This may be a 'crazy' query,
But whenever some big arguments (related to TFM) are happening in our DF Threads, somebody or other quote an example / uvamai from Cricket ... ARR is tendulkar, IR is gavaskar, MSV is Bradman, Harris Jayaraj is virendar sehwag and latest - our dear friend rajaG is mohandas menon and so on .... :-)
Is my assumption right ? - Most of TFM DFers are interested in cricket too ..... ;-)

i'll probably go onto my next favourite.......F1 :-)
MSV = Ayrton Senna (not that his music is dead like Senna.......but he is the greatest ever)
GR,KVM = Giles Villenevue
IR = Alain Prost(his record broken by schumi)
ARR = Michael Schumacher(settin new records)
HJ = Juan Pablo Montoya(aggressive like schumi, making waves recently)
Deva,SAR,Sirpy........i don consider them as musicians.......so may be equal to drivers of minardi
ok now........does any one else in this forum watch F1.........or have I annoyed u guys??

I used to follow it when I was in India (more than 10 years ago).
One small correction to your list.
IR IS SENNA!
MSV is Fangio (Does your memory go that far back? He is one of the greatest ever!)
ARR is Schumacher
Prost? I dunno. Were/Are there any gentlemen composers who achieved a great deal and played fair in TFM? :)
BTW what record of Prost's did Schumacher break?

on: Tue May 21 13:58:24 EDT 2002
imo Prost is better than Schumacher. Remember, he went head to head with Senna and still won so many F1 titles. Schumacher is lucky in that he entered F1 later than these giants. BTW did you read the latest news? Schumacher's team is "cheating" this year so that he can win another championship. I put it in quotes because what they are doing is legal but still wrong (similar to Greg Chappel's famous underarm ball to win some trophy in the 70s/80s)

tigger.......
i said MSV is Senna and not Fangio coz i am sure Fangio's record of Five Champs wud be equalled by schumi this year..........Senna was the greatest IMO........the speeds which he reached were simply astonishing
and just in case u didnt know Fangio was helped in a similar manner by his team mate for his 4th/5th champ........so pretty close call i guess!!!!! :-))

I did a search on Ayrton Senna and came up with the following tributes:
..Senna's self-belief had a certain arrogance about it, but when he began to do unbelievable things in Formula 1, he was easly forgiven...
...If Senna was addicted to the adrenaline that came with winning, then withdrawal symptoms induced by failure produced a man beyond reason. He sometimes seemed to operating in a private world outside our understanding. For mere mortals, it was the only evidence of a flawed genius...
...as he continued his pursuit of excellence with an analytical brain that would leave no detail, no matter how small, unchecked. His great attribute was the ability to continue his analysis while in the car...
...Said Ron Dennis: "He was able to drive the car to the absolute limit of its mechanical ability, yet he still had the mental ability to take in what the car was doing and recorded it in microscopic detail. Combined with a talented engineer, he could get the optimum performance out of the car."...
...While Senna may have been hard to work for at the race track, intolerant of anything less than total commitment, the bearer of grudges against those who dared to criticize, he was nevertheless an immensely loyal and kind friend to the few who had broken through the stout personal barrier and won his confidence and trust. Engineers who won races with Senna were devoted, and will not hear a word said against him...
Just read the last para again. Put in IR instead of Senna and "recording studio" instead of "race track". OF COURSE IR IS SENNA!! :)

OISG:
IR = Karpov yennala othukave mudiyaathu...History wise ok. But style wise, no! Karpov was a slow, schemer, more like a praying mantis who took a lot of time and his style was dull, just mow down the opposition slowly!
We can say IR = Kasparov and ARR = Kramnik, thats more acceptable :)

boardsover, imo the greatest in TFM is IR - there is no question in my mind.
The greatest in F1? I lost touch with F1 after I came here in early 90s so I dunno much abt Schumacher. Fangio I only read about him. So the greatest imo is Senna, Prost a very close second. But based on a few articles I read you cannot say just one person as the greatest. Fangio, Prost, Senna, Schumacher would be the greatest 4.

ARR - Charles Townes (the guy who is credited with inventing the LASER)
HJ - Gould (The guy who claims it was his original idea which Townes copied.)
Both used to work in the same department, Townes was a Professor, Gould was a research assistant.
Gould went on to win the patent case and is a millionaire today.
Townes won the Nobel.
Ok , I know im gonna get something smart thrown at me for this.:)

tigger,
u consider IR greatest..........IMHO MSV is the greatest..........thus it kinda makes sense for us to equate Senna to ppl whom we think are the greatest
Sarat,
watchout..........stones heading straight towards you :-))).........okok im not far behind either......u took up Phy and i took up F1.......the two things which most ppl find boring :-)))

no stones from here.. only rotten tomatoes and eggs!!
I guess more than IR, ARR shud be Einstein.
Einstein turned the whole course of Physix and life.
ARR did the same to TFM!
btw.. wasnt Laser based on some Einstein theory??
seri seri.. lets drop this topic. ;)

I think I'd say Mika Hakkinen is ARR and senna is IR for sure!! when MSV was a hit at his time he was like Schumi....
- From: Juan Pablo Montoya (@ 194.85.200.36)
on: Thu May 23 01:02:19 EDT 2002
Isaipriyan, Rahman is not Hakkinen for Sure.. Unlike Hakkinem, rahman was pretty much in form in 2000, 2001 and still in the game. SO he isnt having any slumber now, if thats what you r trying to convey. Rahman is more like M Schumacher, (though i personally hate schumi, for statistical reaons he is the best analogue) He is not so well 'liked' by everyone, for his underhand tactics, but he nevertheless in most races, takes pole with the opponents nowhere in sight. Except for underhand tactics, rahman does the same.. the opponents are nowhere in sight. and he will be a legend in his own right in some years once people realize this.
To further the TFM / F1 bit
1. Yuvan Shankar - Heidfeld/ Button/ Raikkonen - very promising but still need a good break.
2. Karthik Raja - Our own Alex Yoong.
3. Bharatwaj - Jacques Villenueve (had better times befores. now struggling)
4. Harris Jeyaraj - Heinz Harald Frentzen (one big step to glory, now almost out of sight)
I cant think of anyone for Deva. In my personal opinion, there are no montoyas and ralfs to give schumacher a fight at the moment in TFM. Also, Schumi takes home estimated $40mil from ferrari alone. Its but natural for a talent like him to get paid so well.. no??? u know where i am getting with this ;-)
