I heard that IR uses a lot of Mozart,Bach and Beethoven partly in his songs.
Anyhow,if you are in a hurry and impulsively compelled to crown IR go ahead!

I'm still not sure if we know 1400 songs of IR so well as we know 99% of ARR's songs.
I don't know how to proceed from here.

"Anyhow,if you are in a hurry and impulsively compelled to crown IR go ahead!"
Hey, What do you mean I am in a hurry. Nobody sits and counts right? Let me know whether your opinion is going to change next week. Personal judgements definitely vary. If you don't like IR on top, just replace with somebody else. That was solely my personal thought!!
IR-i porutthavarai "eppovum avar Raja" thaan. I am not doing anything new here. So called unbiased discussions lead you nowhere.

I am sorry if that sounded a little harsh. I wrote in a very normal mood......are we out from the topic..I don't think so!!

Fliflo,
That's OK.I don't take anything personal. The point is: We'd rather be unbiased than try to come to a premature conclusion.
Even if you win finally,it's not going to affect me even a little bit.Irrespective of the result, my respect for ARR and IR will remain the same.
Anyway,I think we reached somewhere and I mostly stay away from Computer on week-ends.So have a nice week-end and maybe we'll continue on Monday.
I will be out in another 10 mins.I had fun.

Flifo,
I agree and disagree with some of your comments. But I should say that U and trend and a nice discussion. Good to read. I too ahev heard almost 99% of ARR , but my knowledge of IR is limited and so is the knowledge of other ARR fans. Now, talking of MSV , my father is hc fan of MSV. He has till now not accepted anyone other that that genius. Ofcourse, he doesn't fight or do bashing. He says and I have also heard from other sources that MSV has done more that 800 films in many langs. Then, by your formula, he should stand the topmost as the inspired composistion of his should be less.
I tell you one thing. you ask anybody and they will say that OLD TAMIL songs are great. OLD TAMIL songs means only the MSV, GR, KVM songs for them. This "OLD TAMIL songs are great" comes from everbody's mouth. These are the black and white songs of MGR,Sivaji, and other. I feel that there is no comparison.

Flifo,
I found out. The one I mentioned about. That's about the Bombays's theme music.
" I am trying hard to remember the film's name. I am 100% sure that an article carrying this came in Kunkumam magazine months back."
It is here. It is
Passion by Peter gabriel - Last temptation of Christ.
I don't have the sight right now. But, would try to find out.

Nice to see you again. Has MSV done 800 movies? I don't think so. I will try to get the exact number soon. Regarding your father's feeling, I respect it. I am not in a position to confirm MSV's record...I agree Old songs are good. At the same time, there are innumerable IR songs that are just excellent. IR was the first person raised to 'hero status' just for his music. Just less than building a temple. Have you ever seen any old MD's picture in any tea stall? I bet IR was the first person to be portrayed that way and I can assure you that even now he outnumbers anybody's. Tell me truthfully, haven't you ever seen that? So many hc fans for him all over TN.
Regarding Peter Gabriel album, I will try to post it soon.

Excerpts from your old posting;
Flifo,
One of my friends strongly contended that the Bombay's theme music is a very much an inspiration from a late 70' American classic (I don't remember the film name or MD, what I remember is that it was a film about Jesus or some story or epic about Jesus).
Now, you say that Bombay music resembles Ir's How to name it.? Now, tell me is IR's a copied one.
Well. we get an interesting point here. Your friend and kumkumam both were wrong if they have written IR's how to name it was inspired from Pete Gabriel's album. I just found that Peter Gabriel's Last temptation of Christ album; It was released in 1989.
http://www.discographynet.com/gabriel/pgp.html
Release date
How to name it?- 1984 ??? (can somebody give the exact year)
Last temptation of Christ - 1989
Bombay - 1994
I leave it to oyur decision about who might have got inspired from whom? Or is Raja was the inspiration for both??
Piece of Last temptation album can be found here;

ARR used the rhythm arrangement in 'Of these, Hope' in this album for 'Anbe Anbe' in Jeans. I am not sure which track you are talking about resembles the Bombaby theme music.

there has been this myth going around for a long time that msv has done more than 8oo movies.MSV's fans have been repeating this to themself so long and so often, they have started believing it!
He has been an active composer during the period 1955-1975 and slowly exited out in the late 70's.
film making was not so busy in those days-usual number of films produced per year was in the region of 15-25.and also remember that KVM,govardhan,TR pappa and a host of others were also composing music(apart from Veda).
even if MSV had scored music for 75% at a very generous calculation of 25 movies per year
over 20 years this works to 75% of 500 -that is around 375-giving allowance for all his works in other languages,i willbe surprised if his number crosses 500-if anyone pounces on me, can you give me the name of his 400 ,500 th movie?
i very well remember that in of years like 65 or 66 the total number of movies produced were a paltry 26 or something.

One more feather in deva's cap!!!
The title score of pagaivan (going on in SUN TV right now ) is cut-paste from yanni (live @ acropolis)...thalaivar has utilized even the claps at the end of the piece !!! the movie starts with a bunch of ppl clapping :-)

Flifo,
My friend didn't mention that. I just mentioned that as has IR copied from so and so. Reason was just mathematics . U said A=B and some one (magazine) said that C = B , I resolved it as is A = C. Thanx for the inf.
I am sure that there is only little possibility of peter gabrial lifting from IR.
Regarding ARR and PG, the issue came in kunkuman as a analysed article. It didn't mention it as copied but said that Bom. th. had insp of PG.
Now, tell me does great people really think alike .?
IR is great, PG I don't know. ARR..oh God U will trash me.
I am confused.
Others:
Regarding MSV's no. of film, I got it from several TV programs about him.
Find out your self.

Flifo,
IR picture in shops..No. Now a days there not much of a craze for IR. yes, ARR colorful pictures hang in all music shops or painted ARR face in saloons (I have seen two at my place..it is there). This might be because IR is old and looks like a saint.
I am really astonished to see that IR was worshiped in TN. Yah! but, at the time of MSV, MGR and SG where one and everything. There was no scope for others. It is when , we had lousy hero's and horrible stories, IR with his mastery made films hit, he was celebrated.

Great people think alike???
Good joke. How many times ARR thinks alike like others! Hey...don't say that....
Thinking alike is valid only if they came out same time... For example "Raman effect" published both Russians and CVRaman at the same time but in different journals! year, 1924.

flifo,
Do you know one of the song in "how to name it" has been lifted from prelude in Emajor by bach.
frankly to talk about msv or anyone for that
matter, how music you have heard other than ir ?
Instead spending time on searching msv's a/c or trashing a composer or comparing few musicians, why dont you try researching on "why symphony was not released by ir?" Dont tell me msv, subudu or some xyz european has already heard it and gave ir the title "superman".
inspite of rivalary, we use to have "good" discussions here but thanks to you for converting this place to a nothing more than a bajanai kudam. On a serious note, dont spoil newtfmpage.com :(
