Aditya,
That was very nice. I am not a married person but still it sounded nice to me :) I am learning keyboard myself. Can i ask you a few things ? How do u produce all those sounds together ? I guess u must be using some software. Will you tell me what it is ? WHat keyboard do you use. Do u also use some drums software or is it available with the keyboard ? How did you put voice in with the music ? Please will you answer ?

Rajan:
I am glad that you liked it!
I use Korg Triton with some expansion boards. The song is sequenced within the onboard sequencer of triton and no software is used at all. Voices are sampled and used as one of the tracks. Mail me at Vijayaditya@yahoo.com, we can talk in more details.
Regards,
Aditya

Jay:
The expansion boards are worthy as it adds new instruments integrated within your triton UI. What I have is all those made by Triton so far. But I haven't put much of use to say more. Boy! I expected feedback on the music - but it's going somewhere else.

DJ Swamy:
I have only heard about DJ but this is the first time I listened to it. I don't know if this is authentic DJ style.
The following one was OK.
Song: Parthalea Paravasame
Film: Parthalea Paravasam
Mix: The Spanish Cocktail Mix
I listened to Iruvar song
Song: Kannai Katti
Film: Iruvar
Mix: Sam Returns to Ottawa mix
Why the Bass lines are unpleasant on the song or is that the way to do DJing?
I am sorry to mention that your remix has really murdered the following song.
Song: Moondrezhutthu
Film: Paarthale Paravasam
Mix: The Del Sol Energy Mix
Let me ask you one quick question, DJ's main aim is what?
Moonrezhuttu was such a nice composition in SindhuBhairavi with beautiful arrangements. I didn't listen your remix song's second interlude of this song where in the original there were really soul lifting phrases played on trumpet. I guess u would have put the similar not-matching shouts even there.
I am sure the DJ is big time favourites for many out here - am i a old fashioned musician or music listener that i don't understand this new era of music. Please somebody help me out here.
Swamy, I understand that there was a tremendous amount of money and time involved in the making of these albums. The artist needs to be extremely creative in remixing but why touching somebody's work, why not make ur own from the scratch. With the same amt of time and money, ofcourse with the talent, won't u guys come out with a better album.
Regards,
Aditya

Aditya,
I listened to that tune and a few others too. They were nice though they sounded (to me) a little like the standard tunes that come inbuilt with a keyboard. I am a guitarist basically and I am still getting into the nuances of synthesizers and digital recording. Hope you wouldn't mind if I too ask more technical questions. What do u mean by expansion boards? I did a recording earlier with Cakewalk for a radio program. It came out not too bad, but I had a few issues. I wanted to make my own beats, but I had to do with what was available with the keyboard. I have seen in the MIDI collections here that the exact beats are reproduced and I am sure there must be a way to do it with powerful synthesizers or drum softwares. Please let me know how could that be done. How much could a good synthesizer with a good range of usage cost ? I also have a few more questions : How could you get an input of electric guitar straight into Cakewalk or any sequencer ? I don't want to get it through a mike (audio input) from the speaker of an electric guitar. I am also trying to blend rhythm from my acoustic guitar. What would be best way to do that ?
I would appreciate your reply very much.

Just to confirm,
Going back to adhisayam thirumanam in PP, not only does it vary in meter, it varies in tonality also,. Apart from having three different meters (5, 6 and 7 cycles), it has also three different tonic notes. The "Adhisayam thirumanam" part is in the Key of A, "Ithuthaan ithuthaan ucha kattam" part is in the key of E, and the charanam (Vaatsaayana Kaamasutram) is in the Key of D. And again, both major and minor scales are used for the part in the Key of A. Cud people here confirm this? This song has so much complexity put into it, and still sounds good.

I typed a whole lot, but browser sc*** up.
Yes pallavi and charanam are in 2 keys - A(4th) and D (Major). They are also two different ragams (can someone tell us the names?). This is called "modulation". When you choose 2 raagams and different keys, you make sure theres many common notes to make it sound "natural". The closest word in carnatic (I think) is "Shruti bedam".
But you can also choose raagams built on the same key (ragamalikas).

Thanks , Krishnamurthy. Cud u let me know if there are any more songs with modulation in our film music? One question, what did u mean by A(4th)? I didnt understand that 4th thing (did u mean Asus4?). Another thing, if u observe the harmony part for the Adhisayam thirumanam part, the harmony singer starts on the D note (and then coming onto the E note). Is there any significance to that? And does this kinda start make the chord to be played there as Asus4? One more question, could someone help me with the chords for "Edhodho ennam" from Punnagai Mannan, "Niram prithu" from Time, both by Raja, and "Sitrai Nilavu" from Vandichcholai Chinrasu by Rahman. "Niram prithu" boggles me evry time I hear it, and I liked the way Rahman maintained the tension with chords on strings (keyboard?) in the first interlude in "Sitrai Nilavu". I am tryin to build a database with chords for our film songs, please help me. Thanks so much, and sorry for so many questions.

hi aditya, swamiji, RJ & others in this forum
satsona here. i regularly see the updates in this site and have also posted a few messages here b4. i recently got a Trinity - a 2nd hand purchase.
i have listened to some of your compositions in the respective URLs and found them really greaaat.
wanted to know if the music u all compose and store them as MIDI in these sites can be done using the TRINITY, since i thought u all may be doing that with even more advanced boards like TRITON,KARMA etc.??
i am in the process of composing music. Please let me know if i can join u in the site "MIDI ULAGAM: http://www.geocities.com/rjaymidi/jaymain.html.
and also let me know the procedure for this.
thanx and cheers
Satsona
