Aarum adhu aazham illai - Pudhu Vasantham - IR. I felt the lyrics and the tune to be very good. esp. the 2nd stanza. Should however say that KJY's Telugu version in it's remake is still better.

Why Not;
>>"raghu, dont give me ur condescending bs"<<, mind your slumy language, I told you to MIND your language, OK, Idiot.
I never said ARR only done 2 pathos, but I said, those two are the one worth mentioning , OK., But ARR's other(Not Pathos) are simply superb,I love them big time, FYI, I don't just go around singing IR songs, but I sing quality songs, in that case most of them tend to be IR/MSV/ARR songs, get it!!

"mind your slumy language, I told you to MIND your language, OK, Idiot."
Not Ok Idiot. If u talk down to me, this is what u'll get. If u want respect, maintain the same for others.
"I never said ARR only done 2 pathos, but I said, those two are the one worth mentioning"
Well, I disagree. I can think of many more beautiful pathos by ARR, which are more than worth mentioning. You have no authority to say he has not done any justice to them. If u had said u didnt like them, it wud have been a personal opinion and worth dismissing, but when u say he did not do justice to them, then tat is a statement u need to be able to justify. Otherwise dont make comments like that anymore.

You started this when you made the pathetic statement: "I do not agree with u about ARR doing justice to pathos song except"
The irony was I did not even mention anything about ARR's pathos compositions nor did I make any statements like MD A is better than MD B.
You started it and now finding a sad way to worm out of it since u cant justify ur bigoted statements.
"OK, go & do some cooking"
Maybe tat's wat the women in ur family do all day, but i come from a more developed society.

Yaaro
humour me-just try-think eden has given u the list.Dont back out-be brave.
My dear Yaaro, I don't know the meaning of fear. :)
The only reason I'd rather have it out with Eden is because I can have a "discussion" with him.
I don't mean to be mean or insulting, but your knowledge of TFM..... hmmm, how do I put this without offending you? ..... ahem, rather shallow. NOM :)
dont give lame excuses like I disappeared .How long can you keep arguing with people who see no reason?
You see Yaaro, inspite of giving you a long list of folk songs and showing you around TFM that existed before IR, you are still in a state of denial. This is the reason for my reluctance.
Raghu
U started this f business your self,
Can you tell me what the "f" stands for? It will help me in categorising you.

ROTFL,
I definitely know more about tfm than you. When has your discussion been anything specific? It is all nakkal postings-nonspecifics.You asked for 5 songs-I have given you 5.if you cannot, accept it.Dont say things like my knowledge is shallow.who are you to judge my knowledge and when did your knowledge become yardstick in judging my knowledge?talk about condescending attitude.
Match the following ROTFL-
Sangeetha jadhi mullai
Vaan uyarndha solaiyile
Azhaghu malarada
Mogham ennum theeyil
nirpadhuve nadapadhuve.
do that and we will see how 'deep' your knowledge is.
BTW,I was not impressed with you equating My initials with raa pitchai.that only goes to show your contempt for a fellow dfer as a human being.
If you look back,I think you have received the maximum abuse from other dfers in worst possible language(I have not stooped to your level in insulting me,so far)Think always before you type.Your neuronal circuits seem to be lacking that crucial connectivity that will tell you when sarcasm crooses the limits to become an insult.

ROTFL, yaaro...sorry guys, too busy to care about DF for a few days...
Now, what I've said was I'm game for discussion on this aspect if one is interested to quote song by song...which we can take apart and analyse...There are enough IR songs already specified in this thread (if one needs more samples, feel free to visit the permanent thread called `songs that touched us'). What I asked was numbers from the other claimants to the throne.
Please quote some of them ROTFL & we can analyse where they are stonger / weaker than Raja.
We had better stick to the dictionary definition of `emotional' BTW:-)
And whynot, IMHO, it's proper even to analyse human emotions (why & how one feels so, stimuli v/s sensation etc.) Moreover, we're in DF & not O(pinion)F:-) I for one feels that emotions are by and large shared by most humans (except those who want to live in monaestries)...the very objective of film media is to touch / evoke emotions in viewers (appealing to the heart) and quite often they succeed too. If something that evokes strong emotion in 90% of the population but 10% are not at all touched by that, they (the 10%) can claim to be `different' `elite' etc., but I feel there could be some strong reasons otherwise (physical, psychological etc.)

Raghu, `sOlai pushpangaLE' is sung by GA/PS but it's MDed by IR...originally for a film called `oomai veyil' which never got released but the song was very popular through SLBC. Manivannan purchased the rights & used in his film `ingEyum oru gangai'. (Similar case with another song in this film, sung by GA/PS again, `vadakkuththeru vaNNakkiLi')

One song that comes to my mind off-hand is 'anba sumanthu sumanthu' from Ponnumani. SPB's singing and IR's music really moves me every time I hear this fairly unknown song!
Also, 'Oh azhagu nilavu sirikka maranthathe' from My dear maarthaadnan!

My share is
"Kannil enna kaarkalam" from "un kannil neer vazhinthaal"..is this one mentioned already?
The situation is madhavi(YGMahendras sister and Rajinis sweet heart) loses her brother(YGM) and Rajini tries to console her..
What a tune and what a voice man..SPB Rulz in that song..u can hear it in dhool.com..
A truly 'not much' recognized song..
Anyone depressed and want consoling go and hear it..I dont know who's writen the lyrics..

"And whynot, IMHO, it's proper even to analyse human emotions (why & how one feels so, stimuli v/s sensation etc.)"
true. but when u take this further into analysing how various songs can emotionally appeal to different individuals, you cannot overlook personal experiences an individual may have experienced which might make a certain song more appealing than the other. How can u hope to analyse this. You can continue to analyse, but may not be able to come to a specific conclusion.
"Moreover, we're in DF & not O(pinion)F:-)"
Precisely my point too. If it comes down to merely opinions alone, then there is not much to discuss.
"I for one feels that emotions are by and large shared by most humans (except those who want to live in monaestries)......If something that evokes strong emotion in 90% of the population but 10% are not at all touched by that, they (the 10%) can claim to be `different' `elite' etc., but I feel there could be some strong reasons otherwise (physical, psychological etc.)"
Ah! Well Said Eden. That is why I said that songs by various MDs have an emotional appeal to me. What I can't understand is this certain class (elite?) of people who can claim that only songs by one particular MD have the greatest emotional appeal to them and that songs by all other TFM MDs (before and after him), have less of an emotional appeal to them. I too feel there has to be some strong (psychological?) reason for this.
My take on what these strong reasons could be.
1. These DFers were born in a certain generation, where they spent their most emotionally vulnerable period of life (eg. teens & early 20s) listening to the songs of that particular MD. Hence listening to those songs now brings them a strong sense of nostalgia and emotional response, making them conclude that only that MD has a strong emotional appeal to them.
2. Because of the mass production of music by this particular MD and his dominance of TFM for a long period of time, his fans more or less had very little opportunity to listen to other MDs for a certain period of time. Having been "trained" or "naturalised" with only a certain style of music, they reject different styles of music by other MDs/musicians and conclude that their type of "pathos" or "folk" or whatever else is not the "correct" or "real" kind...mainly because they have been trained into using their fave MD's style as the benchmark to compare other MDs and musicians.
3. Not having sufficient knowledge of other MDs' work. eg. using knowledge of only about 5 albums and mass appeal hits to make a judgement on the rest of an MD's work.
4. They conclude the MD must be the "best", simply bcos he has produced the "MOST" number of albums/songs and hence has more songs to list under each category/genre. Let's wait another 12 years and even Deva will have fans who claim he is superior to ARR & other MDs simply bcos he has done more number of songs.
I'm sure there must be more reasons (apart from pure prejudice) for this behaviour of this certain 'class' of this 'elite' few. AIMHO

Yaaro
Why are you so upset? Look at what I wrote; less than five sentences. I also said NOM. I formed an opinion of you after inter-acting with you. I don't know why you are so angry.
The fact is I did not want to discuss this matter with you, but you kept on shoving it (?!) at my face. I tried as kindly as possible to tell you why. I am sorry if I had hurt your feelings, but that was not my intention.
I definitely know more about tfm than you.
Fine. Prove it. Talk about anything but IR. :)
When has your discussion been anything specific?
Writing essays is not my style. Vettu onnu thundu rnedu is more like it. :)
who are you to judge my knowledge and when did your knowledge become yardstick in judging my knowledge?
It is natural to judge by what one knows. I can only say you are older or younger to me, based on MY age. :)
BTW,I was not impressed with you equating My initials with raa pitchai.
Sorry. I treated you like how I would treat a friend. I stand corrected.
If you look back,I think you have received the maximum abuse from other dfers in worst possible language
I remember you also told in some other thread that I and WhyNot post everywhere and when I responded accordingly, you were nowhere to be seen! :)
What you have said may be possible; but hey, it is not easy going against the tide. To have everyone flattering me here would be easy - just play to the crowd. (Thanks WN!) :)
Also kaaikkira maramthaan athiga kall adi perum. :)
(I have not stooped to your level in insulting me,so far)
Pray enlighten me.
Think always before you type.Your neuronal circuits seem to be lacking that crucial connectivity that will tell you when sarcasm crooses the limits to become an insult.
Impressive, I must say. :)
