Unearthing Rare Golden Oldies of TFM into MP3s

There are many many wonderful songs in old TFM (especially belonging to the period before 1980) which many of us have heard and enjoyed in the days of their popularity, but, as years rolled by those songs came to be heard only rarely. This thread is an attempt to unearth such golden oldies. Those who have longed to hear such songs can make a "nEyar viruppam" request here. In response, those who have the songs can convert them into MP3s and share it with others here. Through sites like coolgoose.com and Yahoo briefcase, it is now possible to do such sharing easily.

As rare songs are unearthed and brought out as MP3s, it would be natural to listen to them and discuss them here, so that this thread does not simply become just a set of requests and supplies.

My sister Sathya Kabali has a large collection of rare TFM goldies in cassettes and she is in the process of converting them into MP3s and putting them in coolgoose. The songs she has uploaded are available at this link:

  I'd asked him the list of songs he'd sung. He gave me a small list which doesn't contain this song. In fact, some of the members of this forum (TFM) like Sathya, Saravanan and others have made list of him, which has more songs than that of given by Kovai Soundarrajan himself.

  Ramki/SK, this is not exactly an oldie, but there was a song called "nandavanam poothirukku" uploaded by Ramki/Mano in their rare songs site. The link is down now. Its from the film Illam, MD-IR.   I was looking for ThiruviLaiyAdal and Kattabomman dialogues of Sivaji Ganeshan desperately on Oct 1 for a local radio station relay here in US. I looked if I can find it here, but it seems your posting was made a few hours later to my search! But anyway BB's Song of the(that) day featuring Sivaji Ganeshan's 'Asokan' helped us (we had to take the risk of broadcasting a streaming file with the hope that it won't break in between, and it didnt). I wish I had the ThiruviLaiyAdal episode that you had uploaded a little earlier to our program.
  
  By the bye, on that day, I was thinking of this song 'vandha nAL mudhal...'. I am not talking of TMS's version of the song. If I remember it right, there is another version by MSV or someone, which starts from 'nilai mArinAl...' (I have only a vague memory of it). But I remember that it was kind of much more haunting than the TMS version. By any chance, have you heard it and have that version too ? If so, could you please upload it?

  So, it was GK Venkatesh ! Thanks a lot to you. I have heard quite a few songs which I never thought I would hear again in my life by the efforts of you guys through cool goose. The lines 'pAril iyarkai padaithathai ellAm pAvi manithan pirithu vaithAne...' have always lingered in my mind and whenever I have heard the TMS version, I used to be reminded of the other. GK Venkatesh is not a playback singer and it would be absurd to compare him with TMS, but I have always felt that his version had a rustic feel that did not sound 'philosophical' at all (as with TMS's version), but so natural to someone in agony and so suited the general mood of the song much better.
