redirection of the mp3.com domain on December 2nd, "all content will be deleted from [mp3.com's] servers." However they do plan to eventually introduce "new and enhanced artist services"."

Vijay
Just listened to your tune, finally. Beautiful and simple - I am still listening to it for the 5th consecutive time as I write this post. It is such a catchy, nice tune. And your voice is nice as well with the perfect keyboard background to get into the mood. Your tune is addictive. My favorites in the song are the tune at "poikudaiyai maaratho" and "iLainyarin.....saalaiyum" - the joining back with sindhippoagum is very smooth.
rjay
Your Unseen lotus is lovely. What a pleasant feeling it created! For some reason, it reminded me of the stone tipping scene from Amelie when the camera pans all the way from her back to the front with the falls and the canal background.
I couldn't listen to your sindhippoagum, though. This geocities website is weird - it lets me listen to Unseen lotus but not sindhippoagum.
Sam
Your Vellai pookkal is lovely. Everything on a keyboard? - wow!
Aditya
You haven't been around here for sometime now. I enjoyed your pieces. The rainy day feeling was created well. I liked the bhramaram piece better. It has a nice lively feeling to it. Especially, about two-thirds of the way, when the tune gets brisk, it is really nice.

Vijay, nice tune. I liked the timing of the line "mazhaiyenum muthuth thooRal...". Normal expectation wrt to ur tune is to start that line on the 3rd beat of the bar (4/4), but ur starting on the 4th beat was cool, and also the way accent is brought back to the normal beat on the next line is good, something like Ishq Bina tune from Taal. Also, the new tunes for different parts of the song sounded as if they were in sequence rather than some random tunes for different lines.
Aditya, I could not open either of ur files.
Da Vinci and Kaumudi, thanks. The guitar was from the PSR550. It wasnt that hard, try it and u will see that it wasnt hard.
