Mr.comment;
Can you please post the site of Bach's E major or whatever......to conolidate your claims..
If you read my earlier postings, I have clearly told I haven't heard much of MSVs and I would be pleased to hear from you what comments I made on his music. Whether he has made 800 movies is a discussion between SK and me and I wonder how it offends you?
About releasing of symphony..there has been enough discussions made and one can not go beyond a certain point where not enough info. is available. But if you are too much interested in that may be you can go ahead in doing that. It is not myy topic of interest anyway.
I have gone through your discussions and it was pleasure to see what sort of good discussions you had. Let me tell you something. If you are not interested in certain kind of topics you always have freedom to keep away. Going through various topics 75% of topics are like PS or SJ, SPB or KJY, MSV or IR or some x or y comparisons. Is this what you call decent discussions? I donno how you call them as? I would suggest you to go to all those topics and keep telling people that "once upon a time" story. If people are interested they may listen to you. You have no rights to tell anybody no you can not do that as long as they do not cross the rules. Whether people waste their time or enjoy it's certainly not your business. You live the way you want. Don't worry about other's lives. TFM page is more enjoyable for many. You feel you are posting great stuffs. Have that feeling in yourself and be comfortable.....Ups and Downs make life...Have a great day!!

THat's true. The keyboard accompaniment in "And we had a conversation" is nothing but Bach's Bouree for the guitar.

You guys should know that it was intentional that Bach came out in so many forms in IRs how to name it. I wouldnt call that a copy. It shows IRs love for Bachs works. In fact he dedicated one piece to Bach's prelude - and topped it with our own music. It is IRs way of saying "thank you" to Bach. Some of Bach's counterpoints are so beautiful, yet so nicely and precisely placed which IR had a fancy for. On top of that, he wrote a piece for violin that plays our music is something really cool. So in effect, this wouldnt make a copy in my opinion.

So why shouldn't ARR say "Thank You" to Peter Gabriel?:-)

If ARR had really wanted to thank Peter Gabriel he would have named his songs explicitly like "I met Gabriel in his house" or "Gabriel, I love you" or something like that;)) he DIDnt do it.
His intention was not to thank gabriel but to suttufy his work;))

things would have been easy if bach had been alive, poeple would have concluded this as an exchanged score.
flifo, tell me your contribution here, you have done nothing but trashing composers with some basesless and meaningless arguments.
Music is not a monopoly in tfm, other composers can also think better.
Now go and trash every other composer you know in the world. You have the right. Dont do this in the name of supporting IR, this does not make you a grest IR fan.

Interesting. If I post some copied stuffs of ARR it becomes meaningless..haha..There are people who post copied stuffs of IR...Let all know that..Did I ever tell you that I am doing in the name of IR..If you derive that way...not my mistake.....

I dont think IR can justify an inspiration just by naming a song 'Bach in my backyard' or so on nor can ARR do the same by naming his song with PG's name!
Both are blatant examples of plagiarism if proved convincingly. But again, it hardly makes a difference that such instances of plagiarism are punished. The public feedback in terms of diminishing fan following and popularity are the best criteria. But since there's so little awareness of the originals a person like Deva can get away with what otherwise be equal to murder!
Listen to 'oho keech kiliye' from Mugavari and Dr Alban's 'Enemies'! One of the best examples of plagiarism - note-to-note.

You has a valid point to say. Why don't we discuss and know the facts why symphony of IR not yet been released even after 5 years (am I right).
My first posting in this forum was with this query for which flifo and other's showed me what the conductor of the symphony had to say. They also quoted me what MSV and subbudu had said.
Now , MSV and subbudu are masters in their owm field. Subbudu might be very very good in carnatic music. But, I strongly beleive and pretty sure that their knowledge about the western classical music and symphony is as good as mine. So, to say that they have given it a certificate or the conductor (John scott..correct me if I am wrong) has praised it is just a desperate attempt to save the face.
The fact remains and worries me that the work has not been accepted as of now. We all have the right to know what has actually happened. IR is not comming with facts and IR fans (hc not me) do not have the courrage to know the fact.
Inspite of this if some one again quotes and says that IR has made a symphony , if not ridiculous then what it is?

Hey SK;
I am very open on this thing. I tried my best to collect info. What all we got was some old articles related to that. I would suggest you to do this fantastic, worthwhile job to do so that millions of IR fans will be benifitted. All the best!!

flifo,
Great response. As a IR fan I would like to know things. You are the best person to collect inf. Lets all join and know the facts , what ever it may be.
"millions of IR fans will be benifitted"
Why only IR fans.? I see a sort of fear on all IR fan's postings. I will write about that afterwards. Let me not diverge.

I donno why you push the ball in my court. First of all I did not serve this ball (I mean started this issue).Truly speaking,I did as much I
could on this topic. It should not be just one single man's work...then it might look like trash. So I invite the guys to do, who are actually interested in this. Well, just always don't see everything to be an offence.....
well the reason for writing millions of IR fans is IR fans are much more eagerly waiting than anybody else for this cassette...What is the fear?? Very good joke...

Thanks Swamiji for setting the record straight. It is Bach's Violin Partita III. One of our posters here once mentioned his conversation with IR regarding this. At that time, IR had said, "I used the score as is". The violin piece IR wrote is very Indian. The whole exercise was to show the similarity/oneness between Western and Indian music. Anyways, IR has been doing contrapuntal melodies most of the time so this is just a little more serious exercise in that direction. I wish people do not misrepresent this irresponsibly.
Re: Peter Gabriel (PG). PG is some musician for whom I have great respect. The Last Temptation of Christ (Passion) is considered the first 'World Music' album. PG went on to release a CD containing the 'Sources of Passion' whereby the original artists from various countries are featured. PG also has a label which promotes 'World Music' artistes (for eg. NFAK). PG scores high for his integrity even if you do not like the kind of music he promotes.

All this talk about HTNI and IR copying from Bach is just nonsense. 'comment' out of his love for MSV just wants to confuse people here.
IR clearly acknowledges Bach in his sleeve notes (unfortunately the sleeve notes are missing in the cassette version - available only on the CD). IR wanted to point out the similarities between wc and carnatic music and that's what he did.
I checked my Bombay CD and I didn't see ARR acknowledging Peter Gabriel.

Illayaraja will not have problem if the score is in the public domain or he has permission from the copyright holder. I don't know who is the copyright holder for Bach pieces. I guess it must be 'London Trinity College of Music' or 'Royal College of Music'.
