Unearthing Rare Golden Oldies of TFM into MP3s

There are many many wonderful songs in old TFM (especially belonging to the period before 1980) which many of us have heard and enjoyed in the days of their popularity, but, as years rolled by those songs came to be heard only rarely. This thread is an attempt to unearth such golden oldies. Those who have longed to hear such songs can make a "nEyar viruppam" request here. In response, those who have the songs can convert them into MP3s and share it with others here. Through sites like coolgoose.com and Yahoo briefcase, it is now possible to do such sharing easily.

As rare songs are unearthed and brought out as MP3s, it would be natural to listen to them and discuss them here, so that this thread does not simply become just a set of requests and supplies.

My sister Sathya Kabali has a large collection of rare TFM goldies in cassettes and she is in the process of converting them into MP3s and putting them in coolgoose. The songs she has uploaded are available at this link:

  SK, 'suvai ethilE' is a super number. 'muthhamO' song has great orchestral arrangement. The tune of the pallavi has great resemblance to V Kumar's 'nalla nAL pArkkavO' in 'bommalAttam' (???)

  You are right about that song. But it is not known to many people that such a song exists!
  
  I have added 'muththamO mOgamO' of paRakkum pAvai (sung by LRE, TMS, Sadhan) in coolgoose. As SL Mentioned, it has excellent orchestration.

  SK, if you happen to have "Akilamellam vilangum amman arul" pl. UL it. Fim -Amman Arul. Who is the MD? Another request is the wonderful "Vennilaavum vaanum pole, veeranum koor vaaLum pole". I am not sure if this even came out as a film song, but I remember the tune being wonderful.

  Vijay- Vennilavum vaanum polaey was sung by (Radha) Jayalakshmi.
  
  Again, Akilamellam vilangum Amman arul is another classic by the same (Radha) Jayalakshmi.

  sk & Saravanan, thanks. SK, my selection is pretty limited so I will be adding just a few songs now and then if I feel they are not easily available(on the net) but are classics definitely.   Added "Neram pournami neram" from Meenava Nanban (SPB,VJ).Probably not as popular as "Thangathil udaleduthu" from the same album but is nevertheless a worthy addition to your old songs collection.

  Thenraja - I have sent this updated list (in html and in excel) to bb to append it to your list. I marked all the songs that are digitally available with me. But since I sent it to him, I have digitized few more songs, this is an ongoing process and I will update this list.

  I am greatly interested in downloading the following songs if available with any of u:
  
  1. Anbumanam kaninda pinne acham thevaiya - a brilliant duet by PBS-PS in Alukkoru Veedu. it haas excellent lyrics by pattukottai Kalyanasundaram who died soon after this film, i have read somewhere.
  
  2. Ore Raagam, Ore Taalam - By PS in Manappandal, one of her very best songs in which the lilt in her voice is clearly heard. An abs. beauty.
  
  3. Puriyadu, Puriyadhu, Vaazhkayin Rahasiyam Puriyadhu by PBS in Adipperukku set to fantastic music by AM Raja. Isn't it a pity that this talented singer-MD could not continue in TFM after giving mega hit tunes in 'Then Nilavu' and Vidivelli (I don't know which came later).

  Venakt virumbik kEtta "intha vanji magaL oru UthAppoo .
  2 versions of this song by SPB. (happy&pathos). Both versions uploaded.
  This is from the film ThAmbathyam oru sangeetham in 80's. Music by mellisai mannar. It starred Prasanna/Venkat , Sulakshana. Visu type of story I think.
  the best song from that film is Jayachandran pAdiya "neelak karu vizhiyil...... nAn thAyumAnavan thanthaiyAnavan " - vaLaikAppu paadal. Any takers for that song? nichchayam Saravanan will be there!

  from the film paNathukkAga.Year 1974. Kannadasan pAdalukku isai mellisai mannar.
  A.S.Prakasam kathai, vasanam. Sivakumar, Kamal, Jayachithra nadiththathu. This is one of my younger brother's all time favorites of SPB duets.He used to hum this song daily.

  Shankar Ganesh used Jikki (and AMR) in the seventies in some of their films- puguntha veedu, paththu maadha bandham, veettu maappiLLai.
  
  This is a beauty from S.Ganesh. wonderfully sung by SPB (sarathbabu) VJ (vadivukkarasi) and Jikki (Sripriya).
  Lyrics by Vaalee. The lyrics have been masterly used by the duos Shankar & Ganesh. Triangular love song. Sridhar is famous for such stories.
  
  Sarathbabu and Vadivukkarasi are the lovers. Vadivukkarasi is a poor girl.. aadu mEykkum scene njAbagam irukku. Sripriya is the paNNaiyAr's daughter.
  
  Both the song and the lyrics have a folk touch .
  Sarathbabu, Vadivukkarasi and Sripriya in 3 different locations remember their love.

  Aaha! Rasanai! Sathya Kabali, wish you would write oftener!
  
  Yes, Naan unna nenaichen is an unforgettable song.
  In a film that had compositions by giants like KVM, TRP, GKV and IR, it is of wonder that this simple S-G song became the most popular one.
  
  Veetu Mapillai had music by AMR himself, I guess, though S-G used AMR also in films like Thaikkoru Pillai and Anbu Roja.
