I have checked the archives and for some reason a topic with a similar heading is gone!
So here's is some food for thought.
1. Actors like Ajith, Vijay, etc commanding MDs to copy from "English CDs" and set them to Indian lyrics.
2. MDs like Deva, Sirpi copying left, right and center, in situations excluding item 1 above.
3. Bad pronunciation of singers.
4. MDs like SAR repeating the same tune over and over and over......you get the point (and many times in the same film)
5. ARR not putting any effort in re-recording at all- merely playing the songs in the movie with slower/faster versions.
6. ARR, Srikanth (Deva's son), etc blatantly indulging in lip-synch activities. Other lesser known artists, engaged in karaoke singing. While this does not directly affect TFM it speaks for the lack of confidence in the talents of the artists.
7. Many occurences of really stupid lyrics - though most of them may be blamed on the director/producers adamant insistence or same boring situations.
8. Absence of thespians who could inspire Kannadasan, TMS, SPB, PS etc to give their best.

Must elaborate, some confusion in the way you've comprehended my post. In the general atmosphere of this forum these days, sometimes an extra word can spark a conflagration, hence the brevity that sometimes turns misrepresentative. Note, I didn't mention "Manmatha Maasam" for its lyrical quality, just the innovation in music arrangement (left unsaid). Stood apart from earlier songs that had the 'one word/phrase' structure.
I was actually quoting the case of "Azhage Sugama" from the point of view of studying ARR's unique style for these kind of songs; as a song, it's set to nothing more than ARR's "soft love melody" template that calls for HH or UK singing in low pitch drawl. You will notice that I have qualified it with a 'never mind the innate quality of lyrics'. It's just that it occurred to me that this was a song that he could get could anyone to write lyrics to, and it has an almost 'sanitised' appeal for being a clean song. A sort of style sheet-driven product if you know what i mean. Juxtaposed against IR's penchant for filling up his template duets with "maane-thEne, mayil-kuyil" and other such grAmiya flora & fauna, ARR's is a more contemporary approach in that the wider diaspora he's targeting can relate to it more easily. A digression this, not sure if there's any merit in this string of lazy thoughts..
I thought Sirpi's "Enge enthan veNNila" from VV and "Theem theem" from Vidyasagar's ATV were OK.
IR - liked quite a few new ones, sonna sandaikku vanthuduveenga! Pleasantly surprised to hear Pazhanibharathi's lines "ReNdu ithazh mattum koNdirukkum unthan muthagathil acchAnEn" (Ivann - appadi paarkaruthenna - another delightful duet minus Mathangi's voice), a rare original thought process from his generally tedious fare..

suresh,
Thanks for the clarifying your post. I didn't get all this from your previous post, glad you elaborated.
IR - liked quite a few new ones, sonna sandaikku vandhuduveenga!
Why would I? If you like it, good for you. As long as you don't call me names for disagreeing with your taste, our differences rest happily. I listened to Ivan songs and Azhagi songs of the recent IR stuff since they were touted. In fact I went in wanting to like it, but couldn't find anything that appealed to me. I sense boredom in IR's compositions recently. I don't think he cares any more. I don't think ARR cares any more either (Baba???). I had said earlier that TIME was the last complete album of IR that I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked one song from Hey Ram too. Regardless of the artists' talent, if they just crank out stuff from their templates I hold them in contempt. If you can't show enthusiasm for your work, just quit with honor.

I enjoyed reading your posts till you declared songs like "Oliyile Therivathu Devadhya" and "Appdi pakkarathunna Venam" etc. songs failed to appeal you. Come on man!

Fliflo,
So you only enjoy posts by those who agree with you? Come on, man. "Oliyilae Therivathu" run of the mill IR song to me, can we respectfully disagree? Appadi Paakkarathu sounded like vasana kavithai without the kavidhai and the female singer should be sent on a time travel to Afghanistan under Taliban (they used to stone females who sang there).

"pattu solli" from azhagi is da best tfm song this decade so far. i don't understand y u peepil have to be so biased against Sadhana. she may be northie but she is da BEST singer right now in TFM. dat is undeniable fact.

I felt 'oliyile therivadhu' was the best IR song last year after 'nee paartha paarvaikkoru' from hey ram. I didnt feel 'appadi paakuradhenna' was that great a song.. The other thing is some fans (IR as well as ARR) are quick to raise their eyebrows when a particular song is not liked by others whereas the same is not the case with other MDs...like who cares if you think 'azhagana suriyane' is not good.

Thiru,
In five years, there maybe two camps still fighting the same fights over YSR and VS. Once those MDs have a considerable number of songs they too will have a following (not that fanatic following is necessary, Deva seems to have done fine without it).

I meant it in a more friendly and respectful manner. You have right to preserve and disclose your likes and dislikes, of course. When you took pain in bringing out so many golden songs (in ur opinion) of some ignored MDs, I thought you wud not let yourself in the illness referred as "prejudice" like many of them are suffering with (including me). As thiru mentioned, I raised my eyebrows for a second and when you said that. I only happened to see so many articles praising azhagi bgm and songs and not even one going against or saying that is an ordinary, regular stuff. Nevertheless, I deeply agree with the concept that every thing in the world has Pros and Cons and definition for prefection is a matter of perception. So please go ahead sir..

About Today's Cricket Match - INDIA vs England
Sachin : There are many fans of him who felt he did a GREAT innings.... there are some fans of him who thought, well, he should have done MORE than this - he is capable of that - so i don't like this innings.....
Dravid : There are many fans of him who felt, wow, thanks to him - he stayed for long..... he took LONG enough to settle and did good with his bat..... but many CRICKET fans in general felt - he took SUCH A LONG TIME TO SETTLE, if that is the case, then he should have made more runs.....
whatever it is, still SACHIN's 50's make many cricket fans go crazy - like me and FLIFLO :-)
Udhaya, have u seen Azhagi movie ?

sabesan,
anubavinga saami who am I to argue with your satisfaction? I just wish it satisfied me too, I will end up with more satisfaction. I do get a regular diet of IR's first 200 movies, especially the first 100. So, it's not like I don't listen to any IR song. That collection of IR songs is as good a collection as any other MD's in history. I just don't care for his new stuff since there are better alternatives now.

I would agree on Azhagi and Ivan, but I think 'Kaadhal Saathi' and 'Solla maRantha kathai' were fairly good albums. And "enna solli pAduvatho' from En Mana Vaanil is a delightful melody inspite of Sadhana, the electronics and the ordinary charanams (wondering what else is left in the song to appreciate?)..

See the effect I'm having on you, you infant. You just managed two full (albeit short) posts in English. And let me assure you that I'm a man and look much different than Shakeela or your mother before your confused brain assumes more and has you and your cousins dirtying sheets.

Sam,
You don't get it, do you? Your LOL's are quite appropriate though. Just like the proverbial canine looking for a lamppost to pee, you look for the slightest hint of 1) a discussion that's beyond your comprehension or 2) any opportunity to make an a*ss of yourself (now that's efficient multi-tasking, moving from the D to the D seamlessly).
Not that anyone expects such things as common sense from you, but, hey, you got Udhaya's gender mixed up pal. Suggest you take time off from watching late night shakeela films and get your thoughts organised on how to put your life back
