Guys,
7GRC's preview is coming on tv channels now. Yuvan has come up with a different theme music this time. Any thoughts?

Before you enjoy the failure of Yuvan go and enjoy the failure of Yuva & AE

--- Ninaithu ninaithu - Brilliant piece from yuvan.
Which version you liked more? I think KK's version is better. Though shreya's version is good, she kadichufies words (esp, vizhgal instead of vizhigal)
NagaS:
You will like the lyrics for sure. Na.Muthukumar has done a great job..

Aswathama,
hmmm....well u can't enjoy the failure of Yuva & AE cuz the music is a huge success :P and the movie isn't a failure cuz it is making profits and Mani doesn't make movies for box office success.if he did he'd just churn out masala stuff

Movie: 7g Rainbow Colony
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
1) Ninaithu Ninaithu - shreya goshal (5/5) -pick of the album melody wise-
The song has great meaningful lyrics that are rendered soulfully by shreya. The intro piano piece is excellent. If i had to choose another person to create a piece using piano other then ARR i'd go with YSR. After the singing of the intro, the base line comes in very softly and laidback not over taking the voice.Orchestration is first rate during the interlude. When the shreya comes back in,tablas are also added :D.The sax in combination with the strings is a real nice touch. It's not often that the saxophone is used in thamizh music. Overall a great song, only thing that i disliked is it had a that IR feel to it.
2) kanaa kaanu - harish ragavendra, madumitha, ustad sulthan khan (5/5)
Starts off with some nice drum beats and the violin comes in and you just wanna start smiling and run after the person u love. Then abrubtly the heavy beats come in and the song is ready to start. In comes the female singer followed by Harish. Then all the drums come in to give the song its drive. Interwoven with interludes of strings twining while ustad sulthan khan yoddles off classical drum notes nicely. The song carries on in the similair manner it started with until abt 3:25 when it breaks down into a violin solo and heavy orchestration.Switches back to the previous manner and while comming down the home stretch the singers and base line carry the song til the end for a nice sweet finish.
3) naam vayadhukku vanthom - unnikrishnan, yuvan, shalini, ganga (4/5) : (2/5)
Youthful song with a marching feel to it.Electronic clap going on and stomping. At 1:30 yuvan brings in some techno beeps making one feel we're gonna experience something awesome bt then it goes back the stomp. Special mention to Unni K for singing a different type of song...cept Yuvan's voice is heard over his. 2:30-2:45 is where Yuvan seems to be heavly inspired by the song "Oru Ponnu Onnu" from DEVA's KUSHI. And everytime i hear that it angers me and he once again does this when the trumpet plays from 3:22-3:33 then again at 4:12-4:27 plucking a violin.and well the resemblence is too much for me tis why it got knocked down from a 4 to a 2. You pull out those three sections of the song and its a 4.It would have gotten a 3 had he not ripped VS's Mainave Mainave in "Tamil Nattu Pen" from Aethiree at 2:05-2:25.

4) january matham - mathangi, kunal (3/5)
these kind of songs don't do much for me.item number types of songs.so imma just leave this one alone cuz i skip this song most of the time, unless im in the mood.SO just avg.
5) Enna Vazhkal - Unni K? (0/5)
ARGH this song is so dumb, especially the carnival bit at 1:06-1:27. I'm hoping this song is situational and is necessary.otherwise its a waste of the time and effort of the technicians and the film the song is placed on. Don't get me wrong it has its moments like the strings at 2:08-2:34 followed by the chorus but that's not enuff to save the song.Too many known tunes mixed in a jumble that doesnt work very well.
6) kan peasum varthaigal - karthik (5/5)
Wooooooot this song pulls the heart strings and makes u wanna waltz ard. Great lyrics and sung amazingly by Karthick. One note is that i feel like this is a slowed down version of Thotu Thotu from Kadhal Kondein.Just was the impression it left on me in many places. But still a wonderful song.Has a nice train beat going thru the whole song, accompanied by strings and flute here and there.Karthick and the train beat is wat carries the bulk of the song.It doesn't need me to boast it anymore Karthick does it on his own as usual.3:15-3:53;thunder and rain sounds come in with a nice melody taken away from an electronic flute. Ends quietly.
7) ithu porkalama - harish ragavendra (5/5) -pick of the album in terms of freshness-
the song start with sum beats first 10 seconds and i thought "oh no he's gonna pull stuff from ARR's New New song from New," but then it goes to a rock style with strings playing inbetween and i let out a sigh of relief and enjoy the song. Is nicely interwoven from hard Rock to soft rock.I realli like how the changes are done abruptly with a short pause then he drops down all the music.nice touch. Also the way the lyrics are sung in a train manner in portions also adds to the song.but i didnt like the way the song just ended...i wanted it to go on longer :(
8) kanaa kaanu - female solo (4.5/5)
ends with the duet version and makes you want to run after the person you love and embrace em. Nothing more needs to be said abt the song cuz i said it all in the first xcept in this version we have K K who compliments shreyas voice extremly well. And the only reason this is given a 4.5 instead of a full 5 is because the Kay Kay version was better and i just couldn't give them the same rating.
Overall:
3.94/5 : 3.69/5 (one is counting song #4 as just a song and the other as my anger toward yuvan for using Deva's song in #4) Basically a mix of Thullavatho Illamai and Kadhal Kondein (youthfullness and melodies) nothing new.An album worth buying. This is prolli the second best album this yr.dunno ye cuz we still have many months left.YSR picks himself back up after the mess up with Aethiree and Perazhagan.and shows us that taking your time is always best.

People are day dreaming about the success of Ayudha Ezhuthu and Yuva. I never seen a crap movie like that in a such a long time. BGM by Praveenmani is the only saving grace since he followed Harris Jeyaraj style.

I liked 'Kanaak kaaNum', 'PorkkaLamaa' and 'Vayathukku' songs immediately - Couldn't enjoy 'ninaiththu ninaithu' because of shreya's BAD tamil (But, She was okay in all the songs she sang for IR, does that mean YSR is not concerned about tamil pronounciation at all ?)
What I liked most is, Na. Muthukumar's lyrics - In a 'youth' subject like this, you have every chance and rights to write stuff like cell phone, sim card, computer, internet in ALL the songs - But he has given us a clean 'tamil' album with wonderful lyrics - Except one song may be ! (We need to appreciate 'SelvaRaghavan' also for this !)
Yuvan, Please use Na. Muthukumar more often than Pa. Vijay ...

and I enjoyed the surprise usage of 'unni krishnan' in 'vayathukku vanthom' song :) ... Singer Yuvan's tamil improved too ...
Karthik song would've been better with HariHaran ... Somehow I feel karthik sings every song in same 'alatchchiyamaana' or 'alattalaana' voice with no improvements / modulation / whatever technical term it is ...

The only negative point in Na. Muthukumar's lyrics for 7G is, he follows 'vairamuthu' kind of 'kaathal kolai' lyrics in the 'porkkaLamaa' song - Why so much of 'killing' and 'thinning' (I mean eating :) etc., in a love song ? TFMkku oru kaattumiraaNdik kaathal lyricst pothum ayya !

When I hear Ustad sultan khan's humming in the first interlude in Kanakkalam, somehow Im reminded of "Isayil thodanguthamma" from Hey Ram. Is it because of a similar voice/raaga/style of singing ?
