6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Mani could have easily made 4 movies from this one script and went laughing to the bank all the way.

BGM by Praveen Mani???? I felt something wierd about the crappy BGM. I never knew it was by him. I really pity Mani had to live with such sub-standard BGM, after receiving Mouna Ragam to Thalapthi styled ones.

Another big flaw in the movie is college students competing in the election. As far as I know the qualification to compete in any election you have to be atleast 25 and above. But Maniratnam shows Surya and Sidharth who would be 23 max competing in election.
http://www.indian-elections.com/electoralsystem/schedulingtheelections.html#17
17. Who can stand for Election.
Any Indian citizen who is registered as a voter and is over 25 years of age is allowed to contest elections to the Lok Sabha or State Legislative Assemblies. For the Rajya Sabha the age limit is 30 years. Candidates for the Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Sabha should be a resident of the same state as the constituency from which they wish to contest.
Every candidate has to make a deposit of Rs. 10,000/- for Lok Sabha election and 5,000/- for Rajya Sabha or Vidhan Sabha elections, except for candidates from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes who pay half of these amounts. The deposit is returned if the candidate receives more than one-sixth of the total number of valid votes polled in the constituency. Nominations must be supported at least by one registered elector of the constituency, in the case of a candidate sponsored by a registered Party and by ten registered electors from the constituency in the case of other candidates. Returning Officers, appointed by the Election Commission, are put in charge to receive nominations of candidates in each constituency, and oversee the formalities of the election.
In a number of seats in the Lok Sabha and the Vidhan Sabha, the candidates can only be from either one of the scheduled castes or scheduled tribes. The number of these reserved seats is meant to be approximately in proportion to the number of people from scheduled castes or scheduled tribes in each state. There are currently 79 seats reserved for the scheduled castes and 41 reserved for the scheduled tribes in the Lok Sabha.

"Amores perros" - Love's a bitch
Yes, i saw the movie - more than once. I would be really happy if AE is any where close to Amores Perros.

if it's close u will be shouting and saying that MR copied the movie...won't u!..

AE also promotes women harrassment and casual living of man and a woman. I remember in Virumandhi forum people bitched about women harrassment but now they are all quite. Another BIG flaw.

AE doesn't promote being mean to women. Just because it is there in the film does not mean it is condoning it.

according to Aswathama's theory then
Rajini movies promote bashing ppl for silly things.
Political movies promote politicians to be corrupt.
Roja,Bombay,Kannathil muthamittal and abunch of arjun movies promote terrorism and the list goes on.
after reading these statements you can realise how absurd ur acct on harrassment of women is.

So stupid postings and blind criticisms have filled this thread following the golden tradition of this forum...great..good going...
The post by Wondering is the silliest one to say the least...
I can agree with SK ...
BTW even Mani himself has never declared that the movie is his own and all that bluffs, even in the interview b4 the movie's premiere,Ratnam said that his movie will be very close to 'Rashomon' than 'Amores perros',whatever be it...,Ratnam acknowledges that its a inspirational venture(well,in other words ppl like calling it as lifting)...this is much decent than Kamal's case in 'Virumaandi' where the man cleverly followed the technique from Kurosawa's Rashomon but maintained it as though he did it all.He almost copied the whole of 'Mrs.Doubtfire' but sarcasted in the interviews whenever posed with this Q,as "What? Mrs.Doubtfire? oh,that may be Doubtfire..but mine is a surefire"....
Even 'Anbe sivam''s narrative structure was so similar to 'Planes,trains,Automobiles'...but surely can't call it as lifting...if ppl are comfortable with it..it can be so in the case of AE too...
And somebody saying that the visuals of song 'Sundari' from Dalapathy is lifted..yeah i remember Mani saying it as his tribute to the Japanese Maestro....but for lifts i can add the visuals of the song..'Vegam vegam' from Anjali..kids flying in cycles...lifted from Steven's fiction classic ET...but ppl will want to call the whole movie as a lift jus b'cos the characters of the two kids are similar...but i have seen both movies, and have never felt that Mani lifted something substantial from ET...

Actually patni,
I've read more reviews going gaga over it than reviews that say it's hopeless. And all the reviews that said it's hopeless have been from Websites that have almost competed against eah other to put up a review before the others about Yuva.
And I'm too huge a MR fan to even think of not seeing the movie! Please tell me u were kidding.
ps: Check out the review of AE/Yuva in today's Madras Plus, Economic Times.
