hello guys
I think singers Balram, Vidhu prathapan and madhu balakrishnan are the best of the bunch and everyone of them fals along the line of yesudas.
I dontthink they have goten the respect they deserve becos we are all busy over-rating tippu, devan, harish, karthik
harish and karthik are OK. but Tippu and devan in my opinion are not that good. They are miles behind classically trained and disciplined voices pf Balram, MB and Vidhu

Thank u guys & girls for discussing about me:i.e Balram.
I am a Tamilian based in Mumbai and thanks to AR Rahman I got the break in Paarthale Paravasam with the song "Nee Dan En Desiya Geetham".I hv been singing lots of Tamil jingles in Mumbai like the "Mortein" one on air currently...
Subsequently I have recorded some more songs the latest being " Atha Ponne " for Kadhal.com (MD-Bharadwaj)which shows an entirel;y different style of mine.
Tippu ,Karthik & Devan are damn good singers and do justice to the songs they get.A song becoming a commercial hit is pure luck.If the film does well, songs and the subsequently the singers get noticed.
A classic example for me is "Pannikkatrae" in RUN which didn't get picturised even because it turned out to be over melodious. And today visuals play a very important role in a song's success.
As far as following earlier great singers ,I am of the opinion that each one is born with a distinct voice which may sound like someone else's.After singing my first Tamil song I realised that people in Chennai felt my voice resembles the legendary PBS.I hv grown up in Mumbai listening to only Hindi film songs of Rafi,Kishore,Hemant etc.I still lots of them in my shows. After listening to some tapes of PBS I feel he is GOD.You jus't can't copy the genius.Possibly his very soft rendering style was somewhere noticed in my singing.....
I am indeed very happy that my songs hv been liked by u all. Thanks once again & Happy listening!!!!.......Balram

Balram,
Good to see your posting.
If you ventured out to sing in Tamil films and are looking forward to establish a career in Madras, don't you think you'll have to do some basic homework, starting with listening to Tamil compositions?
Of late it has become fashionable for aspiring singers to say, "I don't know any Tamil songs, I don't know any singers in Tamil/Telugu or Malayalam and my ideals are Kishoreda, Rafi Saheb, Sanu Saheb and Udit Saheb; I don't know to read or write Tamil and don't care a damn about the pronunciation."
This attitude of singers can be largely attributed to the music directors who are becoming less demanding by the day and are interested in churning out assembly-line productions. Also the general notion of the producers and even the audience that 'anything up North is good' is adding to this sorry state of affairs in the South Indian film industry.
I am not attributing all the above qualities to you, but my sincere advice to you is to polish up your diction (in whatever language that you intend to sing) and continue listening to the legendary singers south of the Vindhyas. You have a WORLD to discover! Wish you good luck.

Peter Pan, you have a point!!! Apparently, going by many such frank revelation from artistes from Bombay, it appears that southern arts / music / idli vadai sambar don't ain't have no impact on no palette used to tandoori chicken, and salad with ranch dressing, not to forget to include blond chicks there..
this is like in the West, listenin to Beatles or Bob Dylan etc.. one' repertoire cannot safely extend to undefined (by B BD, etc..) or unchartered territories. I had the same experience switchin over from heavily melodious Mal songs of MSV, Arjunan, Devarajan to IR and "MSV in Tamil" - very different ball game right there in the Ghataks ( i means either side of Ghats area.)
It takes a great deal of familiarity to the Kerala idiom for Tamilians in Tamilnadu to appreciate Mal songs, likewise i expect the same situation in Bombay, where the songs are definitely less parochial or idiomatic and also pleasing to a larger audience.
But, the point is, I understand yet I am like Peter Pan have a problem accepting condescending attitude as Mr. Balram' (Mr. Balram, not being sarcastic or anything ) who have ain't done nothing to take a listen to native songs before plungin into singing Nee Than Yen Desiya Geetham.
However, Mr. Balram your voice sounds too good, and Wish you genuinely all success!

Hello Everybody,
One has to exercise one's intelligence to peel off the outer skin of ignorance and to admit the fact that " MADHU BALAKRISHNAN" the new generation promising singer who has got a gifted voice which by god's grace very much similar to the Great Yesudas and some time I feel even better than that of Yesudas's voice. No doubt that Madhu Balakrishnan is the best among the best top 5 singers in the south indian films. He has immense knowledge in karnatic music also. In my family, all are of Madhu Balakrishnan's fans and we wish to get him more and more chances in the film industries and other albums. He already proved that he is the best male singer at present in kerala by acheiving the best male singer state award this year. There is not doubt about his depth in the voice modulation when he renders any type of songs. We have collected most of the songs which was sung by Madhu balakrishnan. Once again let me stress the same point that Madhu Balakrishnan is the Top most singer among the new generation and his voice cannot be equated with any other singers other than Great Yesudas.Madhu baqlakrishnan is the best best best bes tbest best and he will get national award very soon for his forthcoming songs may god bless him for his every projects.

Hello siva Kavi,
My name is Janardhanan and I fully agreed and I would add more compliments for Madhu balakrishnan for his sweet melodious voice and the simple way of rendering songs ability. Only one thing which I disagree wih you is that, He is not the best of top 5 singers instead he is the only one singer who is in top and in the Zenith point at present in malayalam, tamil, and kannada film industries. So better to say Madhu Balakrishnan is the only promising and the top most among the top singers. whether it is among 5 or 2 the result will be always Madhu balakrishnan will come to the top1.
Thanks
Janardanan & Family

What about Vidhu?
WHy didn't he get more chances in TFM inspite of his gem of a song "Kattula" from Solla Marantha Kathai?
Even Vidhu won the best singer award in Asianet and also Kerala state best singer award!
