Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.

It is unbelievable , i get to listen such a melancholy from a recent movie. Hats off to the original MD who weaved-in violins and flute so nicely . Mano and sujatha literally sob with their expression and the lyrics do the rest of tear shedding.
After sometime , i thought i was listening to some IR's tune for a early 70's kind of lyrics.
Though i am not a big lover of sad songs , this one was a heart-throb.

bb: Thanks for Neela vannak kannaa vaada. It brings back lot of happy memories from Kumbakonam.
I remember more lines from the song:
Nadunga cheyyum vaadaik kaatre
Nyayamalla undhan seigai
Thadai seyven thaalaip pottu
Mudindhaal un thiramai kaattu
Vinnnil naan irukkumbodhu
Mannil oru chandiran edhu
Amma enna pudhumai eedhu
Enre ketkum madhiyai paaru
There are a few more lines. I don't remember.
Thanks again for a song from your parents' generation!

Saravanan has written a detailed article on the music director G.K.Venkatesh, who gave us several unforgettable songs. This follows a series in the Song of the Day section a while back, where a song of GKV was featured every week. Read the article here.

Kalki has rated "Nadhi karaiyile" movie with Distinction. But there's no mention of Sirpi's music. The other 2 movies which got a shottu from Kalki Pillaiyaar are "Pithamagan" and "JulieGanapathy" in the year 2003.

'nIla vaNNa kaNNA...'. Wonderful song. Believe me or not, my wife's mom and aunt who visited us one at at a time when my son was born, used to sing this song as the lullaby for making him sleep. I even remember my mother singing the same when she tried to put to sleep babies of my relatives. This song had a big impact among our moms and aunts I believe. I haven't listened to the real media file yet and I am not going to risk hearing it at the office :). BB, do you want us to have trouble at our work places ? :)

Song of the Day: pothuvaaga en manasu thangam from murattuk kaaLai.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/pothuvaaga.rm
- Sung by Malaysia Vasudevan. Music by Ilayaraja.
- Arguably the greatest introduction song ever for Rajnikanth, or for any hero for that matter. Beats other songs like "oruvan oruvan muthalaaLi" hands down. The pep and mood this song creates is probably unmatched. The filming of the song had many shots of Rajni from a camera placed close to the ground, to give the effect of a towering Rajni. Twenty years later, the song still sounds fresh and will draw an applause from any Rajini fan. Malaysia Vasudevan's voice is the most suitable one for Rajni, especially when compared to the likes of Udit Narayan and Shankar Mahadevan that Rajni had to endure in recent times.

This is the best among Rajini's all introduction songs. Malaysia Vasudevan had done a very good job. MV's voice is the best suitable for Rajini.

in the early eighties the blind school students of Podanur (near Coimbatore) put up an orchestra and did quite a few programs in and around Coimbatore. this SOTD was one of their favourites and it was a treat to watch them play, sing and enjoy this song. imho, this song doesnt attract me but the way the blind boys enjoyed it especially the percussion players (the singer being nallamuthu), is still fresh in my mind.
if i were given a chance to watch them again, i would request this song to them, just for the sheer pleasure of seeing them enjoy playing this song. their little joy in their dark world.

the ebst intro song for rajni was my name is billa because any msv song is better than any ilayaraja song. therefore if bb claims this is the bst as per his knowledge, billa should be better than this.

Just went through SOTD.
The song "Pon enbatho poo enbatho" is from a movie "koteeswaran magal".
http://www.dhool.com/sotd2/243.html
They screened this movie a few years back on sun tv. Don't remember the actors other than than Sudhakar. As Saravanan says, "gopala en saar" was a hit. Another known song being, "Sujata I love you sujata".
The movie about a guy who deserts his wife(whom he marries in a hurry) and marries his rich boss' wife. The boss if of the impression that the guy is unmarrried. Some other guy offers shelter to the deserted wife and finally she goes on to accept the guy as her husband.

bb, good choice. Once in a while you should break away from the trend of strictly hosting melodies, like this. Please also consider fast dance numbers like "Megam kottatum:, "engeyum epodhum" etc. for future SOTDs.
I believe Rahman used today's SOTD in the BGM of Muthu(or was it Sabesh-Murali who did the BGM for that film? :-) ) probably as a tribute
And BTW, you should have become numb to thittu by now :-)
