Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

I hope just because Mr.Eshaan does not remember IR's album name or song name that he has listened to, it shouldn't be taken as they don't acknowledge the greatness of IR.
Just don't get mistaken about IR's non-involvement in Hindi films. It was his choice which can be aligned to Mr. Sivaji Ganesan's own decision not to go to Bombay. Though he has done some favours to some Hindi producers like Rajkumar Santoshi, etc. he didn't want to go there.
Anyway Eshaan & company are not any authoritarian figure of IR nor are they the authority of IR's music. If you want a frank opinion about IR from another great I think it would be more meaningful to listen from a person like the great Naushad or Zubin Mehta(condcutor) or L Subramaniam(composer/conductor). Not from Deva or ARR or Anu Malik or other modern day Hindi crap.
IR is a 'suprememo' himself and nobody has been able to produce(compose to be exact!) or touch him. I have never seen any other excellent composer in India who can excel in pop song composition and orchestral composition, past or present. I only can see arrangers and re-arrangers who can't actually use their mind to compose other than playing around with keyboards/computers until they(struggling) can come up with a note. I can conclude this after hearing all the present Hindi songs crap and all the other present Tamil songs crap.

There goes the IR fan squad. Looks like these buggers have no shame. The sad part is that they go begging for recognition for IR.
Somebody was talking about IR's class.
The only class he is, is "low class." The Tamil songs fans have placed him firmly at the bottom now, rightfully where he belongs.
Ehsaan, please ignore ALL of us and continue sharing your experiences.

Although Vaathiyaar's posting is harsh, it is well-deserving in this thread.
I don't want to comment about IR's class, but what is very evident is the class of fans IR has as evidenced by the quality of their postings here.
Do you see a MSV fan or a ARR fan bulldozing here and soliciting for words of praise?
Now, that is what you call class!

Dear Ehsaan. The album Armaan has just released in the UK. I was shocked!!!!!
The Song by Chitra.....AMAZING!!!!!
The Jugalbandi......superb.
I am really sorry but I just keep listen to these..I should really listen to the other songs..I will, I will but chitra is just amazing.
What a composition, brilliant music and very nice lyrics.Chitra I hope gets an award for the song.
One request however, like you have brought Chitra back into the reckoning with this hindi song I would like you to write something in Hindi for SP Balasubramaniam to render in the near future.
What a combination that would be: Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy and the ballistic SP Bala Wow!!

Hello sorry was away for a couple of days. Wow these IR fans are die hard ............its great to see that kind of following but guys dont get so vehement this is music we are talking about and not a corporate war !!!!!! No one is an authority to condemn anyones talent. As a musician on has to respect what another musician does as long as its good music and original. In answer to Parans question I did go the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles USA to study music. But that has nothing to do with the creativity itself musicial ideas happen irrespective of the education.
Thanks for your comments on Armaan , Karan we really enjoyed working with Chitra she is brilliant and a wonderful human being. We would love to work with SPB and hoepfully will work together in the future.

Ehsaan, Armaan is really a pleasant album. Appreciate you bringing some irish style music to our audience. Chitra was very good in her song, but you could have recorded a version with Shreya as well (just a thought). I tend to think of Shreya as a budding Chitra. What a sweet voice !! BTW, I have a question regarding the style of your compositions. I hear a rhythm/timing instrument played continuously throughout the song, some kind of rattle/bell. It seems to play even in the interludes, for eg, you have a nice sax interlude in one of the songs and I hear this instrument as well. Why do you do this ? To me it seems to interfere with the nice melody of the sax. Probably, just a matter of taste, but I would appreciate you enlightening us on this.

Hi Kiru what you hear is a combination of shaker and tamborine , Loy loves these two percussion instruments so does Shankar because of the pace it gives a song. I think we should consciously stop using those.

I guess musicians like ILLAYARAJA, CHITRA,BALASUBRAMANIUM,HARIHARAN and so many more...shouldnt be compared to as they are good in their own ways...they have comtributed to the music industry so much...its beyond comparable...

Ehsaan:
Saw you in one of the DD 2 programs. All your resent unreleased film songs were shown. Man, that Armaan song is too good. Even to the Govinda/ sanjay film your music sounds different, but did not catch my interest as Armaan did. I could see your diff. approach to run of the mill song situation in films like Nayi padosan...Good you will stand diff. from other Hindi MDs....You guys are riding high...expect bad mouthing soon from Anu Malik , Nadim Shravan and likes....
I don't have time at all to come here, but just for you I took time to post here regarding that DD program....
BTW...your beard looks good man....Are you married.?

Ehsan,
We, in this open forum are lucky to have a composer like you actively participating in threads such as this, and sharing your thoughts with fans of music. I hope you understand that the following post is just a personal opinion and you take it in the right spirit.
I think postings from fans such as 'tranknu' are probably a reaction to your response:
You had mentioned earlier that ARR and IlayaRaja are your favorite composers in this country and that you have nothing but the utmost respect for them. However when asked about your favorite songs of Raja, you went on to say that the only compositions you have heard of the music director were from the taxis in Madras and while channel surfing.
Many fans of Raja in my opinion are hurt to see such ignorance/'indifference' towards his work - just as the general non-Hindi belt people are, when they see the indifference of the people North of the Vindhyas towards non-hindi speaking people and their art, be it classical music, art or popular music.
It is the same feeling of frustration I felt when ARR was new to the scene and was coming up with some amazingly innovative songs for Tamil movies such as 'Thiruda Thiruda' and 'Pudhiya Mugam'. These albums were dubbed in Hindi post the success of the Hindi 'Roja' (many continued to call it Roza, just like many Americans in spite of the media overkill still continue to call 'Iraq' as 'Ayraq')and the so-called Bollywood music critics started calling ARR's score repetitive!! That very tag kind of got stuck to him for a long time. If anybody's repetitive, it's the Nadeem-Shravans and the Anu Maliks.
Another example:
I have seen ads of "Remembering Shakti" that said Tabla 'MAESTRO USTAD' Zakhir Hussain, Guitar MAESTRO John McLaughlin, Mandonlin 'PLAYER' U. Shrinivas, Ghatam 'PLAYER' Selvaganesh.
Well, I don't want to digress into the world of cultural imperialism and the general North-South divide. But the examples above illustrate the fact that there's a larger issue.
Thanks

This is cruel....Genius is not the word enough to describe U.Srinivas.

I loved Ir's score and songs to Kamalhassans Hey Ram especially after i found out that the songs had earlier been done by L. Subramanium and Kamal had already finished shooting some of the songs when he and L Subramanium had a fall out for whatever reason. Can you belive it IR recomposed the songs and synced them to what had already been shot like people to background score !!!!!!
The problem is that I cant remember names of the film and one of the reasons is that I dont know Tamil. Which is why I dont remember names of any particular works of IR's but whatever I have heard was flying !!!!
