  uyire,uyire-starts off with a "kamaas-ish" touch,then goes to chaarukesi in the charanams.
  kannaalane-basically keeravaani-not completely pure,though.

  'subhapanthuvarali' only!
  
  also, "laala nandhalaala" from the same movie sounds like 'charukesi'!

  Someone clarify me on Vaa Vaa Vaa from velaikaran.. Some pages in internet claim it as Hamsadhwani...I see some Pradhi Madhyamam in it... In saranam, "....Tajmahaalai pArthathillai.."
  Here in the illai... there is prathi madhyamam.. Or I dont know if I sing it with an illusion. Please clear me

  I have a question regarding hamsadhwani itself. Is there any school of thought which allows m1 to be sung some times in hamsadhwani ?

  I am reposting this question here because people had not heard these songs on the raga-based-hindi-songs thread. The question is:
  What are the ragas of these nonfilmi indipop hindi songs?
  1. "Mayee ree" by Euphoria band from their album "Phir dhoom"
  2. "Piya basanthi re" by chitra and sultan khan from the album 'piya basanti'
  3. "Pardesiya, chali re chali re purvaiya" by sapna awasthi from the album "Pardesiya"
  
  All three songs sound very folkish. You can listen to the first two songs at 'music india online' if you have Real Audio. Thanks. I am keeping my crossed that people on this thread listen to all kinds of music.

  Thx for link to Euphoria band and the song. This is the first time I am hearing something different from a indi pop group. To my knowledge, this song has almost all swaras and it has shades of te following ragas : Gowri manohari, Harikaamboji and kaapi. It is rather an assorted composn. Nvertheless sounds very good and comparable to sayyoni of Junoon.
  
  Piya basanthi re - I could listen to it only once and it seems moe like shankarabaraNam. but the male voice is gruffy.
