Wait over, Baba storms TN music charts
Chennai, Aug 1
The wait is over. It's festival time for the fans of superstar Rajnikant as audio tapes of his much-hyped Baba opened to a never-before reception late on Wednesday.
The tapes, which were expected to release on July 15, have been caught up in one too many issues. A unique marketing strategy, tagging movie tickets to reservation coupons for the audio tapes, had generated mixed response.
However, there has been no want of clamour for the tapes, what with A R Rahman teaming up with the superstar for the third time, after Muthu and Padayappa.
The songs have been received with much fanfare, though there are talks that the customary Rajni stamp is missing. Rahman has a tradition of churning out megahits after dull starts and from the sound of it, Baba has at least three songs which are superhit material.
Add to that a heavy dose of punchlines and innuendos, this is one album which could have the fan asking for more.
Meanwhile, the much-under-wraps production details of the movie suffered a setback when a leading Tamil magazine published exclusive stills from the movie, much to the bewilderment of the superstar himself.
Making amends were officially released stills, splashed all over the leading dailies, adding to the now-legendary hype for the Suresh Krissna-directed movie.
Slated for an August release, Baba has everything going for it right now. Even threats triggered off from political circles add to the curiosity value.
No wonder Rajni, who is producer himself, isn't complaining, say industry grapevine.

A great hit by ARR. The song "Sakthi Koddu" is very inspiring. But I would like to point out something to those people who quarrel over IR vs. ARR. We have to realize that both have had heavy contributions to the tamil film music. ARR's hits tend to grow on people, whereas IR's ones tend to be catchy on the first listen. So please stop quarreling over who is better. They are both very good in their own rights.

How many days this ARR is going to give out craps like this!!!

I am more and more convinced he just composes whatever he thinks. He just adds some music deletes some and gives some crap. I will comment each song
1) Dippu Kumari
I think music scored by college students in hostel on desks and chairs would be better than this music. Very ordinary effort by Shankar Mahadevan. Stupid lyrics. Vain attempt to imitate Bangara music. Weird musical mix. Stay away from this song as far as possible.
2) Baba Kichutaa
Indha kartuazham mikka padal, it resembles a lot some muthu song in between. He has just changed into a fast beat. Pronunciation and lyrics less said is better. It resembles a lots of songs from ARR. This song is a testimony to his recycled tunes. Stay away from this song as far as possible
3) Maya Maya
Maya Maya chaya chaya.. resemble some other song of ARR. Another bad tamil Another bad singer from ARR troupe. We should execute the lyricist at sight. I don't know if the singer is bad. Or he asks them to sing bad. Forgettable song. Don't even listen to it more than once.
4) Rajjiyamma Rajjiyamma
If you ever listened to tiruch radio station in 1980 from 12:50 to 1:00 there would be a mellisai. Most it is by T.R.Pappa. If you have listened to that you don't have to listen to this song. T.R.Pappa will sue ARR for plegiarizing!!!
Bottomline it is another crap.
5)Shakthi kodu
Well it is a bournvita advertisment with hifi music. Lots of action packed music. Instruments used randomly. There is no sequence in composing. It resembles an old song. Tamil pronounciation is horrible. Unforgivable tune.
6) Theme Music
Copy from Italian and Chinese music. Only difference it is no where near the class of
them
I guess he needs to examine his head before giving out music like this. First thing i did after i listened to these songs, needless to guess i deleted them. I hate Baba music more than Windows 98!!

Lots of Non IR fans have said it is terrible!!!
Are Yaar is so desperate that he automatically concludes anybody who doesn't like BABA songs are IR fans!!! I sympathize with you and your 'demi god'. Nalla velai
BABA BLACKSHEEP tunea copy adichittu, theme songnu podala!! He is capable since he is shameless!! I talked to like 30 or 40 friends over the last week!! I wasn't surprised when all of them hated this crappy BABA music!!! Worst Theme song one can hope to listen to!!!. I used to criticize ARR music!! Compared to BABA his previous works were better!! You can imagine how bad this BABA is!!! I have deleted all the songs moment i listened to it!!!

The baron of the box-office, Rajnikanth is back with Baba, due for
release on August 15. In Tamilnadu, Rajnikanth is the demi-God and
his films have the biggest hype all over the world. The film also
seems to be the political launch pad for the actor. Recently while in
Singapore at a show, the superstar hinted that he might be declaring
his long innings in films and might step into something new, which
could be politics. The tagline for the film says- "Known is a drop..
Unknown is an ocean..!
Rajnikanth is a lorry driver living somewhere in a lower middle class
North Chennai. He is basically a do-gooder, who raises his voice
against injustice and big bullies. He is assisted in all his good
deals by a Television anchor (Manisha Koirala). But soon Rajni rubs a
local politician and his son the wrong way. This powerful politician
who has nexus with the underworld orders that he should be taught a
lesson. The lorry driver is kidnapped and beaten to pulp and assuming
that he is dead the villains throw his body from a mountaintop. A
Sant (Sayaji Shinde) finds him and nurses him back to life. Rajni
becomes the devotee of this Sant who has some magical powers and
continues to live in the ashram. But one day the Sant reminds him
about his duties towards the poor and needy, gives him a ring and
asks him to save the people from `the scum of the earth'- corrupt
politicians. The Sant blesses Rajni and thus he is enlightened. He
comes back as Baba and how he cleans up the society from corrupt
politicians and instals one of his associates to lead the state and
after that he goes back to his mountain abode.
Suresh Krissna directs the film. Music by A.R.Rahman is already a big
hit and the cassettes are selling like hot cakes. Vaali and
Vairamuthu have written the lyrics. The cast also include Goundamani,
Aashish Vidyardhi, Sayaji Shinde, Nassar, Sanghavi, Ramya Krishnan
and Deepa Venkat.
