...titled "Thendral" starring Karthik, produced by Oscar Films V.Ravichandran. Is it Ilayaraja or Vidyasagar? Please let me know. Also, provide a link, if you guys can, where it confirms that Ilayaraja or Vidyasagar is doing the music for Thangar's next film.

Hey Ambleen u call hindi music a junk, it may be now, but u have any idea of who is S.D.Burman,R.D.Burman? well the difference is that they accept westernisation of indian sounds, so dunt call hindi music junk... ARR's acheivement in hindi is a worthy one... that's y i tell u guys.. have a look outside TN and u'll find how much respect ARR is getting..... btw who told ARR is not accpeted in TN... NO IR ALBUM HAS SOLD MORE THAN ARR"S KADHALAN... it is a proof of his acceptance....

"
Then why IR was otu of market for 10 years?...what were u guys doing then?...

aren't many in film scoring circle still listening to golden age composers to silver age composers(max steiner to elmer bernstein)?
aren't many of us still listening to MSV, KVM, Beatles, Bee Gees, etc.?

That's too good Paran.... it is the best reply i have seen in newtfmpage.. hats off.... AMBLEEN i love fresh ideas and fresh sounds... I'm a firm believer that "SOUND IS THE SOUL OF MUSIC"... though ARR's kadhalan was fresh in 1994 it is no more a fresh sound now.. so naturally i wunt listen to it... BOYZ is super fresh isn't it? come on yaar u cant argue that i wunt use P-4 comps cos i love P-2 comps still....

that is enuf from u. i am satisfied.(if i explain anything more ur brain mite over congest and explode)
MADDY,
My point here is so wat abt the sales. Ppl too buy many Deva albums but at the same time know he's crap. The point being do they 'accept' him. Do they still listen to those albums they bought previously? Or after a few listen they toss around the house. Whereas ppl in tamil nadu and elsewhere in the world are still listening to IR's Kali, Annakilli, M. Mariathai to Hey Ram etc. et. etc.
Music appreciators(layman listener's to critics to musicologist) still listen to many classical music and many pop/rock songs. They are quality. Evergreen. They still linger around because of its quality and penetration into the heart.
EXACT SAME ANALOGY with IR, MSV, KVM.

Hi All,
I like ARR's music and IR's too. I feel IR's music is fresh for long time. Even if you hear some of the old songs and BGMs there is some thing new in it, which was not discovered the last time you heard it. Whereas most of ARR's songs are just good for that period. Someone mentioned BOYZ here, I am not sure even ARR will like it. I havent seen alot of crap albums from ARR as he is producing for the last 3 or 4 years. To me, his last decent album was Kannathil Muthamittal. I think Maddy has to grow up and think rationally what is really good and bad album. Anything from ARR is not always good .. same is the case with IR. I dont think both Kadhalan and BOYZ were fresh and trend setting. Kadhalan was good, but certainly not in the top 10 best albums of ARR (in terms of creativity, not just beats and loops that are commercially available). I think there is a fine line in fusing western and Indian music. ARR is crossing it alot these days and confusing himself and others .. and losing originality and creativity. This is very much evident in BOYZ.

Dear Maddy,
For your kind clarification....u might have a prostitute who is frequented more than a temple in a town. That does not mean that that Pros is much better than the temple. The temple has its own divinity.
All IMHO

u call ARR's music prostitution... man, that is too much for that poor fellow... u know, ARR can earn millions if he moves his base to london... but he still wants to stay in "Kodambakkam" and churn out music to u Tamils.... poor guy... atleast appreciate his loyalty dudes...

Hey V , dunt think only Carnatic music, folk music, typical lite music can be considered gud albums... u have to accept different sounds and fusion of diff. types of music ... then according to you BRYAN ADAMS never made a decent album cos he used loops and softwares always...a gud album according to me, is the one which makes u listen to it again and again... a sensational album is the one which lingers in ur brain all the time.. (even wen ur kissing ur girlfriend)... BOYZ is a gud album, while "Dil se" is an sensational album... one of IR's sensational album according to me was "Agni natchithram"...

I am the YSR fan V. My ip does not start with 160
These stupid moronic IR fans spoilt the Boys thread and now they are spoiling this thread too!
I hope they leave our YSR thread alone! May be not ! let me check how much they have attacked it now.

maddy u got a low memory jus a few days back i expalained to u why kaadhalan had a sensational sales if u forgot that one - here i copied it frm the other thread and posting it again.
1.i agree that kadhalan had a record sales.
after arithmetics i hav to teach some history too.
sales of audio records were not a big industry till the 90s. 90s saw a boom in every industry cos of globalization. but even before that one audio company named ECHO survived only bcos of IR.when they had a misunderstanding with IR they had to get out of business. this shows how powerful IR is.moreover i was talking abt the 90% of the population who likies IRs music. our countrys economy shows that 50% of the population cant even afford one square meal a day.the other 40% cant afford to buy a record [ i doubt how many people do hav a player to play these records.they survive on radio only]
our world was suddenly divided into 2 worlds after 90s where some people started to get many things in life which were not affordable to common man.not only audio industry think abt other industries too
how many cars were they selling b4 90s?
how many branded jeans were sold b4 90s?
how many restaurants were there b4 90s?
it was a cultural shift in the whole of our country.
coming to my personal experience after a long 7 years when i went to my native village in deep south i cant hear even a single ARR track.during the thiruvizha they weree playing music frm films like rasu padayachi and nattupura pattu etc.,
i think this is the strength of IR - he was able to giv music for the people as a whole. the majority of our people identify themselves and their culture with IRs music. they know within their deep hearts that this is their music.IR not only satisfies the need for music of villagers but he can giv music for educated or upper class people too[ i know ull agree to this so no examples].

more for people who are keen on keeping their history updated: a followup on "Then why IR was otu of market for 10 years?...what were u guys doing then?..."
the way people are arguing even today on whether IR is good or ARR is good indicates clearly that IR was not out of the market for the past ten years.it was the hype, glamour and glitz given to ARR by the media that it overshadowed IRs achievements.
lets look at some history too: IR entered the tfm industry in 1976 till then it was MSV who was ruling - well all staunch MSV fans wud ve fought with IR fans in those days like we r fighting over IR and ARR today. it took a little time for IR to claim the top spot. with his kavikuyil realesed in 1977 IR came to be the superstar of tfm.MSV was forced to retire by the beggining of 80s.it took 4 yrs for IR to become unopposed supremo of the industry. till 1992 IR was the king.aug 15 1992 saw ARR entering into the field as it happened b4 we IR fans became skeptical abt his entry. we said he is a one film wonder. his nxt album puthiya mugam flopped.then came gentleman. we were surprised a bit as IRS supremacy was shaken. even then we termed him to be composer for the cities and he cant beat IR. then came keezhaku cheemayile where he proved he can do folk nos. too[ the album ulavan flopped b4 this].only after KC ARR was accepted widely in tfm.but still IR was giving good music and hit albums. after 1992 ARRs entry- IR composed for ejamaan, veera, devar magan, walter vetrivel, ponnumani, and many more films which were a super hit too. till 1997 IR was giving a head on fight to ARR. so till 1997 ARR was not able to claim the top spot.[ well he claimed it in hindi long back - but iam talking abt tfm.].in 1997 IR gave his super hit album kaadhalukku mariyaadai which succeeded over many of ARRs record sales[not kaadhaln i accept]. after KM - IR didnt giv super hit album for a long time.during this period ARR became the supremo for a brief period of 3 yrs till alaipayuthey realesed in 2000.after that there is no one to claim that spot cos ARR all albums flopped after 2000. atleast IR had some average hit movies like kaasi, azhagi, sethu etc.,but it is VS, YSR and HJ who r giving super hits nowadays.
TO SUM UP IR WAS NEVER OUT OF THE MARKET AND NOBODY CAN FORCE HIM OUT.
WAIT TILL SANDIYAR......
