Hi Rex,
Can you put a song from Aranmanai Killi - Nattu Vaccha by PS. I like this song very much. The CD I bought has all the songs from this film except for the above mentioned. Would appreciate if it can be in MP3!
Cheers!

Your request will be satisfied by tonight as part of the GUJAAL song upload.
Murali;
As you mooted the idea of `healthy-competition', I have particularly laid emphasis on more high quality encoding this time and listen to the 2 latest numbers at my site...."adi varum pallaku" and "otha roopa"....every minute sound effects in these 2 songs have been captured in ordinary realaudio file format.....U can clearly see the difference when you play the same song from a different site.....So I am in the race.....please discuss on such issues here so that it will motivate other webmasters also to encode songs with great pains....Ultimately you will find only High Quality files of IR adorning his homepages...rather than mediocre encoded ones...

I am waitingfor the high quality Otha Roopa. I love this number.
Anyone ever gave thought to the Mainaivi Solle Mandiram song ' Aathaadi Abinayam etc. by KJYand Uma ramanan?
Also, the S Janaki number Raamanukke Seetthai, Seetthai, Kannanukku Raadhai. Was it Kanney Raadha or Aakaya Gangai I am not sure.
Also, my favorite S Janaki number in Illamai Kkolam, please if anybody has these.
Best tribute on the internet is raisng candles in the way of web pages from each fan
Thanks much.

Shibu in Shiva Sainya, Oh Shanthi, Shanthi is outstanding with simple orchestration and a superb interlude. The others are the usual permuatation/combination stuff but differently done. Overall enjoyable album

Uuuuuiiiiiii uuuuuuuiiiiiii!!
for the quality of Adi Aadi Varum and Otha Ruva. Am still for the complete Raakkamma in MP3.
One rare film I would suggest you to get when u r in India is - Thambi Pondatti. I went to Chinna Thambi with my cousin (in 1990?). Since we didn't get ticket for it, we had to go for this movie. Actually the movie was not bad. Cast Raghuman, Sukanya, Nizhalgal Ravi, Ramya Krishnan. More importantly I loved the songs in that. Esp "En kannil" & "Pon mane then". I hope I am correct with the song beginnings! But, pls don't miss it. Though I have heard them only once (the next week I heard it once in Oliyum Oliyum).

Murali,
Could not post earlier as server wasnt accepting any submissions last evening and night.
Amaravathy was by Bala Barathy. I will change the error today. Competition is definitely healthy as it spurs us on to do
things - faster and better. I record most of my songs from cassette and there is bound to be cassettes out there with better
recordings. Hence it helps all of us listeners to have more than one source to turn to for songs.

Srinath, MS, Murali & others:
"Devanin Kovil Moodiya Neram" from ARUVADAI NAAL (Song # 17 in my page) is reencoded and was just uploaded to my site. You should not be having any problems with the volume level for that song.
The recently encoded song is available as a STEREO file.
Srinath:
Please do comment on this one....

Rex,
Adi Varum Pallakku sounds excellent, especially the interludes. Got to come watch you work your magic! Would be a definite help for all of us.

Thanks a lot man.....I am stuck in my lab and therefore cannot listen to it....In the morning, I just had time to upload it without having time to play it from my site. IMO, I think, "Otha Roopa" would sound even more better than "Aadi varum pallaku".
Only 4 out of the 254 songs were recorded from CDs. Rest are all from cassettes. I do use GOLDWAVE, RealEncoder, RealPRoducer, MP3_Strip It and MP3 Compressor softwares for encoding.
- From: Raja Fan (@ spider-tn081.proxy.aol.com) on: Sat Apr 24 17:15:36 EDT 1999
Rex, a question please. Do you have to use Goldwave, RealProducer, RealEncoder for one encoding. I thought Goldwave for another encoder like RealEncoder. And, isn't RealEncoder same as RealProducer? Appreciate you reply at your inconvenince only.

uNmayai sollap pOnal, I did/do not concentrate on the quality of recording because I could/can not. Whenver I hear the tune I just transcend to another world altogether...But I must say it sound with less noise. I do not know how to thank you for this song.
Cheers

Rex,
I use Cool Edit 96 for my recording and cleaning. I have heard about GoldWave but have not used it, since I have developed a comfort level with Cool Edit. Then I use Real Encoder, since I want to be able to reach a wider audience. Some of the songs though have been encoded with Real Producer.
Raja Fan,
Sound Editing software like Goldwave and Cool Edit 96 are used to record from tape and clean the recording of hiss and other noises. Then you use Real Encoder(or Producer) to convert teh wav file to Real Audio. Real Encoder is the older version of Real Producer.

Rajafan:
I used to go about the roundabout way to encode songs inorder to maximize the quality content. I use Goldwave to produce .WAV file. Then I analyze the dynamics of the wave pattern for further refinement. Once I am satisfied with the performance of the .WAV file, I then use REalEncoder (old encoder when compared to the RealPRoducer)for certain songs and RealProducer for certain songs. For 20.7 KBPS playing format I use REalProducer and for almost all other .RA files, I use RealEncoder.
RealEncoder - RealProducer - Goldwave are all different softwares for different capabilities.
RealProducer is very simple to encode songs directly and upload it to a site. But I do not do that. I record songs to GOLDWAVE....even if it is of CD quality or directly from CD..etc....refine it to the extent that I am pleased....then feed that file as input to RE or RP and then encode it.
I use Strip_IT and MP3 Compressor and BLADEENC for encoding MP3 files.

What a melodious song...I can't help feeling moved by the melody and the mood of the lyrics. The humming in the second BGM is so raw yet classy. Who but IR could provide a sad emotion with sooooo much melody and a fast tempo ! Couple of days back, sitting in my office, I suddenly remembered this song and wanted to hear it so badly that I thought of calling up my wife at her office and ask her to play it for me over the phone (I am using a ThinkPad in the office now and it does not MM capabilities :-(( ).
Actually, we used to play the first IR chanting part of this song in the medley song in culturals and I did not get to hear the actual song for a long time. I finally got to hear it for the first time at MIT (Madras) when I was playing with another troupe for a College Day or some function. Suddenly they announced this song and I told them I did not know it, but played something all the same. After listening to it from your site, I feel terribly embarrassed at what I must have played (bass guitar)that day :-)))

Rex,
It was a great upload--I am talkin about the "aadi varum song.
Superb!!!!
I hope you remember my another request--'oru mantharam poo vantha...
I am sure it is a IR song--but can't remember the movie name.
I appreciate if there is any response to it.
Good luck on your defense
