SO BABA IS A FLOP?!

barring all barriers, there is an universal report that BABA IS A FLOP. not just from laymen, even his ardent fans are absolutely unhappy with the film. spiritual leaders and severe religious people are angry with rajini. For people who beleived that rehmanis going to be the sving grace, he was the greatest disappointment. There is no commitment or seriousness in his music. Pls read reviews in Anandha vikatan and Kumudham. Nice to know that the press is bold to express their views. Anyway for the sake of clippings, movie rights and votes SUN TV will place it at no 1 in all countdowns for the next one year. But what we want to know as ardent rajini fans is : RAJINI SIR, ARE YOU REALLY HAPPY ABOUT THE OUTCOME OF THE MOVIE? DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS WHAT IS COMING OR YOU ALSO FEEL BETRAYED AND CHEATED?

  "Baba" bashing!
  Meanwhile at the box-office, the film has taken a beating. After a fantastic opening on Independence Day, "Baba" started sliding from the second day. The word-of-mouth for the film was _ it's a "sami padam". Theatres outside Chennai where there are no advance reservations were left with unsold tickets. By Sunday, most of the theatres in the rural areas slashed their tickets price. Still, it has failed to attract the crowds.

  Hello 24.191.176.121.. they are all great news about BABA!!! WITH PEOPLE FROM ALL SUNDRIES HAVING A GO AT BABA, I STILL FIND SOME ARDENT SUPPORTERS DEFENDING BABA!! PEOPLE BOUGHT THE TICKETS EVEN BEFORE SEEING THE MOVIE.

  From every corner, Baba appears to have perforations. I would attribute the reason to Rajini's deeply implanted boo-boo's, which probably was because he self-evaluates his popularity too much. In webulagam interview, Sureshkrissna admired Rajini somewhere near to God and he seemed to be pretty confident about Baba's victory without having apt substance in it. Rajini must be confused by now. He is aged to pose himself to be a action hero. Unlike Baasha, people are not anymore interested in his swindiling political dialogues. He must have understood by now that this, in a long term, is not going to favor him. He can't be too harsh as he has lost the same guts he had during the release of Baasha. From other angles, definitely ARR's music is not the best matched one for Rajini. So Rajini, the confused man, should be at his peak now. It's probably the best time to leave the industry (or after one more successive failure) before a similar thing happens that never left out Sivaji Ganesan and even MGR in the last stage of their careers !!

  I feel RK has to get into the mode of having another hero with him in the movie... Kamal is doing that now in almost all of his movies... kadhala kadhala, sathi leelavathy, thenali, Pammal k sambandham, panchathandhiram and the forthcoming anbe sivam as well....

  Just saw Baba; It is a completely different kind of movie ... lot of
  spiritual overtones. I liked the movie a lot. So I was quite
  surprised that many critics had given bad reviews. Seems they have
  an inbult resistance to spiritual subjects. The storyline has
  already been beaten to death, so I wont go into that.
  
  In a nutshell, Thalaivar RULES !!! Though he seems past his peak, no
  other actor comes even close in terms of screen presence, charisma,
  energy, dialog delivery & of course STYLE!. There are lots of scenes
  to showcase all these strengths. The songs have been picturised very
  well, especially Thalaivar's dancing for "Maya Maya". ARR's music
  blends very well with the film.
  
  Two scenes where his acting stands out are the first one where he
  confronts the asst CM, and the one where he confronts the CM in the
  CM's own convoy. The dialogs carry a lot of punch too. These and the
  songs will remind millions of Rajini fans what they have been
  missing the past 3 years.
  
  Now for the minus points.... the film could have done with a little
  more editing - especially the parts where Thalaivar tries to get the
  kites & the other Samiyar is trying to stop Rajini's wish from
  coming true. PrabhuDeva could have done a better job choreographing
  for the duet (Some of the movements did not suit Thalaivar). He
  should learn from Lawrence who did an outstanding job.
  
  My prediction is that it may not do as well as Padaiyappa in the A
  centres, but will do tremendously well in the B & C centers.

  1. Rajini is a 'Super Star'with mass (??) appeal
  2. His movie is releasing after a 3 year hiatus
  3. Avar vanthu nintha podum, nadantha podum, moonjia kaatina podum
  4. 50,000 (supposedly) fans associations supporting the movie
  5. All out media backing unseen in Indian film history
  After Release - Actual Fact:
  1. Rajini is just a 'Sumaar Star' with his appeal limited to the first 2 shows only
  2. Popular wish is that the 3 year hiatus was a 30 year one
  3. Ninda, Nadantha, Moonjiya Kaamicha podum had an 'In your face' rejection the likes of which Tamil Cinema has never seen
  4. Looks more like 500 fans association and the rest were like the here now.. gone now finance companies
  5. Egg on the face of the tamil media even though some magazines like Kumudam are defiant and act as though 'ennathaan vizhundu vaarinaalum, kuzhi thondi podachalum, Meesa mellai mannu vottalannu solraanga'

  Yes Thillu Mullu is one of his best movie. Originally this movie was made in Telugu Kamal bought the tamil rights and asked Balachander to direct the movie. Balachander suggested with Rajani then kamal sold the rights to balachander.Unfortunetly both talented actors are not listening to the directors.

  No. I think are enough directors with good story lines but these A$$H0010$ go back to craps like ks ravikumar and suresh krishna... list all rajni and kamal movies for the last 2-3 years and just see who has been doing them..
  why cant rajni and kamal offer their movies to more talented dirs who have prooved their worth... (thry gotta think outside the bun!) ??

  By the way, as far a music is concerned, i guess its high time Vidhyasagar is given a chance to do some big banner films.. he has not got the recognition that he deserves... what an artist!!
  
  I will really appreciate RK is VS is given an opportunity for his next crap.
