6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Yuva audio sales lead the market! By MIO Team Apr 25, 2004, 09:00
It takes one genius to recognize another genius is a popular proverb
proving to be true in the successful combination of Maniratnam and
AR Rahman.
Maniratnam had always proved that he knows how to pick the right
people for the right job. Their latest offering 'Yuva' has been one
of the biggest audio hits of the year both in Hindi and Tamil.
From 'Roja' to 'Yuva', what strikes the most is the way AR Rahman
has constantly reinvented himself for Mani Ratnam. While melodies
ruled in Roja, it was a mix of great sound and lilting folk
in 'Thiruda Thiruda', foot tapping beats in 'Dil Se' and haunting
melodies in 'Kannathil Muthamittal'.
Coming after the so called duds for AR Rahman
like 'Tehzeeb', 'Meenaxi' and 'Lakeer', atleast from a collections
Point of view, 'Yuva' is just what every marketing guy would want to
lay his hands on. And if you are someone who is open to full fledged
experimentation with techno sounds generated by electronic
instruments, then 'Yuva' is just what the DJ ordered for you.
There are totally six tracks including a purely instrumental piece.
While it is being said that the Tamil version has much better
lyrics, Hindi version scores over in the rendition of songs.
With the film scheduled for a early May release, the timing of audio
release seems perfect. Now the entire country, atleast genuine movie
lovers, are awaiting this film's release with bated breath.

Meet the stars of Aayitha Ezhuthu - A Preview: Courtesy: Sify.com
Movie: Aayitha Ezhuthu
Director: Mani Ratnam
Producer:Madras Talkies
Music: A R Rahman
Cast: Surya, Madhavan, Siddharth, Esha Deol, Meera Jasmine, Trisha, Bharadiraaja, Nadhiya, Sreeman, Janakraj.
Mani Ratnam says that his Aayitha Ezhuthu is actually based on the life of a student of Osmania University in Hyderabad. Aayitha Ezhuthu is about three young men from three different strata of society having different views towards life. Their paths cross one day and their life changes forever. (See: Pictures from the film)
Surya is a child protégée who is invited to America to do his Ph.D under Nobel Laureate Weinberg. He is violent by nature and can’t tolerate anything he believes is wrong. His love interest is Esha Deol who teaches French and studies politics. She is madly in love with him and always waiting for him to propose. But Surya is not keen as he does not believe in the institution of marriage. He wants Esha to move in with him and live together.
Madhavan is a mean street ‘dada’ of Chennai, a guy who grew up in the slums. He uses the language of the gutter and at the least provocation gets violent. The guy however has one weakness, his lovely wife Meera Jasmine, a Brahmin girl with whom he had eloped. Maddy’s mantra in life - “If you don’t get it by asking, then snatch it.”
Siddharth plays a typical Tamil Brahmin engineer on his way to USA, the land of fortune and opportunity. He believes “in minimum efforts but maximum returns”. He will do anything to live life to the fullest- ‘anything’ includes lying, bending the rules, cajoling, even begging! His ‘nanba’ is Trisha who wants to raise his family. They live up life in discos! Suddenly out of the blue their paths cross which leads to the twist in the tale, as they encounter a common enemy! The film has an impressive technical team of Ravi K Chandran (camera), Sujatha (dialogues), A R Rahman (Music), Vairamuthu (lyrics), Sabu Cyril (art), Sreekar Prasad (Editing), Brinda (Choreography) and Vikram Dharma (Stunt).
Colour tone in Yuva/Aayitha Ezhuthu
The blue tone for Siddharth says that he is a terribly romantic person always willing to take risks for his own sake. The crimson red color for Madhavan is to suggest his anger towards the society for the situation he finds himself in. Surya has a green tinge for his trailors which says that he is in the process of making a revolution but is not sure of the final result. It was nice that you noticed these strange colors in trailors. I feel that this was used only for the trailors and not in the films. Let me tell you something striking about this. If all these colours come together we get a white colour, which is the symbol of peace. May be that's what Mani Ratnam is trying to suggest. But you never know. He might spring a surprise. I am waiting eagerly for the film.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anant Nag and Om Puri in Yuva.
Veteran Kannada actor and Janata Dal member, Anant Nag will be seen in Mani Ratnam's Yuva, along with Om Puri. Anant Nag also played the lead in Shyam Benegal's classic, Ankur and also Amol Palekar's Anaahat.
Mani Ratnam's latest offering Yuva is reportedly the director's costliest venture till date bettering Dil Se.., which was also made in Hindi. Mani Ratnam, a management graduate, plunged into film making in 1983 with a Kannada film Pallavi Anu Pallavi and bagged the state award for the best film. He followed it up with successful ventures mostly in Tamil like Mouna Raagam, Nayagan, Dalapathi, Roja, Bombay and Alai Payuthey. In spite of so many successful films and the rich visuals in his films, the budget of the film never crossed 10 Crores for his Tamil films. His only other Hindi film Dil Se.. which was made on 12 Crores was a big flop. Now he has gone ahead and made a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi at the combined cost of 20 Crores, with nearly 65% of the resources used by the Hindi film. Though the industry is doubtful about the fate of the film at the box-office, Mani Ratnam has already planned his moves to such an extent that he might break even with the cost on the film even before the film is released on May 21, just like he did with Kannathil Muthamittal. Hit or flop, Mani Ratnam doesn't lose anything with the venture. Being a management graduate helps!

It is such a sad state of affair to know Meenaxi is at 9th place, being one of the best albums by ARR all-time in my opinion.
That is one complete album(though i dont know Hindi) which has the trendy music, Quality and the best of all a very repetitive hearing flava attached to it.
This shows how pathetic the music marketing is. they might market a bad music and ppl can consider gr8 while good music is just in the background... pitiful

This is what IR predicted 12 years ago (i.e. good music being relagated by "commercial" elements) , and it took us this long to realize it.
