WHY DID RAJA NOT INTRODUCE MANY NEW SINGERS LIKE ARR HAS INTRODUCED MANY NEW SINGERS!
In fact Raja introduced many new voices. ARR may have introduced new voices but they come for one song and then they are gone. It is still those singers who came in Raja's time that are running high. So there is no question of Raja not introducing new singers.
P.S. If Raja and ARR would decrease the number of songs they sing, then IMO, more singers would be introduced and music lovers could at least listen to some good singing and voices. They just torture me when they kill really good songs.

By the way guys,
Suresh Peters has composed the music for one Mallu film called 'Punjabi House'. The music, an 'avial' of many ARR, VidyaSagar,Deva and of course, Punjabi folk music is supposed to be a HIT!
Well, well, well, I want to see the Mallu junta's reaction when the guy with his new found sucecss goes to the 'adventure mode' and SINGS a song! Will I see a Red flag march???

Neels,
Suresh Peters has also composed music for one Tamil film. I forgot it's name. I think it is 'Collie'. The songs were, needless to say, junk as was the BGM. It was a Sarath Kumar, Meena starrer and directed by P.Vasu. I think this film was released after 'Love Birds'. Vasu paavam. ARR musicoda Prabhu Deva, Naghma nadicha padam pichikkittu odumnu edhir paarthar. The film had one good song 'malargalae... malargalae..." (Hariharan and Chithra). Padam oothikkichu. Seri Suresh Petersa musicukku pudichu pottu 'Supreme Star and Super Hero' Sarath Kumara herovaakkunaalaavadhu padam odumnu ninaichar. Appavum viniyogasthargal and thayaarippaalargal thalayila mukkaadu dhaan. Kadasiya industryla innum konjam naal irukka enna vazhiyinnu yosichu IR kitta saranagadhi adanjirukkaar. Sorry for deviating from the topic folks.

Hi,
BTB, I was listening to the song "Kaathirundhaen thaniyae... edhir paarthirundhaen unayae" from the film "Raasa Magan". It was a great song with a brilliant prelude. MD, needless to say, was IR. The singers had done a good job and they were G.Sekar and Leela. My friend told me that G.Sekar plays some instrument for IR and IR liked his voice and used him for that song. Is that true? And, how many songs has he sung so far?

This has been widely discussed and everybody knows what IR & co except from new singers to get an oppurtunity!
Why unnecessarily discuss this thread with an MD who has no work and lost his quality?
There are better ways of marketing and publicity using his children and money. There are weeklies with paid servants to boost up a dead snake. Should even tfm page do that?
New Singers are getting their fair chances with other MDs without any blah blah.

Arunsurat - you are exactly right. Why unnecessary discussion? It is time for MD people to realise and act. Why talk and waste time, when there are new music directors introducing new variety of playback singers!.

Shanmugam,
'Kathirunthen Thaniye' is a great song in Mohanam raga by IR (it remains a rare, unknown song to many). And newcomers Shekar and Leela (sounds almost like Chitra) have done an excellent job.
Here's a list of singers that IR introduced (some were leading singers from other languages. the list also includes actors who tried their hand at singing... you can figure out who actually 'sang'): Many of them have emerged as some of the best playback artists ever: like Chitra, Deepan Chakravarthy, Sujata, Jency, Sasi Rekha, Malaysia Vasudevan, Malgadi Shubha, Minmini, S.P. Shailaja, S. N. Surendar, Sunanda, Swarnalatha, Uma Ramanan and Unni Menon.

This is excluding the actors who tried their hand at 'singing' for the first time with IR such as:
Charlie, Rajnikanth, Janakaraj, Manivannan, Kovai Sarala, Karthik, Napoleon, Shanmuga Sundari, Sridevi, Senthil, Sudhakar, Vadivelu, Vijay and Y.G. Mahendran.
Does that answer your query, Srikanth?

I missed another singer, BrahmAnandam. He was introduced in the film, 'Metti'. The most remembered song is 'Sanga KavithaigaL Padidum'.
Here are some lesser-known debutants:
Asha Lata was introduced in 'EllamE En Rasa thAn'.
Lalita SAgari was introduced in 'En Purushan thAn...'
Premjee debuted in Poonjolai.
Purasai ThambirAn debuted in 'KaN chivanthAl maN Chivakkum'.
ReNuka debuted with the famous 'SurAngani' in 'Avar enakke Sontham'.
Samuel Grub sang 'aNNe ANNe'
Shaikh Mohammed debuted in 'Irumbu PookkaL'
SArangi artist Ustaad Sultan Khan sang for GuNa.

Karthik,
The song is Unnai NAn ariven, which itself is made of several pieces. There's a HindustAni piece, an Alap in KeeravANi which is sung by the UstAd with several 'Jee Haaan's as heard in concerts. This is followed by a Telugu kind of folk tune, 'OyilAlo oyilAlo' in the same song. Follwoing which we have Varalakshmi (Guna's mother) singing the pallavi. (This was edited out in the film I think).
The entire song is an excellent piece that along with the camera takes the user through the shady lanes of Hyderabad's red-light district.
Dhool.com has this song. Search for the movie Guna.

Did T V Gopalakrishnan do a AlApanai (in rAjapArvai) or did he sing a complete song as well ?
Looks like IR did not want to use classical musicians for film song. He used Hariprasad Chaurasia only for the album. I think this is a recognition of Chaurasia's art form. A film song would have trivialised his talent.
