One more question on cakewalk for the gurus. I sorted out my earlier problem. My version wasnt showing a specific view properly and that created the trouble. This time I have a trouble with mixing. I arm two tracks for vocals and two for MIDI data that are to be converted into .wav files. This MIDI data needs to be at a lower volume than the vocals. My version takes only two tracks of .wav data and so I need to mix all the four tracks into two tracks before I export them to the final .wav file. Now what happens it the two MIDI - .wav converted tracks which is set on a lower volume also increases its volume of the vocal track when I mix. Is there a way I can set these two tracks to the volume I need to retain even after mixing them with the vocal tracks ? I mean the vocal tracks must retain their original volume and the MIDI - .wav tracks should retain theirs as well even after mixing.

Thanks a lot to Aditya, Krishnamoorthy, and "Keys".
The kind of music I make depends on my mood :). I think Aditya can explain that since he had already heard some of my pieces. I take a long (long) time to release a track and I donot know what sort of category do I put my pieces in. Anywayz, I generally try to put out a shrewd mixing of carnatic and western trance/rock etc.
My work is 90% on computers, I sequence everything on computers till now, maybe I will be doing it for the next few years. I would probably start trying something on MIDI sequencing with FruityLoops or Impulse Tracker, and may go for some "manual" keying in if needed. The most important thing for me is the collection of instruments, and the way I can manage those using synthesisers - even though I donot know even the least about them till now. I do a lot of jugglery with a sound sample using my WAV editor and FruityLoops, that is the most I do when it comes to synthesis. I really need some good help on that, which I will come to later.
See Ya,

Guys
Have you heard of dj Cheb i Sabbah.
This guys work is just amazing and mindblowing.
Usually I am not into remix,dj kind of music.
But this guy is a pioneer and the way he has mixed indian music both carnatic and hindustani classical is amazing.
I recently brought his album Sri Durga man you guys should listen to that.
BTW he is not indian but a french algerian now lives in CA
Here listen to his interview at end of the interview they play one of his songs very interesting
http://www.airbubble.com/ram/cheb_i_sabbah.ram
and one more of his songs
http://www.sixdegreesrecords.com/travelseries/artists/chebi/kesekese.ram
Aditya esp you i know you are not at all into remix :)

Interesting...hmmm you have never gone wrong in developing taste for Music. I enjoyed the song...kesekese.ram
Since I didn't listen to the original...remix version itself sounded as some original piece of music. I am sure there are some objectives in remixing with a lot of innovation going in that kind of music.
Just trying to understand this popular genre of music, and no offense meant...
Can you guys tell me if they really record/perform the whole piece of music with the DJ's share of Component of music. Or is it just that they take the piece of music from several places and stitch them together. Or is it that they take the original recording and then add a layer of contribution from the DJ musician.
For eg., in kesekese.ram...it looks like some loops...then the banjo strings were playing sindhubhairavi piece to start with and then ghatam based rhythm loop and then alaap in darbari kaanada...like this it was going...Then the female voice comes saying pyaar keliye...
What do u think was remix and the original in the whole recording.
Leaving the analytical listening aside...I enjoyed this remix though...was it because I didn't know the original or else:-))
Regards,
Aditya

Aditya
Thanks for your response.
I am not into remix but this guys dj Cheb i Sabbah
is amazing man.
He actually went to india and records directly from artist Ustad Ali Khan or Joshi or our carnatic artist sometime he ask them to sing a pariticular raga or keerthan
and later mixes them very artisticly
there by the original emotion is not lost.
I have one song of his where he uses Raag Jog so beutifully you would surprised to believe its a remix becoz its still retains that emotional power or beauty of the singer and raga in it unlike others DJs.
Here is the song i found at his mp3 site
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/23/dj_cheb_i_sabbah.html
The 'Ganga dev' is set to sindhubharivi also sounds like ahirbhairav listen to it and you will never feel like listening to remix but a original one/
And in his interview he said he recently done a project exculsively on Carnatic music with leading artist, cant wait to hear that one
I can mail you if you give me ur email id
btw did you listen to his interview

Guys..
I was listenning to Cheb i Sabbah. He is good!!
I didnt like Kese Kese...I thought it was just an ordinary hindi song remixed. But what I really loved is a track called "Yoga of Sound" from Shri Durga. Its amazing. Has any of you listened to that one yet? There are no beats in the song..just a collection of all sorts of sounds from India. Very spiritual.

There is one discrepancy I found is with flute more than anythingelse lots of time it goes flat or struggles with rthym ofcourse its easy for me say,but performing live is not that easy :)
