Divakar, I listened to your recent posting...it will be interesting to see how the singer will perform the first 40s of sax part...specially around 22s:-)) I hope you will work some more on rhythm part and currently it's monotonous...
Looking forward to the complete version.

Check out these interviews of Srikanth and Eswar.
'It isn't hard to create original music'
**Srikanth D is an inspiration for budding composers and musicians. His commitment and dedication has seen him build his own studio from scratch and create professional album with artistes-giants of the Indian music industry.**

"Don’t compromise on quality even if it means working 12 hours at a stretch."
**Eswar Rangasubramoni, 30 years old, IT developer can be labelled a 'Virtuoso of Virtual Synthesis'. His creations are inspired by Carnatic ragas, painstakingly but lovingly woven with various digitally manipulated melody and bass lines. His compositions are a treat to listen to.**

My friend Anand sent me this clip a few minutes ago. He mentioned about a software and was all praise for its sound quality. He mentioned that the software gave only a couple (or so notes) as examples for each instrument. Here he has used the French Horn sample and created a short piece (impromptu). I thought it was very well done and hence wanted to share with you all. http://www.psych.ucsb.edu/~varadhar/Anand_horn1.mp3 .

This was supposed to be released by Aug '15. Was a little late. I have sung it, so forgive the mistakes. I need someone to sing it for me so that I can mix it well. Meanwhile, please enjoy "Vande Mataram" in Yaman (Kalyani)

I listened to your En ulagam piece. Really nice work. I, however, liked the song titled "Ulagam" on that website you linked us to, better. The combination of tambura and the beats is lovely. Also, I loved the singer's voice, is it yours?
Eswar
Vandemataram sounded so good in Kalyani. My instant feeling was "this is so soothing!". I couldn't believe this was computer generated.

Hi Guys,
How are you all? Yesterday I had some time to do a video recording of 'Chippi Irukkuthu' song.
Please check http://briefcase.yahoo.com userid: naveentemp2003 pwd: share123
Download the 3 files under /Music folder and run the bat file. It'll join the 2 files to one .wmv file. Hope you like the piano transcription of 'Chippi Irukkuthu' song. Have fun!

Hi Naveen:
Nice comeback...beautiful as usual. This was also there in "Akali Rajyam" ( world of hunger ) - telugu movie...balachander and MSV combo...
Great to listen this good song on your piano. Somehow the recording has noise.

An urgent question for experts on karnatik Music (please answere asap....)
In a karnatik katcheri:
Is it possible to have a solo musical piece or thukkda after the tillana segment?
If not, what could the possible piece be called - one that is performed between the thillana and the mangalam?
Could somebody please enlighten me. My thanks in advance!

Greetings all!
This is my first post in this thread... And, I would like every 'composer' here who uses Computer to aid him in the music creation process to list *all* the computer programs he uses..
For example, Eswar uses FruityLoops. It can range anything from samplers like GigaStudio to simple MidiNote Viewers. Please.

Robbie Stanford

is this for any particular reason, are u collecting any statistics ? or you want to setup a studio? I pefer you to give a reason.
(or an isp who is tracing for illegal stuff, just kidding, I know that your from Bombay :)

Dear Doubter,
Yes, you are right, I am planning to set up a studio. Or, rather, I am planning to start "composing" 'tunes'! :)
Actually, I had completed my keyboard grades at Trinity College, but I had only composed "pieces" for the exams, like, say, a 1-minute piano sample expressing my understanding of certain basic musical principles.
But, I see here that there are many people here, actively participating who actually compose "songs" and many are talking about Computer programs.
I plan to start off with a basic "Home" studio. I have a computer, Triton Studio 88 Workstation and GigaStudio160 -my only(!) music software. So, I was just asking the actual "song composers" here about the softwares they use, so I could purchase them myself.
And, regarding my location, 'no' I am not from Bombay, I am from Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
Thanks. And, Good Luck!

Robbie,
Interesting. Most of the people would be apprehensive about posting their softwares, for the reasons that doubter stated. Anyhow, you have told others what I use. Now a days it is called FLStudio. I use some small wave editors to do my editing job too. People talk of ProTools as the best for editing job. I have my friend doing his sound engineering course in Pune Film Institute who uses Pro Tools. If you are looking for serious investment, Pro Tools is best.

Robbie,:),
to start (imo),
Protools is the best it is works quite well.
but Protools is costly it has 2 editions, one is real pro full setup costs about $8000-$10,000 it is called Protools-HD. HD has protools 64 tracks. you can do 5.1 mix. quite powerful!, most studios in chennai have this.
Then there is a homestudio edition called LE, light edition, it supports following hardware.
Digi 002 it is about $2200 it uses fireware. Has an automated console. quite good.
Digi 002 rack is about $1300
Digi 001 is earlier model to 002., it is about $800 all these comesa with protools LE, limited edition where you get 32 channels of audio and some plugins, enough for most small scale production.
all these has great offers quality 24bit.
Protools is good audio studio.
However for midi sequencing cakewalk works better.
On software giga is a good sampler. It is better to run giga in another box if you plan to get protools.
The above are my choices. There are tons and tons of products, even VSt based softwares like neundo are quite powerful, it works fine.
Whats your investement? and your goal? are you into serious music? if you let me know I can help more.
Srik
