Sandiyar renamed as Virumandi and cassette released

The most awaited sandiyar album is released .I heard all the songs.It has totally ten songs out of which 6 songs are sung by kamal himself and two are sung by illayaraja and 2 numbers by shreyaghosal.All the songs are perfect folk and 100% traditional tamil folk songs and the lyrics are excellent in the madurai slang and all are situational songs.I will meet u again with a detailed review.buy the album immediately for die-hard fans of IR

  Kamal could've done two versions of all the beautiful songs like one vida .. one with folk singer and same with professionals like SPB or Karthik.
  
  In the movie he should retain folk version to blend seamlessly with the plot or character.

  Is Kamal a genius? He is just a better actor, but saying genius is lot overstated. I am sure Big B (Amitabh) is better and composed than Kamal. I heard Mohan Lal and Mamooty are lot better than Kamal

  Kamal has proved his versatility more than all the above stated guys put together. He is not just a better actor, but knows all walks of cinema.(Unlike the others you stated who just participate in acting alone).
  
  I feel Kamal has done a lot to deserve this credit.

  agreed with Anbae sivam..on Kamal is the most Versatile actor in India...even SRK admitted that.
  
  Kamal have done acting, singing, dancing, lyrics writing, dialogue writing, directing, producing, vetting, cutting, otting, pasting, kissing(!!) and all...
  why do u still don't admit he is a Genius...i am damn sure if this same thing were achieved by Robert Redford, or Richard Gere R will say now they are genius.....rite R?

  Kamal is one of the "finest" entertainers. His movies are enthusiastic, positive and light hearted keepin with Tamil movie traditions. from Kalyanraman to Apoorva Sagortharargal to Aalavandhan, this stalwart has proved that he is a total film artiste and immersed in it. He is also lucky to have had genius music composers like Devarajan, Salil, IR, MSV give him some of the finest musical compositions. Can we say that of Rajinikanth who was happy just to have a chance to flip a beedi or two or Amitabh who played bade miyan or some coolie - these two could've done much better than that? After MGR' total involvement in films I find only Kamal has exceeded that standards but we can have only one Sivaji, one IR, one MGR and now one Kamal because of his overall talents in screenplay, singing, directing, classical dancing, excellent comedy and casting skills ( i still like Kadhala Kadhala).
  
  Kamal keep going, it is you who is keepin real Cinema alive. Go in this direction and for an international recognition like Oscars, just sheer talent never gets you, sad thing is you have to get to know the Oscar community and smooch their asses etc... that is why IR, Sivaji stayed away from awards and Rahman excels in it. No working only smooching.... too contemporary that is!!!

  Sandiyar songs are excellent. The songs are much theme oriented. It will be great to see and hear the songs in the movie. 'Onna vida' is a great romantic song. 'Kombula poova suthi' is a great rock n roll based folk. The charanam is incredible. I wonder how IR manages teh flow of the song like that.'Onna vida's charanam also takes us to a romantic mood. Marakka manam kooduthillaiyae...! like thing. Wonderful yaar. Madavilake, creates a unidentified sadness in you. That too, Kamal's voice has given the feelings exactly. 'Annalakshmi Kannasaicha'is a great folk. The other song 'Sandiyare Sandiyare' of the same tune is equally good. 'Viru virumandi virumandi' will be excellent in the movie. The voice selection to hear, is good. Many people comment on this. But, will both geniuses (Kamal and IR) do something without a reason. Let us wait and see. Virumandi will really top the Pongal releases. More than everything, in that movie, the BGM will be excellent. Let us wait and see.

  I couldnt believe it is an IR album for Kamal.....
  I am a great lover of folk (IR) songs - melody is missing in this album. Also one song resembles Annakili song(pacharisi).....

  I agree with Paran and C~P. I don't think IR will refuse national awards. At the same time we can tell he is not behind the awards. It will not make any difference to his state of mind.

  Finally got a chance to listen "Virumandi" songs.
  
  Being a HCIR Fan and equally so of Kamal
  (especially Kamal IR combo)
  Overall I felt this is one of the greatest albums by IR for this year , IMHO since Azhagi, I am not comparing with Azhagi, but the way the songs just blew me off.
  1. Viru Viru Maandi...Virumaandi"... Great song,
  
  shouldn't be this the new way of saying hello in Tamil for atleast next few months.....
  I don't know prople have called it as folk with a twist, folk with Rock feel, modern folk and what not..exactly I can't describe with words the music arrangements and interlude music which probably going to be heavily influenced by the situation and picturization in the movie unless kamal wants to disappoint everybody by putting it as the usual Title song..
  
  2. Kombule poove suthi....... song is definitely very appealing and perhaps the only song in my opinion which sounded like one of the old songs of IR very closely resembling " Chinnavar " song..."Kadaloraaaaaaa kavidaiyee" a chorus kind of song, also as mentioned by others, has flare of " annakili" song I don't understand the way the lyricist just write for the heck of rhyming...
  like in this song'Kambulethaan paal kudukkum Pasumaadu"...sounds as if the lyricist was trying to produce some imaginary ouput from the last cell of a degenrated brain.
  
  
  3. "maada..." the pathos song by Kamal is just too good with 110% emotions given in packets by kamal and Mottai...fantastic song
  
  4.I liked the Oppari song too, perhaps will blend well with the movie ( asynchrony of singer and the kottu BG rhythm very imaginative)
  
  5. I don't know what everybody is calling that "Villupaattu" or "Harikadhai" type song, it is again very good to listen with lot of folk tunes and beats
  
  6. " Unnai Vida" ...... the killer song... Guys this is a must listen song for all HCIR fans I think Kamal has done a decent job, Shreya...is very good..Can we expect a second round of IR-Chitra combo like great hits with IR- Shreya

  After all these still some thing which is very disappointing and strikingly missing ( atleast obvious for most hard core Kamal_IR combo lovers)

  Absence of SPB...... How could even Kamal ditch him ( I remember reading that SPB always was proud to tell that he is one of the hard core fans of Kamal when it comes to acting)
  and sentimentally..IR's own production/ or direct offscene involved projects have not done well without SPB ( I know I know.... I am just teasing )...
  Virumaandi would be a great hit for the mere involvement of the versatile actor in producing an authentic village based / true story based script with the grand "Viru Viru Maandi...Virumaandi" Viru Viru Maandi...Virumaandi" music by MOTTAI
