Ahhhhhhhh! Everytime I write this my proxy server goes down before I can post it! This time Im going
to save it in something and then post! God this is the 3rd time Im writing this!
Murali Sankar :
Have you seen the Hindi movie Ek aur prem kahaani? Its a Balu Mahendra movie starring Ramesh Aravind and Heera in which IR has put some of his old masterpieces and they sound as good in Hindi as they did in Tamil. Two of them are poththi vechcha malliga mottu and kaatril endhan geedham etc.. He probably wanted to put them into Hindi on his own before someone else did it!!

Oops! Before better IR fans pounce on me, I would like to clarify that when I said that they sound as good in Hindi as in Tamil, I meant lyrics wise!

I don't whether it's a copy or not.
Vidhya Sagar repeated the song 'Malarey Mounama' in 'Nilaave Vaa.' The song is 'Nee Kaatru Naan..'

I meant, 'I don't know', not 'I don't'

bull,
I thought that "Katril enthan geetham" was the only song that sounded just as good in hindi as it was tamil (I mean the singing & orchestration. I don't know about the lyrics). The other two songs, Kadhal Oviyam & Pothi vacha malligai mottu were far better in tamil than in hindi. Did you listen to the instrumental reproductions of the above songs from the same cassette? That was absolutely incredible!

Thank you bull for informing me about the Hindi film. I heard that "Dhak Dhak Karnay Laga" of hindi by Anand - Milind is a straight lift from a chiranjivi - sridevi starrer in telugu. I have heard the song but do not remember the lyrics. It is originally IR's composition. But the song sounds different in hindi because of the improper reproduction of the orchestration. Probably the Anand - Milind jodi didnot have enough talent even to DECOMPOSE (I mean fragment) it. You see, IR is not an easy musician to be copied even!!

Guys,
In Akshay Kumar's latest movie "Barood" we find the rare instance where Anad-Milind have copied 1 Tamil and 1 Telugu tune.
1.Kanniponnuda(Hello Brother) - Ik Ladki Ik Ladka
2.Adi Paru Mangatha(May Madham) - Deewana Deewana or some thing.

Nirupama : I didnt have the opportunity of listening to the songs in Hindi too many times 'cos I saw the movie once and didnt have a cassette to hear the songs or anything. I suppose I concentrated too much on seeing whether the lyrics didnt sound stuffed into the tune, which they didnt! katril endhan gIdham ... repeats in the hindi movie as naina bOlE naina... so that one struck me as the most well reproduced too!
Murali Sankar : Yeah dhak dhak was a lift from IR's abbanI thIyanI in jagadEka vIrudu atilOka sundari which I think was dubbed in Tamil as kaadhal dhEvadhai. In fact you need not worry about Anand-Milind (or was it Jatin-Lalit?) not having done a good job 'cos if you listen to the telugu song and then to the hindi song, you will find that it is not merely a copy, it is a karoke! They just took every not from the original tune verbatim. The more I listen to it, the more it seems to me that they must have done a karoke!
This was of course apart from the koNda sEval kUvum nEram song of, I think Sankar-Ganesh copied as kOyal si tEri bOli
Coimbatore Maaplai : Yes thats such a straight lift, isnt it? Did anyone hear the song Hello hello bOlkE, tErE aaju baaju dOlkE?
Its a really strange thing that some hindi MD copied from our Deva's akilaa akilaa which itself is such a lift from Marley's Buffalo Soldier!

In 'neRukku nEr' there's one Bob Marley song "Get up stand up for your right". Bull pl. confirm. I heard it in passing while in somebody's car.

Thanks to social worker for removing the bold!
Kiruba : Which 'nErukku nEr' song are you talking about? We all know that 'akilaa akilaa' is a copy of 'bufallo soldier'. I had feeling that I had heared the 'enggenggu enggenggu' song but I couldnt put my finger on it. It is a really lovely song, though. (Im sure 'manam virumbudhE' cant be a Marley song! :-))
I participated in a hindi music quiz on saturday and there was a question to me where they played a song from 'Virasat' and asked me who the MD was! I was tempted to say IR, but then for getting points I had to say Anu Malik! The song was the 'injchi iduppazagi' hindi version!

Kiruba & bull - Deva is great. He has incorporated two Bob Marley songs, i.e. Buffalo Soldier and Get up Stand up in one movie!
Try singing Get up stand up, get up for your rights to Da-dum, da-dum, da-dum dum da-dum, which precedes Aval varuvaalaa...? :-)))))

A friend of mine says that when ARR is interviewed he always has his Keyboard with him, when MSV is interviewed, he has a harmonium, when IR is interviewed there is an orchestra in the background, and when Deva is interviewed there is a shelf full of cassettes in the BG!!
I wont be surprised if the next Deva song sounds like November Rain!!!

Dear Bull,
Deva is the best encyclopedia available on TFM,HFM,English Music, becos he knows what to copy for what situations. We should call him and make him see newtfmpage and check if all the song details which have been written in different discussions are right for he is bittu gnanam personified.See the film called Natpukkaga and you will find Suprabatham,IR's Pongalum Pongalum(Mahanadhi). In Priyamudan ,he got "inspired" by Titanic,Gupt, what not.If everybody from whom he has copied sues him,he will have to give an Insolvency Petition.

i guess we have to give deva his due. he has been working
at a speed far superior than others. so where does he
go for inspiration?? he probably has a deal with a
cassette dealer, who sells him cassettes wholesale!!
muthax: about aasai, the song "kozhi vandhadha"
was lifted from a mithun chakravarthi song "kuttur
kuttur". it became "kokkarakkoko kokkarakkokko".
so deva has a wide taste and copies even flop
songs from hindi.
have u heard of his copied song from "yeh pappiyan
chappiyan " starring ajay devgan and tabu? if i
remember, it stars ramki .
