Dear Friends,
Let us vote for 'Adi Rakkamma' from THALAPATHI as our choice for the World's Top Ten Songs poll conducted by BBC!
I am suggesting this song because if in case the BBC people listen to the nominated songs, they will feel knocked out on hearing our Maestro's 150 Vioins' Strings Ensemble!
Let us all do it at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/us/features/topten/
Yours Always Musically,
Vijay.

VM at 2 might not be entirely an ARR album but the it seems they play there on ARR VM. Also all the fight here was happening only on ARR/IR name. Many IR fans didn't vote VM because they thought it is by ARR. Now tell me, as an Indian had we voted for VM as a national song then we wouldn't have seen the day where the paki b*****d stands just behind us holding a gun.

if yall notice, first 3 songs came from nowhere because rakkama was keeping at first. I doubt people cared to vote for vande matarm or any other patirotic themes. So this exercise was cooked up by BBC just to show empathy to Pakistan and Ireland. Why I say, no Irish really cares about the BBC! But, BBC also owes to American audiences because earliest settlers arer Irish, W. Bush is alos or Irish descent if I am not mistaken, Clinton is and much of America's contempt of Britain (as you see in Hollywood filsm) is because Ireland has been made a mess by Britain.

So this exercise was cooked up by BBC just to show empathy to Ireland and Pakistan. Why I say is, no Irish really cares about the BBC tv or radio! But, BBC also owes to American audiences because there is a large ethnic Irish. Earliest settlers arer Irish, W. Bush is also of Irish descent if I am not mistaken, Clinton is. Much of America's contempt of Britain (as you see in Hollywood films, eg.. Patriot Games) is because Ireland has been made a mess by Britain.
If you see for non-patriotic songs, Rakkamma stands first. At present, BBC does not want to show that some extraordinary Indian is top of the pops or even acknowledge the fact that there is a composer far ahead of anyone they know. I think they are downplayin it. So, we just got to wait and see what next. But, i feel IR' music does not need publicity or propaganda, when it happens that is it, man.....

When the poll was in its infancy, BBC had conceded that majority of the polls were from India. That being the case, from which high heaven did that Irish song drop in? That too a song which was never in the reckoning for the top 10.
It is quite clear that this was a shameful exercise for BBC to indulge in shenanigans of the highest order. First, they dismissed off the top songs with typical indifference. Soon, they went on to remove the result chart. And finally they come up with this contrived result. BBC stooped to conquer!

Guys, r u kidding? Why wud BBC want to show empathy to an Irish song tat goes "A Nation Once Again"? Isnt there a limit to tis? Actually there is a world out there bigger than ARR vs IR & the Irish have more reason to rig the polls for ANOA than any ARR or IR Fan. Why can't we jus accept it instead of coming up wit some conspiracy theory. And it's not as if VM or RKT were 100% true & genuine votes.

BBC Politics
Could this be a joint operation by CIA & IRA ?What are Mossad s views on this?Is it true Blair wanted Cliff s song but Maggie & Major still playing backroom politics just pushed this song forward to buy peace from Belfast to emabarass Tony.
Do you really think Powell could be involved? Is Kissinger s resignation something to do with this poll?

how stupid can we get?. First similar fools made amitabh the actor of the millenium!. Email and forum campaign for rigging polls is a shame. Be it IR fans or any fans, playing the national card. You guys were fooled by another ireish group. Now VM stands with songs like 'poovum nakuthu ...'. It deserves much better treatment guys.
- From: Poove Poochoodava (@ 205.188.208.37)
on: Sun Dec 22 13:57:07 EST 2002
kk, poovum nadunguthu is a patriotic song, so most patriotic themes are featured except rakkamma, though it is a patriotic theme for IR fans. poovum nikithu is a good tune and it is the words not the music that matters. i am all for poovum nakuthu as one of top ten, which also came overnite like the Irish song. if only poovum nesikuthu toppled the Irish song, we could've rejoiced for a Tamil song as no.1 even though Srilankan' Tamils themselves may not have heard of this song.
But, Prabhu has the complete insight into this Steven Written poll

Hey....10 days back ,"Rakkamma" was at NO.1 position with more than 50% of votes. Iam really
surprised to see it No.4 now.
Also the funniest part is that BBC has mentioned "Thalapathi" is a remake of "God Father"
hahaha

aren't we all upset over nothing........I agree we all voted for our song...we wanted our own song to top the list........just 'cos VM or RKT didn't top, how does it affect our patriotism......if BBC can let Amitabh win, why wont they let RKT or VM......if we can rig the poll, why not Pakistanis? guys aren't we taking it too far? it just music and our favorite music director......it is just a measure of poll rigging....it is not a measure of patriotism....that is a different issue needs to be shown differently..............

I guess someone should advise CNN.com to come up with a similar poll like this BBC one. Someone can explain them about the number of hits that BBC got during the poll and convince them. And all ARR & IR fans would have a list of 'Lessons Learnt' this time :-))
