Can any HCIRF please enlighten this poor soul?



1.How many movies have run simply because of IRs rerecording?
2.Has he managed any recognition at the state,national,Asian,international levels for his BGM ?
3.Has he won any awards (say like Filmfare,Zee ,IIFA etc ) for his BGM?( i hear Adhesh Srivatsava won a Filmfare or Zee award for his BGM in "Border")
4.Who would you rate as the other good BGM scorers at the national ,international levels? (apart from the staple answer "Nobody")-[This is just to determine where he stands vis-a-vis "Them"]
5.Why is he not getting offers to score BGM for Hollywood movies when his credentials are extraordinary as per your judgement?

6.Are there any awards instituted by our govenments for BGM ...like the ones for special effects,editing?If they exist has he won anything?If it does not why don tyou guys make a representation to the government?(But if the Governement accepts your representation and gives the award to some other MDs .....)

7.Mention some scenes wherein without his BGM the scene would have fallen flat pulling down the whole movie.

8.Are there any movies by other MDs in which the BGM was ...say..Ok!?

  I guess Thiru is talking about how creepy music was. I think he means fear in literal sense. 'God Fearing' is being someone who believes the God watches all his actions. I do not think he tells that in that context. If you had watched the movie it would be fairly self-explanatory.

  who ever you are, Can you tryout some thing as a exercise?.
  
  Rent a movie like moondram pirai or aboorva sagodharargal. Rent some hindi film of same time of any MD. Watch each 2 times and take notes on music. I have almost dont this.
  
  Your doubts on this Myth will be clear.
  
  IRs BGM may not be liked by all, some may find it way too much at times. But its worthy. I think he is way too far from his peers and only in recent years some MDs are catching up.
  
  Still there have been good BGMs over times like deiva magan, etc. ARR has done good ones (except for some avoidable humming stuff and overdoings), shankar Elshan loy is good.

  All movies by KR,YSR and Bhavadharini(Mitr) had excellent BGM. In fact movies like Manickam, Aravindan,velai etc were merely released because of the BGM.
  Also movies like Rajasthan, kumbakonam gopal, ilaiyavan, kaadhal rojave, udanpirapugal, kannathal, thirunelveli, sami kodutha varam,annan,chinna durai,kummi pattu,ponnu veetukkaran, thodarum,time, katta panchayatu,poovarasan, unne ninchen patu padichen etc etc ran for 500 days just because of the BGM. Most of the theatres played the BGM alone and no picture was shown.

  Actually he got an offer from George Lucas, but he turned that down because it was not challenging enough. Also, Lucas had the cheek to suggest to IR that when the alien takes a piss, Lucas wanted silence and not a thousand violins playing in the background.
  
  He got another offer from Steven Spielberg, for which IR said that Spielberg only deserves John Williams and to only come back to him, if his movie was not a masala movie.
  
  Night Shyamalan wanted IR's music, but IR told him to come back only and only if someone else had rejected to do Night's movie.
  
  John Woo also approached IR and they had a discussion. IR welcomed him, blessed him and asked him and said he won't do the music for him ala Baba.

  Since you brought it up, I have to mention the deaths of a couple of Directors who died heartbroken because IR refused to score BGM for their movies.
  
  Stanley Kubrick wanted IR to score for Eyes wide shut, but IR said it was too vulgar movie and he had never done scores for such pornos, so he refused. It was no use for Kubrick to explain to IR that it was art and not porno, he refused blatantly. Y'all know what happened to poor kubrick.
  
  Satyajit ray approached IR, but IR was very busy with tamil movies, and he refused. Ray had a heart attack or something, all of us know what happened. May he rest in peace.

  Anyway, haven't we seen enough IR fans muddling and poking thier noses into threads which has specific appeal asking them not to enter?

  Your questions are idiotic in the first place.
  
  1) 815 movies have run because of IR rerecording
  2) First of there is no award for BGM in our place.. It is a concept not known to most of the guys just like you.
  
  3) same answer above. I recall Hey Ram won the award for BGM. But anywayz there is no award.
  It is not about award. It's about achievment. It is hard to win the fans. not the award.
  
  4) International BGM .... what a stupid question.. India is a country with diverse culture.. there are so many languages we speak.. so many dialects. Tamil is one among them.. What are the odds of his BGM alone getting projected internationally. In foreign movies they call it as original score. Nothing like BGM. Apart from Pandit Ravi Shankar no musician got any Oscar nomination. First tell me who watches Tamil movie? Tamilians and Srilankans. Unless the movie is extraordinarily good no music would become famous. So comparing with hollywood composers and IR is an insult to both. Let John williams score for Salangai Oli and IR scores for Artificial Intelligence. We will have a level playing ground.
  Can they score like IR scored in Sindhu Bhairavi.
  But IR can defenitely do what they do.
  
  5) This is the stupidest of all. Why is he not getting an acting part in Hollywood.. Do americans say John williams don't score in Indian films biggest film industry so he is not that good? Or Do you say Sivaji Ganesan is a bad actor because he is not acting hollywood movies? what a stupid logic this must be
  
  6) BGM is something coming under original music. Unfortunately In India music is judged by the songs. There are no defined rules. It is more or less arbitary. With so much of regionalism the government awards have no credibility. Sivaji never won the national award. That is a testimony to how badly our national awards are organized. Sivaji had so many representations. He was in politics too. Yet he was sidelined for unknown reasons
