KarthikS,
Vetri Vizha was based on bourne identity infact. Surprised! are you... there was a bourne movie released in American HBO network in 1980's which became a hit and was released in theatres.
Vetri vizha was a lift from that movie. Infact even b4 bourne (matt daemon) was released discussions were abuzz that this is the movie of the novel vetri vizha was lifted from.
kamal and sujatha have the knack of holding true the novel even when the english movie deviates from the novel.
moonraker is a good example :-)
but i have to say vetri vizha was a very good movie.

Vetri Vizha was indeed a very well made movie by Pratap & Ashok kumar.
Kane & Abel + As the crow flies (bid scene)+ Rajini s anger on Jayalalitha gives you Annamalai.
There was this movie Makkal En pakkam by Satyaraj.Balaje bought the rights from Malayalam movie Raja Ende magan. It was actually a crude make of Shelton novel.I forgot the name.It came in Kumudam (transalted by Ra.Ki.Rengarajan) as Jennifer.
Day of the JAckal has been raped many a time by Indian movie makers.( eg Managara Kaval ..Some of the dialogues are even from Forsyth s novel).
Suprisingly the movie New delhi (1985)(Mammoty,thyagarajan Urvasi- Mal) seems to have the same knot with the Bond movie with Michelle Yeoh where the villain a media mag creates NEWS.

OISG,
bond movie where michelle yeoh is a bond girl is "tomorrow never dies"
the premise of the story is . Media man controls and monopolizes most of the western media world and also bribes a chineese general to instigate war between china and UK.
they uyse some satellite thingie to confuse ship navigation and make the crew think they are in international waters when they are not.
I think New delhi was a vastly diefferent movie. It was a good movie too.

Annamalai was a scene by scene lift of Rakesh Roshan's Khudgarz with Jeetendra,Shatrughan Sinha and Govinda.
And the famous "breaking point" dialogue in Kuruthi Punal is from Shawshank Redemption.

Thanx. But the New Delhi times ( good movie indeed) mention was for the knot (Mudichu) only.

So Kudgarz was the first inspiration from Kane & Abel.
I vaguely(as usual) remember a telefilm by Mahesh Bhatt Janam had more or less the same story line like Agni Nakshatrm. It came during DD s hey days 84-85...Kumar Gaurav was in the cast.
But with Mahesh Bhatt s name involved i doubt Janam s originality!
S Kartik ,back to songs copy!

OISG, Kudgarz was made from a telugu movie *g Krishnam Raju &Jaya Sudha. This came in the early 80s. This was made as Kudgarz which was remade asannamalai which was again remade with Telugu with Venkatesh. This is called back to square one.
But the mother of all such copies is a Devar original.
He made at least seven movies with the same theme.
first there was Deiva cheyal ( with Major & elephants which flopped)
This was spurced up with romantic interest as haathi mera sathi which was again made as Nalla neram. four elephants got converted to mother & kid in Maa & then became Annai or AAlayam. I think both these movies had telugu versions making a full total of seven. sorry for digression

"Nadhiye" song from "Rhythm"... the 'dheemthanana dheemthanana' part is a recycle of "anbendra mazhayiley" from Minsara Kanavu...!!!
"Pacha kili paadum ooru" - Karuthamma ... the 'kokarakoka kokkokko' humming in-between is recycled from "Hilgorey hilgorey" humming in the song "Poo pookkum osai" - Minsara Kanavu (or vicer versa).

Whats interesting about ARR being the composer of all the 3/4 films...I suposed we should be surprised only if each film had a different composer!! :-))

Thank God that Vj knows TFM and fortunately enough he quoted ARR's songs. My hands are still trembling when the thought "what would have happened when someone goes on pointing out songs (nay song) of SAR", comes to my mind. :-)

SAR to SAR copy is 'quite' common in TFM.,
What about SiRpi's efforts - Listen to his latest albums Unnai Ninaiththu and Varushamellaam Vasantham - I am sure SAR would be proud to get a follower ;-)

About S.A.Rajkumar, he copies from his own music. All his songs sound similar especially the rythm and instruments. He should listen to his songs before he compose a new song. No varieties. In Telugu field also it is same.
