The aim of this thread is to collect, at one place, interesting
stories, anecdotes, tit-bits etc, related to TFM. A newcomer to
the forum will find this collection very interesting to read. For
example, Ramki mentioned the following story in another thread:

  I was just wondering. Has Chitra ever sang for Karthikraja. Apparently, his first song (as a debutant into the industry)was supposed to sung by Chitra. Unfortunately, she couldn't make it there and they had someone else sing the song since they didn't want to miss the good time.

  That song was in an illayaraja film. Karthikraja and friends have had a habit composing when they were young. Whatever sounded nice they would show to his father. I hear that's how this song came to be. His first independent movie was "maanikam".

  aruvi: I know that KR's first independant film was maanickam. But it is widely acknowledged that pandiyanin rajiyathil was composed by KR. Thats the reason I thought that song also should count as his.

  I read an interview of TMS in "dhina thandhi" last month. The gist of what he told is given below,
  
  "Andha kAlathil kural vaLam uLLavargaL mattum thAn pAda mudiyum enru irundhathu. adellAm MSV kAlathoda pOivittadhu."
  
  when asked about why he did not sing in IRs music.
  
  "annakkiLi vandha pOdhu pAttellAm hit Anavudan ellorum TMS in thEnAna kuralinAl thAn pAttellAm hit Anadhu enru sonnargaL, adhu avarukku (IR) poRukkavillai pOl irukkiradhu"
  
  It shud be noted that, he sang some more songs with IR in thyagam (thEn malli poove) and annai or Alayam (amma nee sumandha) and other movies.
  
  In the same interview he has told that SivAji did not want CS jayaraman to be replaced by a new comer TMS but when the songs bcame instant hits sivaji retained TMS."En kural illAvittAl" says TMS,"sivaji inru illai".
  
  IMO, it's hi time we send this guy to a lunatic asylum.

  TMS is supposed to have refused to sing at a public function because the audience was clamouring for Sivaji songs and MGR songs - not TMS songs ! but if we tried to send every eccentric genius to a lunatic asylum, we would end up being the losers. We need these colourful characters as much as they need us.

  It seem whenever TMS sings in some public functions or live concerts he changes the tune and does some experiments with the tune .The consequence- tomatoes and eggs were thrown at him!!!.This happened in one of the programs he gave in trichy.

  tms sure deserved whatever he got. irunthaalum ivvalavu aanavam koodaathu. recentl;y he vented his ire on TR, who effectively sealed his career with 2 golden highly symbolic numbers in oru thalai raagam. the songs are "en kathai mudiyum neram ithu", and "naan oru raasiyilla raaja"!!! man, what a coincidence that these songs aptly summed up TMS's state. apparently, TMS told TR that these songs should not be included as they are very "inauspicious", but TR vidavillai. he was determined to see the end of TMS, it appears!!! anyway, TR-kku intha samooga sevaikkaga oru shottu!

  But the final nail was from TR's Rayil PayaNangaLil. He gave TMS 'amaidhikku peyardhan shanthi' song which had a line 'noolum illai, vaalum illai, vaanil pattam viduveNa'

  1.IR's real name is rasayya.
  2.Sivakumar alias palanisamy was(is) a painter.
  3.raja's first movie as MD is Deepam and not annakili.It was supposed to be MDed by VK who cudn't bcos of some reasons and hence the movie was given to

  hey guys, i am sure none of u will believe this, but Gangai Amaren is IR's elder brother! Now, now don't laugh. I mean it. I got the info from a mridangam
  master whose father taught the mridangam basics to IR. don't have any other evidence. btw, Gangai's real name is Amar Singh.

  annakkili WAS IR's first movie. There's an interesting tale behind the first song that they recorded for the film. IR and Panju are in the studio. All the players
  are ready. ,2,3,4..machchane paatheengala takes off. singer renders song wonderfully. song okayed in first take.
  when they play the song to hear how it sounds, nothing!!! There was a power cut during the entire recording which no one had noticed!! IR was enormously dejected at this abasagunam. Panju pacified him and the song was recorded again, this time when the power was on.

  Today's (tomorrow's) HINDU has short reviews of 10 Tamil films being released for Deepavali. 6 of them have music by Deva, 2 by Ilaiyaraja and 1 each by S.A. Rajkumar and Vidyasagar.

  Our comedian Daler mehendi has given an interview in Outlook.He says 95% of the musicians in india,it seems, don't know what is "svara" and the rest of them (5%) can't come up to his "level".

  When u enter Deva's house ,guess what welcomes U....
  It's a large foto of IR!!!!
  
  This was shown in an "interview with deva" in SUN TV in a speciial programme on the pongal day.
  Kungumam also mentioned about this is one of its articles.Another interesting thing it had mentioned was Deva's huge collection of english cassettes and CDs. I don't have to tell U that he's a connoisuer of english music. ;-))

  The story for nAdodi thenral was penned by IR.
  
  SAR has said in an interview that he's the only talented "composer" after IR.
