Folks,
I had been to ARR's Live concert in Long Island, NY. Apart from 2 or 3 songs out of a total of around 25 to 30 songs all the Music was DEFINETLY played from tracks. ARR had hired musicians locally (ie., in the US) to make such a drama or what???.
Its totally a pity to see a established MD to trick and fool people with track music played in live shows. He should have tried to bring the real live music from his troop whether it comes out good or bad.
I saw most of the foreign musicians idle most of the time and the good part about it is that they did not pretend to play music as opposed to their Indian counterparts who were pretending all thro the show.
Any more obervations are welcome.

Kumar,
Out of tamil songs you have listed,
song no. 2,6,7,8 & 9 are completely sung.
Others are eye wash to the tamil audience.
Hope you like that.:-);
I know this is not a fault by AR Rahman. It is because of the organizer. However we are the one who got disappointed.

Sasikumar: I think the list (with some full thamizh and some part thamizh) is still skewed quite heavily in favor of thamizh considering that the show was not meant to be an "exclusively Tamil show". You definitely cannot make the extension that saree = tamil or chudidhaar kameez = not tamil. And jusging by the ticket prices ranging upto $150, namma makkaL avvaLavu dhaaraaLamaa wallet a thirakka maattaangaLey nnu sandhEgam varadhu:-)

rajaG,
Pls read my comments properly.
I have not used anywhere that chudidhaar kameez = not tamil. chudidhaar kameez now everyone wears, but sarees for ar rahman show, not surely by north indian. North Indians wear sarees during some important accasions and not just like that..Only south indians will wear frequently. Being AR as tamilian it could be tamilians more than any other south indians over there.
The show could have properly organized by alternative songs of tamil and hindi. Then it would have not been so paining. but playing hindi non stop from the 3rd song to till 11:30pm and finally few basibulla bath songs are not so good for the tamil audience.

One should NOT blame ARR!!
No! Never!!
One should blame 'God'. Since ARR directs all the glory to God, we should direct the blame to the one and the same God.
Please spare the organizers.

Kumar :
Good job on coming up with the list of Tamil and Hindi songs.
Correct me if I am wrong, Hariharan also sang a Hindi song -- something that started with "Chanda...". Also, Sukhwinder did a medley of a few of his songs (Hindi) when something went wrong and ARR had to leave the stage for about ten minutes.
There were many of ARR's great hits that could have been included, such as Bombay, especially since Chitra was one of the singers. Personally, I feel Chitra should have sung "Chinna Chinna AAsai" in Tamil, instead of having Sadana Sargam singing "Choti Choti Aasha" in Hindi, especially since ARR announced that the 'next song was his first song'. Technically, the Hindi version was not. I know I am nitpicking here.

From the list of songs provided by you as well as rajaG, it doesnt look skewed. Even the Dubai not-so-live concert did have a mixture of hindi and tamil songs. IMO, there was a fair distribution of hindi and tamil numbers. But I do agree that fans of TeFM might have got disappointed.

Well, the toronto show was sorta strange cuz mostly tamil people showed up but they had a lot of hindi songs lined up, maybe because ATN did the sponsoring. The tamil guys made a big fuss everytime tamil songs came on:-))

Ravi, I saw your comment that Chithra would have
sung the Tamil song "Chinna Chinna Aasai " from Roja."Chinna Chinna aasai" is a song sung by Minmini.Chithra has number of great and very popular songs to her own credit in various languages and I Personally feel there is no necessity for Chithra to sing a borrowed song of a contemporary artiste.

Chitra's most of the Kannada songs are Junk. Her memorable songs are very very less. And her recent song are unbearable and zero expression.(may be language problem, poor lady) We kannada people really missed Sushila and Janaki very much.God please save our kannada songs.

Mr.Kannaries,
Saw your comment on Chithra. Are you aware Chithra
is a singer who also has won a karnataka state award for the best female play back singer? This is only one of the numerous great awards she has won. Please try to remain unbiased while commenting
about singers who have proved their worth over years. While a person is always welcome to express his personal likes and dislikes, it is really not
expeceted of them to make a comment representing
the whole community(I mean,"we", "Kannada people" etc.) I have many of my friends from Karnataka who are ardent fans of Chithra.

Mr Kannaries are you from karnataka? I am also from B.lore.I also repeats the same. Her most of the kannada songs are really bad. I can't say she is a bad singer, but her voice is really boring.Yes she won a karnataka state award, but I don't believe this meaningless awards.I think Vanijayaram voice is much much better than chitra's.I really missed 60's to 80's kannada songs. It is really pretty.
I really express my personal likes.

Forgot to mention...
For songs to be good, the industry in itself should be good. I think that without doubt, most people know the pathetic position of Kannada industry. Of all four southern film industries, it is in the poorest state, and I am not talking solely about finance. Everything about the Kannada industry is boring....that is a fact. And if you want prove, buy some cine magz or kannada newspapers.
