Oh yes, despite my initial skepticism, it looks like IR has indeed derived inspiration for the Nallavanukku Nallavan song from the Rimsky composition. Listen to the original folks...its beautiful! Good find!

My feelings:
the part "chittukku sella chittukku" is almost similar to the piece that starts after 00:40, but the notes for "siragu mulaithathu" have been slightly modified as compared to the original..I would say it is a case of mild inspiration definitely, but not like "entha poovilum vaasam undu" which was close to a lift
Good one, Rimsky!
and thangaladasami(arul?), thanks for the link, the piece is too good :-) I am pleasantly surprised at the melody in the original WC piece, the first few mins..

In Kandukondaen Kandukondaen(K2), in a scene where Aishwarya rai is shown as a chorus singer and is all set to sing a chorus for gangaiamaran's orchestration. the main singer doesn't turn-up and eventually aishwarya will be asked to sing the chorus part(lalalalalala) in isolation. She'll do some improvisation and get a pat from gangaiamaran and finally will become a playback singer.
Now the chorus part is a kind of inspiration or improvisation from a relatively old song. That song is iru paravaigaL malai muzhuvadhum aengae aengae paRandhana FROM niram maaraadha pookkaL(NMP). This K2 Chorus is from the prelude chorus of this NMP song.

yaroo, oh oh priya first bgm... there is a cello and violin part then chours counters over it.
the lead part is similar to the bit in 7.16., somewhat same. I do not know any other way i can make you understand.in simple words try to match one of the part in that score.
btw: what do think of the main issue, you dropped out safely :):)

I recently noticed (was this mentioned before??) that "Azhagu" song from Batcha by Deva was a straight lift (may be not the whole song) from the Hindi song "Dilbar dilse pyaare" from the movie Caravan (LM, music: RDB). Yet another feather to Deva's cap.

"Radhe Govindha" from Chiranjeevi's latest telugu movie 'Indra' (MD : ManiSharma) is heavily inspired (I would say more than 70% :-) by VidyaSagar's "Vaadi Vaadi Naattukkattai"
You can listen to the telugu song at Raaga.com

on the other hand, that "vaadi vaadi naatukattai" song is inspired by "Raama chilakamma prema malakamma" from another Chiranjeevi/soundarya movie (Master i guess).

Vj,
I have heard that song and I see the similarities,
But is it from Master ? Then may be that itself is inspired from some other song ... I am asking this 'coz MD of 'master' is our great Deva ;-)))

Raamma chilakamma is from "Choodaalani vundi"...music by Manisharma...This movie was his first major hit in telugu and put him on the top position there. This song was a major hit too and Udit was unconditionally (!?!) absorbed into the telugu music scene inspite of horrendous pronunciation.
With "Radhae govindaa", I guess the producers wanted to recreate the magic with Udit-Manisharma combo and with a song on the same lines of "Raammma...". I agree that there are lots of similarities between these two songs.
BTW, "Master" (MD: Deva)had an excellent song "Thilotthamaa" sung by hariharan and sujatha, the beginning line (and only the beginning line!) of which sounds like "Thaajmahaalae nee thaavi thaavi..." (from some Prabhu movie) but in a slower tempo. Check this song out if you are interested.

Have added the old Hindi song S A Rajkumar has ripped in his latest...Ajith's 'Raja'. The song is 'Beqarar karke hame' from Bees saal baad, with music by Hemant Kumar. Nice song.
SAR has used this song as-is in the music that plays in the promos in TV. I dont think this music has been used as a song or the way it is in the audio tapes/CDs. Or has it been?
Listen to the hindi number from my site anyway!

are u referring to the song beqaraar karkae hamae yu(n) na jayiyae aapko hamarae kasam lout aayiyae. Is it by any chance set in Sivaranjani? :-)

Kupps:
Ditto. Thats the song SAR has ripped off for the promo bgm of Raja...I'm sure you'd also find it in the bgm of the movie or as interlude in some song from that movie...could possibly be a song itself...
Sivaranjani....I dont think so. Its such a easily identifiable raagam (I did have problem trying to identify Thiruda2's 'kannum kannum' Sivaranjani ...it dawned to me much later!)....that even a Carnatic music novice like me can trace it out...it doesnt sound like this raagam...but again I may be wrong!

Kaumudi,
You are right in the sense of Manisharma and Udit. The song Ramma chilakamma was a huge hit. But people fail to recognise that it was hit because of Chiranjivi's dance and the tune itself.
Udit singing for Chiranjivi is like Udit for Rajini. It doenst fit.
After that now Manisharma started a new trend in Radhe Govinda and I am not sure how long will this go.
In that song Radhe Govinda, Udit couldnt pronounce couple of words, I guess ( Mruduvadana patinai ). So these two words are sung by a different singer and mixed in the song. Unless you hear very clearly, one cannot recognise this. I was really suprised with this new trend.
I dont know why all this is happening. If Udit or anybody is mispronouncing or cannot pronounce, why dont they stop them singing?
Sorry for the above digression.

yaaro,
im surprised the the objective of IR's popularity is to get a chance from ALW.
just think of this and i know im right here... how many ARR fans have u seen who said "royal philharmonic orchestra" would have been better off using ARR instead. Or that RPO had missed out on ARR and booked IR b4 he ARR was in the scene.
I can recollect None. So you see the diference. People are contended or disspointed, bcoz of wats happenin in their domain . not bcoz of whats happenein in an another mans world.

Dear ,dear B,
you are reading between lines.I was just pointing out the results of a poll from tamil listeners and that ALW will be very surprised to know that there is another composer who is rated more than IR in madras-remember mozart from Madras?
-I am not putting down ALW-as I said he is entitled to his opinion. If he thinks ARR is the best melody maker in past 25 years he has seen, that is his opinion.was it not lalgudi jayaraman or some carnatic expert said about IR-musical genius like this comes once in a hundred years?

did ALW tell you this bit of news?
Personally, I will give more weightage to LJ or someone who knows the in and outs of our music.
I have told you-what ALW says is his opinion.I am in no contradiction there-I am clear.Have I said-what a fool ALW is calling ARR the most melodious composer he has heard?
We can only argue here in newtfmpage who is better -because we ,fans from TN,know both their styles of music in and out.
LOL,
why are you so ostrich-headed?
