Who gave more hit songs in First Ten Years - IR or ARR?

  Digression:
  
  Just in case some did'nt realise..., if one calculates the average time taken to compose music for a film by IR it comes to apprx. 12 days. This includes the songs and the BGM and all other work that goes into COMPLETING HIS PART.
  
  Don't you think it would be impossible for anybody else to work like this!!?? Namba padarthu yellam oru paada!!! Paadu padarthunna IRthu. Besides this, he has been able to spend enough time with his family and perform his duties, compose non-filmi albums, carry on his religious pursuits, attend various public gatherings...etc., and also talk crazy (as some may call it) at times, put up with all the criticisms, overcome depressing moments, gain courage and become more determined to survive and succeed...and lastly of course (if at all it matters:-)), do whatever little R&D he could do in music, and yet safeguard the nativity...

  good point! I hate to think what we have missed from IR. if he decided to do some load balancing and took 30 days/movie and spent 6 days/ movie on R&D.

  imho, i am a fan of IR. that is the first point. second, imho, i am not a fan of arr, don't foresee that happenin remainder of my life... unless arr can compose like ir, not like waht deva did, and have deva stop composing like himself(arr).
  
  but, here is the humble truth from me: arr gave more hits that ir did: (i felt like i was hit with a wet fish several times each time arr's songs came to town.)

  IR & HCIRF r depressed when they hear ARR songs because . they know ARR's songs r better and they also know there is no chance to compete with ARR. They r depressed on being loosers in TFM
  
  ARR when he listens to IR songs knows its junk nowadays and so he is happy that it will not offer his songs any decent competition . moreover he is amused how a (reasonably)good composer can now degrade himself so much.

  Once again I am in argument with U.
  an HCIRF is least bothered about ARR songs.
  IR might be laughing at ARR music and feeling
  pity about people who changed a lot.
  
  I dont feel IR is giving Junk now a days.
  He always analyses the situations and composes
  the music.
  If the situations r not good for films to give
  scope for good songs what any one can do.
  
  For Ur kind info I am leeeeeeeaaaaaaast
  bothered about ARR any new album.
  
  I know to my knowledge how much creativity
  ARR padmasree has. He is Ok better than
  others but can never be the best.
  
  It is only the politics which kept IR in this
  position now.
  
  He is a bit different man and I expected this

  rehman took a sabaticalfor a year after mudhalvan to work for andrew llyod webber and some other people. whci is why there were no albums for some time. the usual 4-5 will start coming out soon.

  Yes, we got Star, Lagaan. I believe when I hear. Only changed scenio compared to pre-Mudhalvan is we have YSR/KR/HJ/Bharani doing his job. He has stiff competion. Added to that is the sort of treatment ARR getting these days from TFM like what was IR subjected to. I am waiting for his return too.

  ok ok this is not a ARR bashing site you guys. In all effect i like them bothe, but as far as initiative goes the prize goes to IR. He made tamil ppl like to hear tami songs, before that we were all chanting hindi tunes. As far as IR music now being crap thats not true. Have we not heard friends?? he did some great work with that. ARR has some great beats though.
  Go cback and listen to some old IR music its grat stuff, and he can churn it our by the dozens withch is something I cant say for ARR

  g.mauruthi, i think it is difficult to find. it is because cassette sales were not so organised during IR's period. almost everybody went for preparation of their own collection of IR's songs including the brand new release(of that time). But now, in ARR case, the sales is bit more organised. So i think it is very difficult to predict based on the copies sales.

  ARR has sold 100 million copies of his album ( Worldwide ).
  
  Padayappa songs sold 1.2 million copies in first day itself.
  
  Can IR's songs catch ten percent of market ( even in old times ) ?
  
  and urs is a lame excuse.
