sabaash! yippothaan soodu pidikkudhu!! Very interesting mails, personal attacks[neoconverts, loser,God,etc]sincere explanations and all, make this really nice. I am happy it is generating the needed attention it deserves. And, I am positive of the outcome... more exposure, more interest, and so more success!
Let me asy a few words. IIR feeels in his heart that this is his lifetime ambition and wants to have this happen. Not for any commercial reasons ; but purely for the love of music and Tamil. And, he wants it to be felt by the thousands of his fans whose sincere wishes [venki likes] and longing prayers alone will get this done. Having touched millions of music lovers' hearts for the last 30 years and having sort of moved away from active film music making, he is now embarking on this noble project when time and talent are at his free disposal. Remember, when money was there, time was a constraint but now he is relatively free and OUR show of enthusiasm will move him to do this, i am positive. It is a disgrace even to expect IIR to 'comeout of the closet' with a begging bowl as some has suggested. In turn, I am challenging each and every one of you to look inward, touch your heart and feel the call from the Maestro echoing there. Having enjoyed his music all these years, this is the least we all can do. i leave it upto you.
And, finally, regarding taking responsibilty issue, let me say this. This project is for real and if we all will it, it will happen. Give him the support he desrves and if not, atleast dont load him with your words. He is much above all of us and doesn't desrve this kind of treatment from the so-called 'Die-hard fans'.

SK,
Publicity can be achieved in several ways. I don't think you would want a publicity of this sort. Apart from eagerness, there is more turmoil over the release of his music and abuse of his name.
I don't think anybody is against any projects (especially myself). One of my main difference of opinion is the way it is being projected to the mass.
I have to disagree with you in getting IR out of the closet. One should not tie up the emotional link to his music, to other things.
To me if TiS is released with 'GRACE', then I am happy. If not, all of his earlier work is enough for me to take it to the grave. I would be happy to die with it than see him go under.
Instead of us getting a charity music out of him, why not contact the audio companies and let them do it professionally. Organizers of TiS can contact audio companies and do the negotiation than to request charity.

bug,
Audio companies will not make it happen. Hiring Symphony orchestra and spending this kind of money for this type of work, nobody in business do it.
May be if is a success commercially also( I know it will be a musical success), then may be in future audio companies will queue up. Spending 5 crores on an audio project(Its much more than they would spend for a commercial movie.). Also his present commercial popularity is not all that good.
Let us leave it his way. "Ellam aduve thaanaa Nadakkum". If time is correct and ripe, something unexpected will happen by which the project will be come success through totally unexpected means. Graceful help will come from unexpected quarters. I too believe in it.
May be our talks in this forum will gather more and more momentum. May be his EX movie partners will try to sponsor. Can't guess at this point.

Dear Buggie 'bug',
How easy it is to pass judgements and comments about a man who is "WAY" over all of us, simply because we have the know-how to do so! yaaraip patri yaar pEsuvadhu? Of course, when IIR is a public commodity, anybody can pass any comments as they please! But, before doing so, just remember this, when he was making his commercial hits and releasing them almost every week not so long ago, he was not even caring for their promotion. But, this time, when it comes to his soul feeling, 'life time ambition' as he calls it, how pathetic we all are when we are contended with just passing judgement, without any qualifications, to tarnish his name, instead of embracing it. You are no different from those commercial audio companies who will not touch this with a 'barge foot' as some one mentioned earlier. HE wants to do this; he is expressing it as his 'Life time ambition'; he is looking forward to all his fans' help to make it; and what we are doing?! True to ourselves, we are casting aspirations and hurting his feelings and calling names on his true supportes as 'neo-converts' 'emotional fools' and so on. Thank you, guys. I thank 'anbe sivam' for his true feelings and join in his prayers for this to happen. We still believe in you!!!

Dear All,
It's really encouraging to see a large number responses(both positive and negative) in this thread. I would also like to thank those who've already contacted me directly expressing their interest/support in TIS. Many have volunteered to take up the task of approaching more and more IR fans.
To people like Ramesh, bug and others, while we all are frustrated because we didn't get to listen to S#1, we can't doubt IR's musican genius and intentions.
Instead, all we've to do now is just support him with our time/energy/enthusiasm and if possible donate some money. We all will be proud by being part of this after the release of TIS.
This is one opportunity for all of us to 'Thank' him for giving us innumerable delights from 1975 till today.
So, let's keep lending our support to IR as we've always done in the past. TIS will see its light in the next couple of months.

SK, SB and AS:
I am not sure which posting of mine, gives an impression that I am against TiS? Can u point it?
Please do not project yourself that you are the only hard-core souls in getting TiS for the world and doing service. There are other souls who are interested like me (well maybe more then me) apart from you all.
I put my difference of opinion in that his name (or even himself) should not be dragged to a common earthling in the name of fanaticism. He is better off not doing anything than do something to get tarnished (i am not referring to TiS, but film music). As far as TiS goes, i go by whatever I said earlier.
I am not sure in what way a charity raise to get a music out of him will do good to his name. It gives an impression that he is a destiture soul. Will the money go for the production cost or to pay his salary? Can somebody clear on that?

I just have one question :
why is it that IR who has earned perhaps 100s of crores during his tenure as a composer is not willing to seek venture capital support for this project ?
can't he try and approach labels like Sony/BMG for such a thing ?
does he really need some fans to bail him out ?
IR as a composer is a Genius non-pareil
but as a person, biggest enigma !

Dear Bug,
The following words, I quote you from your earlier mail which I felt against TiS.
"To me if TiS is released with 'GRACE', then I am happy. If not, all of his earlier work is enough for me to take it to the grave. I would be happy to die with it than see him go under."
Asking HIS fans for a non-commercial venture to make it happen is not "with GRACE"? You please answer yourself.
Just read back all the mails from all three of us-SK, SS,SB. Did we ever pose ourselves to be champions of this cause. We were only appealing to ALL of you to be the champions and we were just the co-ordinators as it happened to be that way. That's all. If we ever gave any one any impression to that effect, then this should make it clear. We are just trying to make this happenas the way IIR wants it to happen and we seek all you fans' support. Let us end this controversy and work in unison.
Reg. the querry on the need for the money, it is to organize a team of 300 musicians from all over the world and organizinfg a syphonic practice and finally recording the TiS and not a remuneration for IIR. isai nigazhcchi nadatthi SriRangam gopuram 3-m nilai kattiyavaraip patriyaa yippadi oru kELvi??
Fans or just listeners?
It is high time we all join and give him the boost he seeks.
If I have offended anyone, I apologize. I want to help this project; not in anyway to be the distractor.
Sign off!

IR was to have done a project called "Jaya Jaya Jaya hey" during the late 90s - he even went to Jaipur for composing - it fizzled out
"Moods of IR" - no signs of release
"Hey Ram" background tracks were to have been released alongwith two lengthy tracks that never featured in the movie - no signs of release
and now "Thiruvasagam in Symphony" - its release date - a big question mark !
what next then ? "The Holy Bible" in Hindustani Classical Dhrupad Style and "The Holy Quran" in Carnatic Thillana Style
there is no end to this nonsense

Music_lover,
Well said!!!!
Quite an interesting question:
Why IR is not shelling out his own money if it is a life's ambition for him?
I have to agree on that. If it is his own ambition why not spend his money and do it. And not worry about people buying it or not. Definetely it is not going to cost him crores.
And other stuff that you brought out like Moods of IR, JJJH, TiS etc---once again I repeat, these are all due to couple of people trying to get something from him.
It is those people's subjective preference (Thiruvasangam) tied up with emotions lead to dragging of IR to all these "it-is-gonna-be-done" kind of news. Then, Why don't we do this with thirukural or gita etc.
What we don't realise is that to let this man go with 'grace'.
Puli varuthu puli varuthu engira kathai maathiri--many instances have gone sour with IR. End result was name to get tarnished by these handful people.
To me, I would have been happy if he had quit like 'Seinfeld' when the show was at its peak. That leaves an anticipation even now to see the show, but it will never happen. Hence people see re-telecasts many times and cherish and have their own versions of sequels.
My take is: IR should decide what to do and what not. And stop all the external pressure and do what he wants with his music and life. And as far as all the fans goes, we have to respect whatever he does and give him a break. It won't look nice if I like thirukural and ask him to compose a symphony for that.
