And how about changing the clock to IST. I some how am not used to this daylight saving time and things like that. IST is better because all of us are more used to it. How about u RR? What do u feel being in this part of the world? Sorry for spamming this place. it only shows that i am interested. OK?

Kamesh: you have pointed out many features. thanks for the suggestions. We'll explore this 'my TFM' thing and how far we can make it realistic. Probably it can support descending/ascending order of threads, IST/EST, etc based on your preferences. Let's see.
BTW forum hub, news hub are hosted on a different machine. Cannot include in 'my TFM' :-(

Ordering of threads: this is done hourly. We had some problems yesterday due to layout changes. Now it's fine.
who's surfing: http://newtfmpage.com/visitors.html . it's on main page. maybe we'll link it on forum too.
login/passwd: as bb said, it may affect the traffic. Maybe in future.. We have already done something for anonymizer.com postings.

Certain controversial threads ought have a login/password. For example, threads like ""ARR vs IR", "Deva Bashing", "Deva Eulogizing", "Is MSV running out of stuff ?", "Who will replace Chandrabose ?" etc., ! ;-)

Ravi/Rajaram/Ramki/BB :
There have been several instance of hoax-news and flase-announcements, for instance, in new ARR releases thread. These postings need to be deleted as soon as the veracity of the info is falsified.
Several DFers visit this site for getting information on new albums, the song reviews etc... If they get false info here repeatedly, they might be turned away from visiting this site, and this may not a good thing in a long run.

I emailed about this to you, TFM page start page photo --- why MSV and other oldies have been removed. Is TFM owned by ARR or IR...
There was a cry to remove Deva's picture,I do not know why there is no cry from anyone when MSV and other oldies pictures were removed.
Why this partiality?

TFM page will be incomplete without featuring or honouring the Veterans in the title page.
Just to ask? What would have happened if you had removed raja's picture.

RR,
You had mentioned earlier that forumhub and news hub are hosted in a differant machine and cannot be included in "my TFM". Is hosting in differant machines a problem at all. Ultimately you are just going to give links isnt it?
Pl. clarify.

Why are we spending so much time on TFM.Isn't there anything else to talk about?
1) Why not change the name Tamizh Discussion Page and incorporate discussion on epics like Ramayanam and Mahabaratham.
2) Perhaps part of the page can be dedidicated to schooling kids-to post their doubts in any subject.I'm sure there will be a number of intellectuals to clarify their(students')doubts.
Do we really need that many topics to discuss on matters of Tamizh Film and Tamizh Music?
#1 can widen our knowledge on the topics of epics
#2 can get the Tamizh kids to use this page to get the clarification needed and olso to compare the teaching and understanding of subjects.

It saddens me greatly to see the standard of posts slip day to day. The standard of decency hits a new low every day in this forum. There used to be a time when I was one of those participants who needed to contain myself and measure up to the restraint and class shown by posters such as Sathiya Keerthi, NOV, Kanchana and others. Now things have deteriorated so much that someone like myself has to be the voice of reason.
The admins of this page aren't paid for their editorial duties, they aren't appointed by a selection committee of members either. They do it voluntarily for their love of TFM. The DF is still very much a grassroots organization whose sheer growth has been based on public participation and enthusiasm. But maintaining civility is everyone's responsibility. Just the way we wouldn't tolerate a stray dog defecating at our footsteps, we shouldn't be passive towards verbal defecators. While the number of new entrants to this forum is flattering, the staying power of participants gets shorter all the time. A major reason for this is that everyone hasn't the patience to wage a war to just state their point while the majority, that sometimes can just be a few successive posts by likeminded folks, smothers their voice. Most commonly, opposing views don't even bother to make a case for themselves. Words like "stupid," "idiot" and worse are thrown around casually while pointed towards an individual--even while describing a song or theme the usage of such words is bordering on okay, but a direct assault on another forum participant is unforgivable. The victim of this verbal abuse is left with a muted rage and a clear understanding, as long as he/she differs from the popular factions within the DF there is no place for that individual here.
I'm no sage dispensing advice here. This is a plea from a fellow participant. This place has been my garden, lounge and library for quite some time. I've had some invigorating exchanges, discovered many unknown songs and learned a whole lot about music in general from fellow participants. I've also learned this truth about Indians in general in this forum--they hate contrary points of view. They feel their very being threatened when their taste is assaulted. We all have biases knowingly or unknowingly, but let's make a pledge that allows contrary opinions to thrive. Let's not go for the easy, knee-jerk reaction of name calling. It's such an eyesore and speaks volumes about our background and stature. And please don't forget, this might be a specialised forum but anyone can waltz in here without invitation; let's do our best to make them want to return.

Udhaya!
Well said!
Recently, I even saw a four lettered word posted...it's high time each of us realize that while we may be passionate about a person's/group's/type of/creed of/category of music/song/album, it is utmost important to show respect for similar preferences of others too!
After all what's intolerable to me can be `great' to another and it's all a question of taste! (Of course, the vice-versa also is true and hence healthy criticism / decent exposure of plagiarism etc. should be tolerated too!)

Udhaya, eden: I agree with you. Do you guys want to revive politeness and the DF and have a discussion again? :-). I am sorry that I have not been looking in here for a while. I'll be more vigilant. I request all the patrons to bring excesses that slip past us to our notice. Do send a copy to ravi@newtfmpage.com for urgent matters. Thanks.

Ravi, thanks for the revived interest. But I know what a task it is to maintain a constantly changing forum such as this. You guys have your hands full, besides you need to live your lives too. This will only work if quite a few people blow the whistle whenever they see a breach. I'll do my part and I hope others join in too. We can't complain about standards when we don't help safeguard it. Action is better than aversion.

I can do only one thing, I will join your quest!...and make sure I maintain the culture...
