Please listen to the following songs again and again and you will clearly understand the depths, breadth and heights to which Ilayaraja has gone like no other creative genius has. This is a real lesson in the most exceptional and complex of musical composition delivered just simply like that by IR for the ordinary listener:
Chandirarum Suriyanum by IR in AVADHARAM (find one like this in the next galaxy if anyone can)
Kannalen Kaadhal by KJY & SJY in Aathma
Kai veesum Thamarai by SPB & SJ in Kanni Rasi
Nilavu Onru Kanden - as above
Yen Kanavina Kellu by Hariharan in Desiya Geetham
The Dance duet in Raasayya (absolutely stunning)
Nandavanthil by SPB in Annai Oru Aalayam
Sembaruthi Poove by Mano & Sunandha in Sembaruthi
Nila Kaayum Neram Saranam by SPB & Sunandah in Sembaruthi
O Nenjame by SJ & DChakravarthi in Enakaha Kaathiru
Yengum Niraindha KJY & SJ in Idhu Eppadi Irukku
Vellin Nilave SPB & UR in Nandavan Theru
and, I am telling you this is just touching the surface, but these compositions require a lot of listening to know that evey other composer, band or group or act or whatever or anybody is just a speck of dust in the shore that of IR's ocean of music! Anyone can challenge me with any song of any other composer of this earth and tell me if I am wrong.
Long Live the Avataram of Ilayaraja

Is this "CREATIVE GENIUS" (past, present and future) does include music only or on the whole, I mean creativity as such?

True-Ir is the best MD Indian Film indutry has ever produced.
But guys -Times have changed.
Now it is the turn of ARR.
At all times MD's who could impress the teens made success-example -IR('aathadi pavada kaathada')-those songs which woo the teens-werw not welcomed by the Old grown-ups at that time-example -My grandfather getting scolded by his granpa for singing 'manmatha leelai yai vendrar unndo'during his teens.
this is the general trend which prevails-and this is what we call as generation gap.
IR's regime is over -it does'nt mean he cannot compete with today's MD's (recent example AZHAGI)-But the current younger generation is attracted by fast based peppy numbers-and when they get that same flavour in their native language-they get attracted-best example is myself.

Hi,
Whoever learnt to play any instrument and listened to IR songs would realize IR's music and its depth. I felt that. He has composed songs unique for different instruments. For example,
1) Flute: Chinna Kannan from Kavi Kuyil
2) Guitar: Devan Thiru chabai from Avar Enkke Sondham (Chords are not known to many guitarists.)
Listen a few times to realize. This is not to say that ARR and others are not competent. They are but, they have reached different masses.

recently i found a song in the movie Soolam: Naan Devadhai by SJ. long, long ago heard. proof one obscure like that can unnerve one.....
challenging Musical concepts, without secure borders, that is what i think is in today' words for a stupid paranoi world we live in. IR gives that security, man

Kaalam, you have reminded me of kadantha kaalam when this soolam song was one of my most fav numbers. I particularly swoon for the charanam opening lines "Ezhil megangal thozhigal
Nilaa kaalangal raagangal" and the small musical (guitar???) piece that follows those lines. wow!!!
BTW, where did u listen to this song?

Here is what ARR fans can do.....
1) While ARR scre*ws your mom in her mouth, you fist her in doggy style quite deeply. Though painful, she and you and ARR will thoroughly enjoy it. Your mom will squirt her cum by just this fisting alone. She'll be so wet that you can shove your fist even deeper.
2) Another method is you can get your sister into this act and make her use a double-ended dildo with your mom and shove it deep into both their pus*sies. All this while they both suck your co*ck and ARR's circumsized puny co*ck. Wow, a 4 way connection! And when both your sister and mother's pus*sy are so wide open after the fisting and dildoing, you can shove ARR's head into it....in and out.
Gosh, that must have turned you on.
More to come.

dear god
where is newtfmpage going? Please people, dont spoil newtfmpage with any vulgar posts - noone is to be spared IR fan or ARR fan.
and yes I agree with Isai Kadavul Bakhtar - IR is a true genius ... he does give that 'completeness' when you hear his songs. For a sample, just listen to 'Vegam Vegam' from Anjali ... just see his use of the violins and the guitar ... hear the violin mesmerize you when usha uthup sings "Naamum siragai" and 'Minnal azhagai" ... no words to escribe the feeling you get!

And I totally agree to what ray says: ARR and IR have reached differnt masses. For that matter, I'm just 22 and I started hearing IR seriously just 3-4 years back ... and I still get amazed with his usage of instruments and chord progression, not to mention his melodies!

Isai Kadavul Bakthar,

Ray,
You are hundred percent right. If anybody learns Instrumental Music he will realize the value of IR easily.People who listen to IR music normally tend to listen the sounds in the background a lot.In fact if you listen to IR's pre80 songs he will use shift from one set of instrument to other instrument for every 10 seconds during the interludes. There will be a Guitar piece, followed by some violin and then a flute piece and it will go on.Eventhough there are lot of Music Directors now they do not offer the variety in the interludes. In fact the new songs I hear they often repeat the same music through out the song.

Rajasaranam: Thanks a lot. I know what you mean. As a guitar learner, I really marvel at his instrumenta pieces. And yeah, ganspb is absolutely right ... once you listen to the backgrounds in IRs music, there is no need for another heaven.

no doubt. especially in each song, you can get atleast 2 signature phrases, think of hollywood searching hard for a signature tune like Beverly Hills Cop (they get one gem like that once a decade!!!), and IR dishes similar stuff in first and second interlude in each song.
best eg: Unnai Kannum Neram; Devan Koil Deepam Ondru.
this is priceless treasure IR' ocean of music is giving us without most of us really knowing the value.

Looks like a few of you notice the interludes in IR's songs rather intimately...there lies his greatness...
Is there anyone more knowledgeable can comment on the second interlude in, "Thalattuthe Vaanum.." in Kadal Meenghal?..I am mesmerized and motionless everytime when I listen to this...undescribable..I get a feeling of piffany..flute, scores of violins, perhaps banjo, bass guitar and what else? Anyone observed more intimately?
