i think "copying" is there for a long time in tamil film history. Here we discuss the tamil songs copied from others.

The hindhi song - "...laakh haseen dhEkE hain - thumsaa nahin dhEkhaa " comes close to "oru naaL ithu oru naaL" sung by A.M.Raja and jikki(?). But they are surely not copies of each other (atleast the pallavis - donno the sharaNam of hindhi song)

another one:
the song "manathil orE oru poo pooththathu" (chithra) 's first line is the same as "thuLLi thuLLi alaigaL ellaam enna solluthu" sung by A.M Raja and jikki

Please visit the following link to see how IR's "aasaai adhigam vechchu" has been "ultaa"d and made a song in the famous mallu film "thEnmaavin kombaththu" - guiltless people !

(or)
http://www.jyothish.com/songs/malayalam/assorted1/maanam-theli.ra
IT is difficult to explain how it has been copied as the lead tune has been changed to a different raga. IR's composition is in Sindhu bhairavi and this is seemingly in malayamarutham. Even the interludes were not spared.
It is like taking a song set in mohanam (S R2 G3 P D2 S) and singing it in bhoopaalam (S R1 G3 P D1 S) and claiming that it is an original composition.

IR seems to have been self-inspired in that his 'thoothu selvatharadi' starting line sounds similar to 'aadal kalaiye devan thanthathu' from Shri Raghavendrar.

That mallu song.. I would call it a 'copy' in spite
of some swara changes. Also, the original 'Asai'
song is much better and lively!

hey thats not fair. I thot thenmavin kombathu came after marupadiyum. In fact I think the composers of TK (I think Benny Iglesius) have been grossly inspired by IR's song.
Can anyone check the release dates of both. IR's clean at least in this issue. I'm sure.

MS,
amazing copy;)) A very innovative way of copying. idhu yen devavukku thonaama pochu?;)) He could have taken a western song just changed its raaga and a little bit and could have composed a tamil song, instead he does cut and paste. Its not very easy for everyone to find this kind of copy, since its not very obvious at the outset.
A clever copy. Deva should take lessons from these guys, whoever they are;))

MS, VK and I were talking about changing just one note in a song, i.e. changing R2 to R1 and prolonging the santham and slowing down the beats to come up with a 'new' song. As an aside, the famous composer G. Devarajan even threatened to return all his Kerala state awards if the composers of TK were given an award by the Kerala state, the reason being that the BGM of the movie had several songs of IR cut and pasted.

In the same MY film, there's another catchy IRish number `karuththa peNNE' (I like this song very much, esp. the saranam part)...just realized that it's another clever remake (or `inspiration'?) of `adukku malliga' of Thangamagan! (You got to listen carefully to the whole song and it'll be evident)

The background percussion/rthytm for the song 'vaa endarthu' from paarthen sirithen has been suttufied from Michael Kackson's Jam. this should be the worst song of the album,IMO.

- From: vijay (@ 129.252.22.221)
on: Sun Sep 24 23:51:14 EDT 2000
RR,
kidaikalae has some definite tune and rhythm built into it that u actually cannot hate the song even if u dont like it. actually that song too reminded me of 'bussula.. rukmanikku vikkalu nikkala' composed by IR in Kanmani;)) But i would say its an OK song.
its disappointing that being a newcomer Bharadwaj has already started behaving like Deva :()
Plus he is also not equally concentrating on all songs of an album something that ARR did for his earlier movies.

an old ilayaraja song was copied by anand milind in the sunny deol-karisma kapoor starrer 'angrakshak' which goes 'dil mera udhaas hai'. i think the tamil original goes something like 'aasaya kaathula thoothu vittu'....which movie is it??
if its old where the hell did anand milind get the idea to lift it??

hi,
Recently I happened to hear an Isreali song(by chance) "Ini im Alu .."(although not sure of first 2 words) by Ofra Haza which sounded exactly like "Thudikindra kadhal thumalay ponradhu eppavum varalam evar kandar" song from Nerukku Ner. I think it is a 100% copy(both tune & lyrics). Matchless copying machine DEVAAAAAAAAA!!
