Can any HCIRF please enlighten this poor soul?
1.How many movies have run simply because of IRs rerecording?
2.Has he managed any recognition at the state, national,Asian, international levels for his BGM ?
3.Has he won any awards (say like Filmfare,Zee ,IIFA etc ) for his BGM?( i hear Adhesh Srivatsava won a Filmfare or Zee award for his BGM in "Border")
4.Who would you rate as the other good BGM scorers at the national ,international levels? (apart from the staple answer "Nobody")-[This is just to determine where he stands vis-a-vis "Them"]
5.Why is he not getting offers to score BGM for Hollywood movies when his credentials are extraordinary as per your judgement?
6.Are there any awards instituted by our govenments for BGM ...like the ones for special effects, editing? If they exist has he won anything? If it does not why don tyou guys make a representation to the government?(But if the Governement accepts your representation and gives the award to some other MDs .....)
7.Mention some scenes wherein without his BGM the scene would have fallen flat pulling down the whole movie.
8.Are there any movies by other MDs in which the BGM was ...say..Ok!?
I shall request all non-IR fans not to post in this thread.Lets listen!

IR can do what they do! agreed!
But Mr.Uthaman
HAS HE DONE SOMETHING AT THAT LEVEL ALREADY?
Please review your statments.
I was not talking about OScar alone...I wanted to know about ANY OTHER awards/nominations.
Unfortunately in India ...
India layam illa ..VeLI natlayeum illa.then where ?
Sorry to say that Sivaji HAS won an international award at Cairo for Veerapandiya Katta Bomman. He might not have won an Oscar, national award. But HE WAS RECOGNISED IN A MULTI NATIONAL EVENT WITH MULTIPLE ENTRIES FOR THE HONOUR.
<<815 movies have run because of IR rerecording..>>
This is why i wanted the reasons.Uthaman your indifference towards facts amuses me.

OSIG, you wanted straight forward answers, AWE gave that. You may challenge the view (I feel nothing to challenge) with in the perview of question. now having agreed those points, again asking some other questions which are differnt from that of what you asked in the first place, this will go on and on.. For the 7th point
Good example is Agni Natchatram, the whole movie is balanced in BGM only.

I don't agree that agni natchatram was balanced in BGM only. The movie had a water-tight script that would have carried it through anyday

Good thread, OISG.
It's good to sit back and watch the fanatics making an idiot of themselves. Wat an embarrasement to IR.

This BGM thing becomes more and more intriguing.
Other than 815 films all people could point out was just one film ..."Azagan".
ARR since 1996 did not do BGM for many of his movies. But still criticised for poor BGM in his movies! For many of his movies like Thenali Sabesh -Murali have been given title credits for BGM.
Many re recordings of IR were done by Gangai Amaran,GK venkatesh and ofcourse MSV himself.(someone heard loud beats at the fag end of the movie !) But IR gets the full praise for all the 815!With the volume he was handling without so many people he could not have managed the assignements.
I wanted some internationally reputed BGM/Original music scorers names ,their movies.Till now no one has given.

I know you have stuff and points to discuss. Even though I disagree only partly with you, I still would like to know your argument. Kindly ignore all the PAs and continue.
From a point of view of a genuine Music fan, I feel IR did not get the recognition that he should have got. BGM awards should have been there and he would have got them.
But, as a frustrated Music lover and largely because of the HCIRF, I tend to feel that IRrukku idhuvum venum innumum venum.
HCIRFs vengence is all because of ARR achieving so much and IR none.
Vidhinnu onnu irukke.
Survival of the fittest.
IR might have got a raw deal, what ever ARR has got, he deserves every single atom of it and he deserves more. If every one understands that then there is no fight here.

OISG,
I don't know whether IR's BGM is internationally known or not.
I don't care basically.
If Shivaji Ganesan is not internationally known , I would not care either.
I would not care if ARR becomes the next MD for Spielberg or Camerroon. I would wish him all the best.
I would , however , bother if those who had lisetened to IR's BGM talk so silly ,so stupid and so illogical.
Really. get yourself treated. It will do a lot good to you.

Good points Are Yaar...I second you on that.
IR has not got the recognition he deserved. I remember how his BGM for the last scenes of Kadalora Kavithaigal spoke everything frame by frame without the dialogues....
but I also remember ARR's haunting and mystical Baba theme music repeated at the apt times...elevating the proceedings of the movie....and the subtle and sophisticated BGM in Lagaan...
Both are from different worlds and hence the conflict between their fans.

OISG,
Im a fan of IR, But not musically sound to answer all your questions, I can only tell you couple of things,
1. I hope you would agree with me, if somebody says all 815 movies of IR ran well and that was because of only BGM - then it is a 'rude' argument, which they repeat only because they love their fav. MD and there is no point in continuing with them ...
2. If somebody says IR was great with BGM and MSV didn't do a good job, then they don't understand the time difference .. its like telling Bradman was not good just because sachin has 33 One day centuries and Don has none ...
3. I understand your frustration with the 'so called' IR fans in this forum, But what IR has to do with that ? Why are you trying to insult him in almost all your posts ? I am sure you would have watched atleast one good movie with IR's BGM and would have felt he is good in it ... just because his fans are acting crazy, should you doubt his talent ?
4. Not getting an award DOESN'T mean he didn't do a good job, There are enough number of directors who have openly said in their interviews that IR's BGM has helped a lot for their movies, As somebody rightly pointed out, there is no award for BGM in most of the award cases and thats not IR's mistake ... Infact, we should appreciate the fact that he is doing a good job in BGM, eventho' he knows he is not going to get anything out of it - all he is interested in is making the movie more lively and I feel he is doing a good job in that ...
5. As far as I remember, Karthik Raja did BGM for 5 of the IR movies when IR went to London, In One movie - Kattumarakkakaran, Deva did the BGM because of some class bt. the producer and the MD, Except for these rare cases, IR himself has done the BGM for all his movies, He is one of the rare MDs who can compose BGM with excellent speed, maintaining the quality, I have heard that even when IR was doing 40+ movies per year, He was / is very particular with BGM and never let anyone touch that - he always believes that MD is as responsible for a movies' impact as its director.
May be I haven't answered any of your questions directly, but I felt very upset after reading this thread, After doing dedicated work for more than 25 years now, is this what IR deserves ? that pains me a lot :-(

Nags
I am certainly not the one to pass judgements that X is great in tunes,Y is great in BGM etc.But i feel the HCIRF are going a bit too far and it is their wishful thinking that by kncoking down some other MD IR gets an elevation.
On rerecording i am sure that Gangai Amaran and MSV have done for a lot of movies. On GA doing i have some friends in filmworld who confirm me this.Let s set them aside as you might need proof.Kumudam s interview with MSV -
Kumudam : Is it true that there is a "Thiruppu Munai" as we hear that you handle the rerecordings of IR?
MSV : Thideernnu vanthu "Vidinja Kalyanam" nnu sonnanga !Athan senjen!
Some IR fans too have mentioned this earlier in this forum.Midhavadhigal i suppose!
Also Kumudam lights on mentioned about this couple of times around 86-87.
I requested for validations from people/forums/organisations/Governments apart from the HCIRF of TFMforum to substantiate their claim that he is the greatest in BGM.The mention of Hollywood is only an example...any other recognition on these lines? I m afraid there are NONE.
VB Chandrasekhar kku chance kuduthiruntha avar Tendulakar i minji iruppar.Avar Goa voda aditha 150 mathiri ennoru innings unda?Ethanai murai avar TN i kaapathiirukkirar.Chance kidaikkale irunthalum VBC than ulgathileye greatest batsman endru solvathu evvalavu abathamo athai pola....
With his flying high in the 1988-1992 period IR could have managed international assigments.Atleast we would have something to talk about. The mystery surrounding the release of symphony and the "He approached IR declined" theories floated by his fans are terribly frustrating.
Nagas if his BGM has such "Elevating effects" to the movies do you mean to say that no one has recognised this apart from TFM forum fans?As someone mentioned OScar has nominations for the Original score ...the awards have gone to even foreign films(thought the films have not managed the main awards!).Why his movies never reached the places where there atleast a sembalance of competition.
Naamai name ematri koLLavendam.IR s BGM is the greatest endru solli atharkku TN/Andhra thandi yaarukkume theriyadha "Agni Naakshathiram" example koduthu...
All the directors whom IR had worked with have either moved or attempted to move to ARR.Does that indicate their ignorance of BGM factor? For eg Kamal Hassan goes to Mahesh for rerecording for his kurudi punal & aalavandan.
Good story,Good script.Good acting,Good songs,Good camera work, intelligent editing,Decent lyrics,Good dialogues -along with all this, a good BGM make good movie.Verum BGM mattum oru padathai thangum enbathu ....If someone who is successful in the cinefield say this i take back all my words.
