  The movie is not worth remembering, anyway! I remember the song 'neeraadum nEram nalla nEram' being picturized sooo poorly with CID Sakunthala dancing.

  On Sunday, 23rd May 2004 Rhythm's India will feature Vintage edition of old tamizh and hindi hits. I am trying to put together a show featuring the best of LM and PS. I can swing the LM part no problem. The PS part might not be very successful (unless some samaritans from here can provide me with some quality PS solo tracks (varied) in the next 30 hrs....)

  Thank you very much for your help with PS solos MP3 files. I have received your mail. Could you please also provide details (year, film, MD) for the songs you have sent my way? If there is any one highlight about a song - please include that (short-aa irukkannum :-))
  
  Also - My intention is to showcase the grace and versatility in PS's range. I am trying to match one hindi LM song (say a "ghost" song) with a similar song by PS. That is the framework for the programme (I can include about 9/10 songs depending on length - by each singer) Hence - the songs should reflect diversity (sogam, mogam, kadhal, aadal ("cabaret",) bhakti, shakti...you get the idea?) -
  
  Here are some I would definitely like to consider (if you can help with files)

  I feel the selectoin is good.
  
  If U find more time U can consider these songs also.
  I feel "sonnadhu nee thaana " is one of her masterpiece in sogham list. ( maalai pozhuthin also equally good)
  Mannavan vanthaanadi or nalanthaana can be best choice for the power in her voice ( carnatic semi classicals) . kangal enge or kannukku kulamathu can show her singing ability of hindustani based songs .
  A ghazal type "en vaanathil aayiram velli nilavu" from kaaviaya thalaivi
  A marvari type can be "unnazhagai kanniyargal" form uthama puthiran, which can also represent a song in 50's.
  "ganagi karai thottam" for the mixed emotions like happy,dream, sorrow ..
  "oru naal iravu" in which she switch over the voice for a young daughter and a mother without any gimmics. each line filled with right emotions.
  U can select atleast a song which was sung by lata in hindi and PS in tamil.. "ponmeni thazhuvamal" is the right choice.. "naane varuven" also equally good. ( atleast one ghost song)
  solla solla inikkuthada or saravana poigayil can fulfill devotional part..

  The concept for the programme has been in my mind of a very long time. But the task was and is still daunting: How to choose 9 songs from the thousands sung by LM and PS? It also seems arrogant.
  But the challenge is seductive.
  
  The programme is not only for PS fans (not to detract from their special delight) but also for the world at large to hear two of India's defining female playback voices. I'd say LM and PS have attained "inexorable" status in India's collective memory.
  
  Thank you very much for your files and your recommendations. I will do the best I can.
  
  If you can find me good copies of the following songs, please do send them to me by tomorrow:
  
  Parththa Nybagam Illaiyo (for some reason my copy only goes halfway. Does the song end abruptly??)
  
  Maraindhirundhu Paarkkum Marumamenna? (This is my pick from TM. And I don't have it!)
  
  and
  
  Love Birds. (My copy is from a mono recording. All buzz, no birds.)

  Ippadi Paattellam Koduththu, Programme Kaekkaama Irundha Eppadi? :-) First, a big Thank You to you and the PS rasigars for sending me some fine audio files. Those tracks made a qualitative difference to the show, nichchayama!
  Speaking for myself, I must say that the 2 hours slipped by...kann imaikkum tharunaththil! LM, PS and Me in the studio...Felt like singing (to myself) Yaarum Illai Inge, Sugam Sugam Idhu (a delightful PS-TMS duet from Pannakkara Penn - but not part of the programme!!) I was happy with the compilation, and made sure they show-cased the great range of both the artistes. Of course, some of the vada indhiya neyargal were unhappy with the tamizh-hindi tamizh-hindi PS-LM PS-LM format of the programme. They complained that it should have been entirely LM hits...Ingeyum Hindi Aadhikkam! (This comment is usually expected when I present a Tamizh or South Indian Music show...the Northerners are quick to express their displeasure at the southern languages!) I don't pay too much attention to it any more....Racism by any other name is still...?
  
  Raj tuned in. It would be only appropriate for him to comment on the compilation/presentation and the whole show. After he shares his views, I could post the order and list of songs that were featured on the programme. Sariya?

  Actually, I got confused with the schedule. I logged on at 8pm (indian time) and I could listen only few English songs. Afterwards I couldnt find time. I realy felt bad.
  Eager to knoe the songs U played and also the response form the people.
