isai,
No offence.
The kadalar dinam song sounds like "thu ye raja" a hindi song that comes in Varumaineram sivapppu.
Not "chipi irukudhu".
Hope your judgement on "enatha povilum vasam" was not like the above, I am planning to get the CD.If it does not sound like what you claim - I will send you the bill and the Cd, :)))

'rOjA rOja rOja' is a rehash of MSV's 'thu hai rAjA main hoon rANi' which is again a repeat of his own 'ennai vittAl yArumillai' from nALai namadhE.

thu hai rAjA main hoon rANi

roja roja roja roja
The first line from the self-titled song from VNS.
The second line is from last 2 lines of chippi irukkudhu from VNS.
Above all, the originalest-original is from the a Hindi song ( rajesh kanna, hema malini), 'yE lAl rang - kab mujE chOdEgA' ( kishore kumar, SDBurman) the films' name is 'Mohabbat' or something..

One soga news;(( Vidhyasaagar is making his grand entry into the copied list here for copying the idea for the prelude of his song 'vaa sakhi vaa sakhi'(Arasilyal) from the song Return to innocence by Enigma. But still he has copied only the first few notes and not(hoefully) the whole song which is set in sriranjani. the english song has many versions and one version which i heard initially didnt have this piece but i happened to download another version of the same song yesterday had that piece;)) So i guess VS was a bit intelligent in choosing this song to flick the nore as he would have thought many people would have missed hearing this version;)) so people who have already a version of this song and havent noticed the piece that Iam talking about need'nt be surprised. Ihave considered VS to be really innovative and fresh and so far he hasnt disappointed me. even in this song i feel the rock guitar use in the interludes of a classical raga based song like this was something fresh. I hope he hasnt flicked that from somewhere;))
the clip would soon be on the copied list.

Karthi and other contributors,
As I have been concentrating on the priginals for a while I would appreciate if u could send whatever Tamil duplicates u have to RR so that we could complete the list in the site and then we could go about deciding what was an inspiration and what was not.

The song in Valee 'oh sona' is no doubt from The Art Company's 'Suzanna'. But there is another song inside it!
Andy William's 'Where do I begin' from Love story.
Did anybody notice?

For anybody who had heard/read that the Bombay theme was copied from the movie theme of Wyatt Earp, check out Wyatt Earp the movie in HBO (India) on Thursday (August 3rd). You can catch up with the theme music when the credits roll in the beginning.
You could curse the moron who told you its copied!

why blame only deva for copying. the cut and paste master today is ARR.
recent example- smayyi... manadai thirudivittaL.
original pallavi- andru vandathum adhe nila..
original charanam- naan kavinganum illai,
aha mella nada etc.,
chandana thendralai-
original pallavi- prem hi ganga bahathe chalo and'
bol radha bol sangam...
let us accept ARR has run out of ideas.

I find it hard to understand you posting. there are two possibilities:
(1) Credits have ARR's name
(2) the theme music is entirely different.
what was your point ? Please explain. thx

MS, What I meant was this....
There is a widespread allegation on Rahman that he copied his celebrated bombay theme music from various sources. It also includes an obscure Russian piece (sounds like somebody playing it in their synth!) posted somewhere on the net and the theme music of the Kevin Costner movie, Wyatt Earp. I've seen the movie and even heard its theme music. It doesnt have anything in common with bombay theme!
Check the movie if you dont believe me. There are instances of sweeping violin interludes, but all sweeping violin interludes dont mean they are the basis of bombay theme.

Sundu baby,
The only thing I can accept is your lack of musical knowledge. Seems like your aim is not to learn anything about music - just bash Rahman!
Try singing your songs aloud and you'd find that everything is your state of mind (sic). Sad man, very sad.
On the other hand, I happen to come across this posting in another msg board. Just see how much truth is in these statements...
Ilayaraja's songs...
Rajakumaran's 'ennavendru solvathamma' - 'athai madi methai adi' - I agree its the santham and not the tune per se.
otha roopa thaaren - ennadi muniyamma un kannile mayee - I think this is a great example!
manguyile poonguyile - yeru mayil yeri vilayaadu mugam ondru - another good example.
Karthik
PS: My aim is not to malign Raja (there can never be another Raja - ever) but I find it terribly amusing that you come up with such obscure examples to malign Rahman. Do it right next time, man!

yEru mayil yEri viLaiyaadum mugam ondru has two versions - original folk and cine (K.P.SundharaambaaL ?). Karthi is referring to the original version, I hope. It is indeed very much the same.

Heavy inspiration
MD :- Balabharathy (Amaravathi)
Song :- Tajmahal thEvaiyillai annamE annamE
Source:-
Panneer pushpangal (PoonthaLirAda ..) Watch out for violin piece and following orchestration before second saranam.
- From: RR (@ proxy.krdl.org.sg)
on: Wed Aug 2 04:39:17 EDT 2000
IRfan: balabharathy has himself admitted that he was inspired by 'aanandha raagam' (panneer pushpangal) and how to name it (main piece)..
- From: Karthik (@ 12.10.193.123)
on: Wed Aug 2 04:39:58 EDT 2000
Balabharathy's 'tajmahal thevayillai' from the movie amaravathy is based on the carnatic raagam 'simmendra madhyamam'.
Ilayaraja's song 'aanandha raagam...' from panneer pushpangal is based on the same raagam, so the similarity. Its not a copy. But what is this 'poonthalir ada' number???
- From: Jee (@ 193.188.124.130)
on: Wed Aug 2 08:42:45 EDT 2000
Sorry guys,
It was Aanandha raagam only. I messed up. Just now listened to that song. Some similarity is definitely there. Especially, the music before second saranam

on: Wed Aug 2 08:44:58 EDT 2000
If the MD admits "inspiration" means, what ? We should not tell anything ? Then, Deva admits for all his songs. :-)

Mr.Karthik,
Sundar has only pointed out the fact that
ARR has copied as much as Deva (which is
definitely not an exaggeration). Why you
have to launch a personal attack on him
and more than that malign IR (it is
very clear that you are doing that eventhough
you are denying it)?
This is a very good example of
a ARR fan deriding IR when some fault
in ARR's music is pointed out.

Athi:
The examples that sundar gave for puching his point, are wrong. ( I will be surprised if I see atleast 3 notes in a row which are similar). If you can prove they are right by explaning the notes, you are substantiated. Else, you are siding a person who has displyed his ignorance. In the latter case, you know where you are.
