If SP Bala is so great , why has Bollywood rejected him?

SP bala never sings in hindi...he is not in demand!

By the way I am being devils advocate here, I myself am a great fan of SP bala but i would like the listeners reaction to this statement

  I never made any comment about southern singers or their calibre. My opinion was about their singing in HINDI understand? U need not accuse me of quoting u out of context - thats what u have done to me and several other posters here
  
  as for the loudmouth part of it, thats applicable to u and ur vile slanderng of some artists on various threads here. I love Tamil music dearly & my comment was not about the singign calibre of SPB,KJY at all. I believe in their greatness, but feel that their Hindi is poor. And I have sudied Hindi for several years, so i know what I am talking. Its u who is denouncing a whole lot of artists as talentless discards, which is in bad taste. See u donteven know how to read something before pouring out ur vulgar blah-blah.
  
  And about people in this forum havingliked my posts, I have a few e-mails acknowleding the same,thanks.I need not ake the trouble to show them to u. Kalai, ravi, adhipalli rajagopal, obserever have all written to e, and I have made friends with a few. Thanks.
  
  Incidentally many of my opinons have been formed after talking to a few film critics too and reading the stuff theyhave written. If mention their names, u will only fum and fret further. Just because they disagree with u. Unlike u, I listen without prejudice before shooting of. I dont need to quote national awards to prove my point, like u do inur scool kiddish manner.
  
  i ALSO DO NOT PASS ETHNIC REMARKS - poor remarks about certain communities like u have done (remember ur dirty statement about all maharshtrians being unojective and biased)

But in your pitiable efforts to thrust ur opinions on others, u have constantly run down on film critics whose views differ with urs,and questioned their abilities etc.

  speaking of "thinking power", did it ever occur to you that SPB sings Hindi songs just for fun? he has achieved enough name and fame in the south, and maybe he thinks he has nothing left to prove. In that case I applaud him for his attitude. There are far too many people in the south who think we are "regional" and somehow only when one gains popularity in north india too one has really made it. To me that is a really slavish attitude. Hindi cinema is a different kettle of fish and AFAIK there has been no one to date who has been successful both in the south and the north at the same time. You have to give up one to get the other (ARRahman is probably the closest to winning in both, but even in his case the quality of his Tamil songs suffered when he started straddling both worlds). Mani Ratnam was giving real decent movies when he started having illusions of greatness and making trilogies. Result -> a super flop like uyire.
  
  you go on and on about SPB's accent when singing in Hindi and the fact that he has "not been able to correct himself after so many hindi songs". You seem to imply that he is unable to improve his accent after trying so many times. I think he just doesn't care enough about bollywood to work on his accent. When he can modulate his voice so well to suit so many different actors it should be relatively easy for him to develop a good hindi accent if he so wanted.
  
  ...BTW Hariharan and Kavitha Krishnamurthy (both tamilians) are much better and have achieved a great deal of popularity. Even their Hindustani-based songs are much better...
  
  maybe Naaz is implying that there is discrimination based on where you are perceived to be from, not discrimination based on your ethnicity or your genes. I can buy that. Even Kamal has said in an interview that some film people in the north tried to mess with the release dates of aalavanthan to affect the film's prospects.

  You are right man, I do not find any flaw in SPB's Hindi accent, but hey, what the heck SPB has the best voice amongst other singers in IFM, even Rafi is not as excellent as SPB.

  Going back to the topic, Bollywood rejecting or accepting someone has no relevance to the judgement of one's greatness.
  
  Bollywood's acceptance or rejection just signals a tastes of one of the various segments of people. It does not reflect on the quality of the renderer and is irrelevant to non-fans, non-participants of Bollywood.

  bollywood only wants nasals like kumar sanu,udit sukwinder,HH etc.,after the passing away of Rafi, Kishore there have been no good male singers.
  
  Accent/pronunciation is given more importance than voice/rendering itself. hence let's not waste any time in this thread. close it.
  
  But kollywood wants only bad pronunciation/accent. that's why we have sadhnas and sukwinders singing here. Sadhna even sings for TV serials. what a pity ? is there so much of dearth for singers?

  sunder - suresh wadkar, hariharan , talat aziz, bhupinder and even udit are good singers beyond doubt. they are not "nasals". I dont want to rake up the same argument here again. I have made my points here before - u are entitled to take it or leave it. on the same lines - sadhana and kavitha are by no means mediocre singers. whether they should sing in thamzih or not, is not for me to decide. but u just have to listen to the gaud malhar rendition by sadhana in her concert "harmony" shown very often on Sony Set Max - to listen to what melody and superior voice control she has got. in the beginning she had sung a long sargham - breathless was i felt on listening to that!
  
  kavitha has sung classical ghazals - i can give u the album details if u wish. however where do such things get recognition in bollywood these days. alas!! :-(( but whenever these singers were given good songs they have done justice to them. udit did very well in "rAdhA kaisE nA jalE" or "hamrAhi jab hO masthAnA" or "aye ajnabi" all for ARR.
  
  bollywood doesn't suffer from bad singers, but from bad composers (except of course ARR) - like annu mullick, nadeem-shravan,jathin lalith etc.
