There are many many wonderful songs in old TFM (especially belonging to the period before 1980) which many of us have heard and enjoyed in the days of their popularity, but, as years rolled by those songs came to be heard only rarely. This thread is an attempt to unearth such golden oldies. Those who have longed to hear such songs can make a "nEyar viruppam" request here. In response, those who have the songs can convert them into MP3s and share it with others here. Through sites like coolgoose.com and Yahoo briefcase, it is now possible to do such sharing easily.
As rare songs are unearthed and brought out as MP3s, it would be natural to listen to them and discuss them here, so that this thread does not simply become just a set of requests and supplies.
My sister Sathya Kabali has a large collection of rare TFM goldies in cassettes and she is in the process of converting them into MP3s and putting them in coolgoose. The songs she has uploaded are available at this link:
http://www.coolgoose.com/go/music?user=sathyakabali&go=1
(You need to get your own coolgoose account in order to download.)
I would also start uploading MP3s of rare songs to the same link. For sure, you can look forward to a great set of songs being added to this collection soon.
We look forward to enthusistic contribution from many forumers.

Coolgoose patrons/friends,
Do any of you have the song
Anandha Ragam
Unkoondhal pookkal ketkume
...
by SPB (and UmaRamanan or someone else?). It must be an early 80's song, MD Shyam. No idea about the movie. I have heard this song long ago only for a couple of times. But, still its tune is lingering on in my mind. I suppose it is a beautiful one. Anybody know more info or have the song?

One more request:
I am looking for the Tamil Version of 'Que Sera, Sera' by Doris Day. I am not sure about the Film ('Aravalli'?) nor how the lyric starts with ('chinna penn aana pothile...'?).
SK, Saravanan and others, any chance?

Da Vinci: I posted a query for this song twice a few months back. No response. 'Vennila Nila' is the equivalent of 'Que sera sera'. 'Que sera sera' and 'Chinnappennana pothile' were popular in mid 50s. I am searching for it too. I don't think it was Aravalli.

Da vinci and Raj
Tamil version of "Que sera sera" is chinnap peNNaanapOthilE by A.M.Raja and Jikki in the film "Aaravalli" produced by Modern theaters. MD:G,Ramanathan.
Modern theaters T.R.Sundaram was known for remakes and lifting the tunes from other languages. He will mention a tune he liked and tell his MDs "intha tunelE oru pAttu namma padaththula pOtturunga".
Oriental Parthasarathy was working as assistant to G.Ramanathan in the film Aaravalli. He was involved in mixing and BGM. It is said this song "chinnap peNNaana pOthile" was tuned by R.Parthasarathy. Lurics by Pattukkottai.
Mellisai mannar once mentioned T.R.Sundaram asked his MDs to lift the tunes from other languages. We could not do that. That is one of the reasons the duo could not do more films under Modern theaters except their earlier ones Paasavalai, Petra maganai vitra annai, Thalai koduththaan thambi and Sugam enge.
Da vinci
I will get that song for you soon.

Sathya: Thanks. Would it be possible to post the lyrics and the song in the old song section of Dhool? I used to sing Que Sera Sera in college and one of my friends told me about the Tamil song and sang for me. I remember a few lines and not the complete song. Cheers.

Interesting that all of you mentioned this song. I saw this movie in VCD two days ago. It has one Eashwar as the hero and Mainavathy as the heroine. The movie is based on a sub-story from the Mahabharatha (the Pandavas come in various small roles in the movie; V Gopalakrishnan comes as Abhimanyu). G Varalakshmi, who comes as the "villie" (heroine's mother and the queen Aravalli who conducts clever competitions and enslaves all men who lost in the competitions) is the main player in the movie. The movie was not boring at all. chinnap peNNAna pOdhilE, anbE undhan munnAlE and chinnakkutti naaththanaa are the good songs among the 12+ songs. chinnap peNNAna pOdhilE is a nicely picturized dream scene where Mainavathi and Eashwar are dressed in very modern outfits. Eashwar is > 6 feet tall while Mainvathy is just about 5 feet. The difference in heights is so glaringly obvious and funny in the romance scenes. If you need me to upload mp3's of any of those 3 songs from that movie let me know.
By the way, chinnap peNNAna pOdhilE was featured in our newtfmpage-SOTD a few months ago.

Hi Guys,
Thanks to you all.
It was nice to hear the song after a long time. SK, why not upload those song sequences, if you can ? I would certainly be delighted to see it. I still remember the three names, Aravalli, Sooravalli and Alangaravalli from the film, though I have forgotten that it had its theme in the Mahabaratha. Raj, it is nice to know that you used to sing the original. This song (both original and the tamil adaptation) is set in a beautiful waltz and any guitarist would love to accompany it.
