S.P Bala the greatest??????

hi guys,

For me spb is the best bcos he is an all rounder/versatile and conquered tfm 4 a long time...But some are saying that upcoming singers like HH and UK already reached spb's stature and maybe better than him...What are your comments??? I am a fanatic fan of this great spb..so my fellow fanatics,plz e-mail me if you want to discuss more abt spb.....

  I heard from Swamiji one day that IR used to play the guitar for Shankar-Jaikishan. IR is a harmonium player and a guitar player. I was wondering if anyone of you know about this fact and know if he played for other MD's as well. Your info would be kindly appreciated.

  IR playing guitar for Salil? I am wondering they were Bombay based MDs and must have recorded in Bombay. You mean IR went to Bombay for this or they recorded in Madras? Just wondering. Forgive my ignorance.

  dont get offended, dude . I am as big a fan of SPB , if not bigger, as are u. we were just trying to analyse SPB's rise and the 'so-called' fall here and that demands some unbiased and maybe difficult-to-stomach reasonings.
  -- there's bound to be someone as good as the coterie u mentioned who WILL come up as another classic singer ... Also, SPB started singing sometime in late 60's .. I think his first song was in telugu in 1969 . .under kodandapani ( a telugu MD .. dunno if he did any tamil mvoies .. SPB regards him as his guru even today ..thats a diff.. thing ).. people noticed him the first time when he pitted his voice against ghantasala in one of TeFM's memorable jugalbandi-ish songs .. in a movie 'eka veera' .. still, it took the decline of ghantasala, IR's vehement backing .. and a lot of directors' belief in his talent to make SPB what he is today .. and that must ahve taken a cool 10 years atleast ... when did Srinivas start singing ???

  Listen guys, this discussion is about S.P.B, but how come the discussions are leading to music directories, listen guys S.P.B is the best singer in India, not Raffi, SPB sang 40,000, raffi sang about 30,000, hence SPB > Raffi, some idiots mentioned that SPB modulates his voice 4 actors, He only does that 4 superstar "Rajnikanth", accoridng to Rajni's style, any way even if he does modulate his voice for actors, isn't that great?, that's something that Mohammed Raffi could not do, SPB express all navarsam( all expressions, such as happiness, sadness, anger) all through his songs, I can not think of any singer who can do that in Indian music, by the SPB rocks as well as classics, melodys, but Raffi can not rock as SPB, thanks

  I just perfer to tell that,although many arguments and comments about SPB only he can be best TMF play back singer forever.I 100% support what were said by manithan.Only SPB can do the modulation very well for all kind of songs!!!!!!!!!SPB the great.

  True SPBis blessed with a great voice and his talent is unmeasurable. He has an unlimited supply of variants. There was another background singer who was able to modulate his voice and emote well. He is T.M. Saoundararajan. However TMS did not have an amazing voice like SPB. However he was able to emote extremely well.
  To sivaji Ganeshan "Antha naal gnapaham nenjile vanthathe" to "Vasantha Malihai" songs.
  Also MGR songs "Aandhavan ulahathin muthalali".

  it cud have been anyone, if not for Srinivas .. I don't become anyone's fan just like that ... I just mentioned Srinivas since lot of MDs are considering him these days. cud be Rajesh, Harish Raghavendra .. anyone .. but my basic claim is that someone who is of that high quality is bound to come and we just keep hoping the next good singer is that one .... ofcourse, considering ARR's whims, I don't think he wud let anyone settle down to dominate totally .. so, those days of dominatino like TMS, SPB are gone I think ....

  SPB is the best singer both in Tamil and in Telugu, his feats are unparalleled by anyone until. I came to know from a recent interview of his in GEMINI TV(Telugu Channel) that he modulates his voice only for MGR, Rajani, NTR and ANR.

  "S.P.B" that's the only letters I love in english, because he is the not only the good singer, he is also a kind,respectfull man. I know becaue I got the great chance to meet that great, wonderful man. There will be always something speality in his each and ever song. He is a GREAT singer i have ever listen to.   some idiot here feels rafi could not modulate his voice to suit heroes. Thats rubbish. He could modulate his voice for Dilip Kumar to Rishi - EVERYONE he sang for, so much so that it is possible to make out the hero for which a certain Rafi song is sung, without seeing the song's picturization.

  gentlemen, but I hate to say this, but u r such an idiot!!. SPB has the best voice in India, no bloody doubt about that, Can raffi sing "Shankarabaranam", if he did it will sting like BS, SPB sang 40,000 songs, Raffi sang 30,000 songs, hence using simple algebra;

  About raffi's voice, he sings with his nose, where else SPB does not, can raffi beat SPB's laugh, when he signs, of course he can not, can raffi cry like SPB, when signs of course he can not.
  
  I am a great fan of SPB, I sign all his songs in concerts & competition, I have finished my carnatic music too, so I am not talking BS here!.
  
  what makes me laugh is that, raffi studied "Hindustani", music & 99% of south indian singers, even the worst singers who try to immitate SPB, like Mano have all studied carnatic music,BUT SPB DID NOT UNDER GO ANY TRAINING IN CLASSICAL MUSIC. Just listen to his voice man,
  what an enchancing, awsome voice he has, what a gift from God!, I wish for god to support SPB throughout his life, as HE IS THE LEGENDARY SINGER, THAT INDIA HAS EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!, I am sorry Gentlemen but u will have to accept it & live with it!!!

  Well said, Prem, there are many who r jealous of SPB's amazing voice, hence they suffer from inferiority complexity, such as Mr.Gentlemen, sorry to say this but his comments & name do not match !!!, I have been a great SPB fan since 1970's, even though I like KJY & Jeyachandran a lot.
  
  Raffi, has a blocked nose voice, I am sorry to say this, but it is true, hence his voice suits most of the hindi actors, but SPB has a great voice, a voice that is incompairable. Just listen to all SPB's Hindi songs in "maine pyar kiya","Saggar","Sajan","Ek du che kiliye","Hum apke khon", i can not think any more. SPB also directed music for some super hit films (25 films) like"Sigaram", (remember "vannam konda ven nliave"), thudikkum karangal (Rajni filem)

  Manic_basha2001 you are the BIGGEST IDIOT of them all. Rafi singing through his nose ???. Give me a break ??. All those hindi songs SPB sang, his voice sounds too thick and low. Rafi has a 100 times more beautiful voice than SPB. The only person who sings through his nose is Kumar Sanu. If Rafi sang through his nose, I don't think he would be the most loved singer in India. And you can't handle the fact Rafi is the best and not SPB. We can !!!. You can't also handle the fact that SPB even himself idolizes Rafi and his inspiration to become a singer was Rafi Sahab. Now tell me, is SPB an ignorant person and a crazy person to have Rafi as his idol a person who sings through his nose ( as you claim) which is total CRAP and BS. If they did, i don't think Rafi could have matched their voices when he was singing for them because Rafi had a divine voice. Just don't compare ok. It's all infront of your eyes all the facts.
