i think "copying" is there for a long time in tamil film history. Here we discuss the tamil songs copied from others.
1.Vedha:i know he always go for a hindi tune in his films(mostly for Modern theatres). No alterations! he just copy a full hindi song !
best examble:Manam ennum medai mele(Gil tho ye kulu yahag)
2.MSV: i hear that(from Sujatha's book"Neerkumiligal") "thulluvatho elamai" was a song copied from english to almost all famous indian langages. Is there any other songs MSV copied?
3.Illayaraja:Even the GOD of MUSIC Raja sir did some thing like this.He just used that "I love you"style from BOneyM Sunny for "darling darling"in priya.I have heard a totally same song like "Kanavu kanum valkkai yavum" in Hindi also.(i forgot the film).
and i dont know who is the MD for the song"ehu pal vadiyum mugam! ethai parpathu than sugam".But i heard the same song in an english film.
4.ARR : i was told from my friends that he did copying intelligently.drum beats and some music styels from cassettes like "enigma, ace of base".And the humming before the song "thillana thillana" is a 100%copy from the film"the island of Dr.Mozeru".
5.SA Rajkumar : a lot of help from hindi! best example "mallikai puve malligai puve parthaya" from "didi tera thevaru thevana"
5.DEVA:hee..hee..the master.(better we see how many songs he did on his own instead of seeing how many songs he copied!)
like wise there is a lot of songs are copied from Tamil to Hindi also..
Now its your turn friends....

I thought I would make the following suggstion. Dunno if it makes sense or not..
Did you guys remember the way kasparov Vs. the world match was conducted? The expert panel of 3 (or 5 people) submitted their suggestion for the next move and all chess enthusiasts from all over the world voted for what they thought was the best move next. The move was based on the majority of public votes.
We can adapt this to our situation. I say that let the experts panel vote on whether a song is copied or not( anonymously or otherwise, it doesn't matter, they'd give out a final decision with number of for Vs number of against votes).. Then we can let the other DFers decide on separately whether it is a copy or not. We can just display the experts decision(for Vs against) and also current vote of others take on this..
Each one can base his/her decision on whatever he/she thinks is more valid - public opinion or experts opinion..
However, some one has to prepare a web page for voting ( I saw someone do this for Top Ten List of songs long back). Obviously there are issues of multiple voting by the public etc., I have no idea how to block these ( using a username and password? Appuram anonymity poyidum). Namma oorula General Election-ke kalla vote podumpodhu, newtfmpage Rigging-kku kavalaippadalaamaa?

Guys, though I can place things technically I could tell that thangath thAmarai was not an exact copy. So from the beginning I never used that word. I have said only source/inspiration etc. Anyways, thanks for clarifying. I will try to identify the beats myself. At the end, I am of the same opinion as RJAY i.e. ARR has heard this song before he composed thangath thAmari.
(Athi, dude..bulletin boards are a virtual world. How did you dominate/assert yourself in school, work, home etc ? I am sure you did positively contribute in all these places. Do the same thing here and see for yourself you will feel good being here)

the beat cycle is completly different.
arabic songs sounds like a 7/8 cycle ,
thanga thamari is 4/4
the first 3 notes are sa re2 ga1
in the arbic song.. chord progression goes gminor and shifts to cm.
thanga thamari has lot of major minor chords shifting, lots of variation, I dont think that they sound a link except for the first 3 sa re2 ga1, cannot be called as copy.
The starting point uses cow bell sound migth make you think that they are alike.
what the hell wrong in this
sounds like a 7/8 cycle
-- i was not sure from work, thats why i put it (sounds like),
mr. Arul was kind enough to add some ears and nose to what I told.....I claimed to be 7/8....there is lot of differnce in both the words..claomed...i dont claim...as rajag told rupkam...i told it sounded 7/8 to me ...no big mistake deal ...no one is running away..........echo you are twisting words.....
stop this crazy act.

ok, i agree u said, "sounds like" not "is". but my ques is why should u make when u are not sure that too that soon. because every body here believe what u say (sounds or is or may be or should be) is correct. better u could have told it was not so, rather than saying i thought so.

Your post is excellent. bb, you may try to read through Ravi's post.
ECHO:
Please cool down. Let us clarify instead of piling mutual accusations. Some of us wanted to have a copied songs page. What do you want ? If you can vent out your opinions on what you want, we may discuss it here. Let us see if anything fruitful turns out.

I can see that many (not all) here wants to portray himself/herself as one knowing more music - or atleast have been around 'talking' about music. And hence all the picking and fighting. I dont see any 'Discussion' going here, rather 'hey I know more than you' is whats keeping this forum alive. This is really not going to lead anyone to appreciate music better.
People like srikanth and rjay have been very resourceful in that they have been writing a lot of technical funda many people are not aware of. Very educative. I would like to see 'participation' in the discussion and not just raising voices.

Music is not to debate but to enjoy. Everyone is born with a little musical ability. I strongly feel rest is all learnt. So when u learn something, u discuss it in forums like this and let everyone know your point of view. By this, many would come to see the side of music that they might have not seen. No one can 'claim' his musical knowledge is superior. This would mean that he enjoys music much more than anyone else.

Krishnamurthy,
the chaos in this forum is not because of people trying to show off their knowledge , but is due to a bunch of muck-heads with an inability to think, who post whatever comes to their mind s and expect others to accept that. just keep them on your Ignore list and u would be fine.

I think this thread has gone for long.I think this thread has created more animosity than all other thraeds put together including the recently scrapped IR Vs ARR.Just what are we all trying to prove to each other-that copying is rampant in tfm?this is not something new-it is going to be part and parcel of tfm -only the degree and extent vary.EVERY MD IN ,I SHOULD SAY,INDIAN FILM MUSIC HAS COPIED.Then why shout hoarse at Deva alone.Do you think that the ordinary tfm fan is going to be least bothered that a particular song is original or Inspired or copied.as the poet said, thirudanaa paarthu thirundhavittal thiruttai ozhikka mudiyadhu.so guys, why dont all of you give it a break instead of shouting yourself hoarse.I think it will be in the best interest of the site to wind down this thread-dont even put it in the archives-some fellow will pull it down from the attic and the whole show will start again. As long as the music is good enjoy it!as some one had written,we all have become so paranoid about tfm any song i listen to now ,i subconciously start wondering whether i should wonder (this is not a typing error,I assure you all)whether this is a original or not.so,let tempers cool down a bit.think whether you really need a seperate website for copied songs and become laughing stock of entire world or prefer to remain a LS within confines of tamil koorum nallulagu!
