Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

Sa Ga Ri Ma
is an interesting combination. The songs i can recollect on this combo start are
Ore Padal unnai Azaikkum -Engiruntho vanthal-MSV(But this song fully follows the Harikambodhi swara pattern)
Chinna chinna aasai-Roja-ARR (A Sankara-Hari pattern)
Nadeem Shravan s "Hum Hai rahi Pyar" - a typical NS prasavam also follows Sa Ga Ri Ma.

bb- thanks for this melodious song. Brings me memories of going all the way to 'Prarthana' to watch this film, with my friends, and falling asleep half-way! The heroine, Bindiya(Farheen?),
was a one-film wonder,like Roshni of Guna.

Saravanan,
I was looking forward to your comments covering the other songs in the same film!
I have seen another song on TV: A 'daandiya ras' song: 'dilbarjani....'It was piucturised well.
To me,'endhan nenjil neengaatha' sounds very close to 'thoongaatha vizhigaL reNdu' from ' agni nakshathram'. Raga experts may like to comment!

CV- 'Dil bhar jaane dil deewaane thithikkira thene' - Mano-KSC was a catchy song. Other songs-'Edakkumadakkaana sarakku'-SPB and 'Kokkarakko kozhi'-Kamal (with Sivaranjini and a snake!)are forgettable.
I too don't know much about ragam etc, but 'Thoongatha vizhigal rendu' is said to be based on Amruthavarshini.

Nalinakanthi is indeed a Janya ragam of (27) Sarasangi and not (29) Dheerasankarabaranam;the difference being the "Dha" between these two melams which is not part of Nalinakanthi structure.

Also listen to "Rajanodu Rani" from Sathi Leelavathi. This song set in sarasangi has a similar feel as the MD moves closer to the Janaka ragam. That s IR the theoritician for you.(however to me Rajanodu is a very ordianry tune unlike Enthan nenjil).
Rehman using Nalinakanthi gives you more Sankarabaranam feel in KKKK with Piano naturals. For Deva it is simple to get Nalinakanthi ..rip off Manavylaka.(But that Simran song ....Nejil nindra ragam ...Vendam..Kudumbathila Kozhappam varum). Can someone clarify whether Sabesh-Muralis "Samudram "song by ShankarMahadevan has Nalinakanthi (in the stanzas)

" He should have avoided that alapana, and that person too, in that song! (I think it is he who has rendered that short piece!). "
Do u guys feel that that alapana is by IR?I dont feel like that..Did he is the one who did that alapana?

peeps, yes, I think it is by IR.

I'm sure it is NOT IR.

as a seasoned music listener, i find Endhan Nenjil Neengatha a surprise composition, in the same leage as Kannana Kaadhal Kavitha Sonnale... in Aaatma. Very simple tune yet composed in a unusual style. I saw Kalaignan and I must say IR had very different ideas in the background score and the song tunes which I am sure inspired the sophisticated style adopted in Aalavandhan. Until i saw the stupid movie Kalaignan I thought Aalavandhan's score was very fresh and new, but hey IR did it then too, though rest of the songs were somewhat strange, they were very lighthearted!
Btw, Raajanodu Raajayogam in its entirety is one of IR's most brilliant songs, especially check out interlude 2, which is just an amazing musical idea!

Some more info on "endhan nenjil" ...the starting and the ending of the song is same...that music piece..
And throughout the song we can hear a sssshhhkkk(knife cutting the air) kind of sound..
A tough song to render for a singer..And as archivist said some IR+KJY+Synthetic beats songs are in the same league..
