Which Combi Is Better: SPB & IR or SPB & ARR

There have been many hits by both combinations.
In a way it is hard to compare bcos SPB sort of grew up wit IR and is more like maturing wit ARR.
But i'd like to hear some opinions and a list of personal favs from each combi.

  HEY GUYS
  ARR is a man with tremendous foresight, he bought Hariharan, shankar-mahadevan and karthik and the list goes on...... he needs uniqueness and change in voice, so he used SPB sparingly, but tell me a better slow song than "ENN KADHALE" (DUET) for the past 10 years..

  how can u forget that it was ARR who gave SPB a National award in Minsara Kanavu. so it is
  SPB+IR = Gud songs
  SPB+ARR = awards

  Nope i dunt think so... SPB-IR havent achieved any National award yet, Stats Pundits correct me if i'm wrong. did anyone know that ARR has won National awards more times than any other MD from India.

  'velli nilave' from Nandavanatheru and
  'chinna kanmanikulle' from Paatupaadava are equally good ,slow melodious numbers from IR-SPB around the same period.
  combo around the same time.
  Tell me some good experimental numbers like 'Vandaal mahalakshmiye'- Uyarndaullam
  'Andarangam yaavume'- Aayiram nilave vaa
  'Vedam anuvilum oru naadham' - salangaioli
  'maaman oru naal malliyapoo' from rosappoo ravikkaikari

  SPB won more national awards for IR songs than ARR. Telugu version of 'Salanghai Oli' won SPB a national award, SPB won a national award for one more IR song, can not remember it.
  
  besides, it is SPB who won the national award not IR or ARR, so y the bashing :))

  1981 Ek Duje Keliye (Hindi)

  1988 Rudra Veena (Telugu)
  1995 Gaana Yogi Panchashari Gavai (Kannada)

  I agree with Jag. SPB is a class irrespective of the MD or language. All songs SPB sang for ARR are big hits but not many of them were classy. I am sure SPB's favourite song would certainly be one of Ilayaraja's songs only. SPB has been challenged and experimented by IR so many times. SPB's songs for ARR have been reasonably easy to sing (with added technical advantages) and nothing of the class like IR's salangai oli, payanangal mudivadhillai, keladi kanmani and so on.
  
  More over SPB has sung thousands of variety of songs for IR in different languages and that cannot be compared with the number of songs or variety he did with ARR. So this combination thing makes no sense bcos if you talk about one good song of ARR+SPB combo, I can give at least 10 or more IR+SPB combo that is better in comparison.

  Tell me a better song than ENN KADHALE(DUET) and i'll quit this thread. hey i'm an ARR fan so i have a balanced look at things(not like IR fans) so u bring me a better song of IR-SPB combo i'll really quit this thread......

  Just one song? Mr Maddy, en kadhale is a nice song and nobody is going deny it. I dont have to be an ARR fan to like his songs.

  jodi nadhigal paadhai vilagi ponadhu - anbe odiva

  ponn maalai pozhudhu - nizhalgal.
  keladi kanmani - pudhu pudhu arthangal
  oh paapa laali - geethanjali (telugu)
  
  I can add more to the list but for now this is good enough for you, I think. The thing is that if you ask another IR fan, he/she would bring entirely a different list of goodies. See, there are so many songs for IR+SPB combo and it's hard to pick just the best out of it.

  There is too many songs from IR-SPB combo that can beat the "Enn Kadhalea" song from Duet.
  The song I will mention here is the song "Enna Saththam intha neram" from the movie Punnagai Mannan. All time hit from that blessed combo.

  Why did my son ditch SPB for more than 3 years now. Answer than you IR fans. My don't is a selfish rat..He grew with spb..If SPB had not been there with such a voice many of his so called compositions could have gone into oblivian..Namdri ketta naayi en magan.I would appriciate my son Gangai Amaran in this regard.He did not DITCH spb AS HIS BROTHER HAS..

  well said. I think maddy is a kid or a teenager, from his postings. SPB + IR combo had more variety and depth than of ARR.
  
  X, the songs u have mentioned in your list are awesome, I could even die for them, there are thousands of songs like this.
  
  recent SPB + IR combo were, 'Kaakai Sirahinile','Friends', 'Dharma'. Kaakai sirahinile had very nice songs, I don't know whether they were hits, Dharma also fall in the same category, esp the song 'Iru Kanghazh pothathu raasathi oorkolathai paarka', SPB is a class of it's own, no matter who the MD is!

  you son did not did not ditch SPB. You can only blame it on this trend. The heros and producers prefer singers with bad tamizh accent and singers who can sing with their tip of the tongue. It's the producers, directors and heros who ditched SPB and certainly not IR. When IR was ruling he never had to listen to those producers as far as the choice of the singers concerned but now he has to. That's the bad state of TFM. IR and SPB are always friends and have mutual respect. I know that for fact

  hi raghu this is MADDY and i know i'm a teenager who grew listening to KADHALAN and ROJA but wat i'm trying to tell u is that ARR-SPB is not such a bad combo after all and it was all quality... i mean they wud have made 10 songs out of which 9 wud have been good songs.. IR-SPB combo is too good but ARR-SPB combo is heights of quality...

  Yours is a lame answer. when he composes some stereotype and unconvincing music for films like solla marandha kadhai, he can aswell use SPB for songs which according to you are out of tread. My son has lot of ego problem and that is the reason. Now my child SPB has called him to sing in his composition. He has this nandrikadan. Lets see whether my son gets buthi.

  Hi, I am not much older than u, hehe, but no one denied ARR + SPB combo was excellent, but SPB +IR combo has always been outstanding, no matter what, ARR maintained many times, that SPB is a genius and he would only give him the best tune, but tactically ARR used SPB in his early days like Roja, Gentleman, Ashokan, Kadhalan, etc to establish him self, after he has put a strong foot in the industry, he imported funny singers from north, not mention any names, most of his middle 90's and late 90's songs, he used hariharan more, did not work out well for him, from late 90's to early 2000 he came to SPB.
  
  So basically, no matter how hard any one tries to bring other singers, no body can replace or will replace SPB.
  
  SPB is class of it's own!!!

  IR's appa,
  if IR has ego problems, he would't sing under SPB. IR has used SPB for almost 20 years in tamil, telugu and kannada and suddenly he gets ego problem??! As far as I know, the only true friends in the TFM industry are SPB and IR. They are like 'vada-poda' type friends..
  IR does have ego prolems but certainly not with IR.
  Btw, IR's father would be the single most proud parent in India (if he is still alive) for having IR as his son. You are not him. Are you?

  Hey thread, tell me with whom IR din't have a ego-clash in the industry... and with whom SPB din't have a good relation with... answer is nobody.. that is SPB... humility is the most striking character of this gentleman...
  ARR needs uniqueness in voice that's y he imported North and Pop singers, he never ditched SPB.. he saves his best songs for SPB...
